These cables rock

Pros: The best audio solution for me
Cons: More cables to route
I have a little "old" home teather setup: a seven years old Samsung 5 disc DVD player (with USB and FM), with 5.1 speakers –bought in a combo— with HDMI, RCA, RGBY, toslink inputs, a six year old 46" Sharp LCD with HDMI, RCA, RGBY, but not toslink, and in 2012/nov I bought a WD TV Live Hub media player. Then I noted my Samsung HT put some weird noises on sound input from HDMI. I bought this cable to take audio from media player to Samsung home theater, and the audio (5.1) REALLY ROCKS!

This is a review on two products that I bought from Monoprice:
2763 3ft Premium Optical Toslink Cable w/ Metal Fancy Connector
1447 3ft Optical Toslink 5.0mm OD Audio Cable
Both of these two high quality Toslink Optical Cables worked very well on my surround system, and were both a lot cheaper than what I would pay in my local electronics store. The price is about four times greater at my electronics store compared to Monoprice price, and Monoprice has a lot more different lengths of Toslink Optical Cables making for neater cable layouts.

Pros: Cable works very well. Connections are solid.
Cons: Due to the shielded cable it is not very flexible so it is hard to make connection in tight area.
I recommend this HDMI cable for anyone looking for quality.

Cons: Nothing anywhere with the optical cable advises that there are protective covers over both ends of the cable. Without that info I believed I had the wrong size cable, I had to look up on the internet to find the info......

Worked Like a Charm
|

This replaced an older cable I had from a different brand that must of had a kink or dirt on the lens as it was constantly having problems and introduced a lot of noise. This cable works perfectly. Absolutely no issues.

Pros: I was in a dilemma. I bought a high end speaker system and required additional audio cables. I called the company and advised me to go to monoprice.com to purchase. I did and the rest is history. It was easy, quick and delivery was w/i 4 days. Since then I have purchased more items and told everyone I know to use momoprice before going elsewhere.
The cables and other items bought are great perform well and spent a fraction of the price. Even the S&H fees were reasonable. Thanks.

Audio Cable Works Great

Pros: Works as advertised.
Cons: One connector became disconnected from my Blu-Ray player, but probably only because it got jostled by the charger base for a portable phone sitting right there. I moved the phone to a lower shelf, so that will likely avoid that problem in the future.
Very happy to add optical connectivity between my Blu-Ray and receiver. They already had other audio (and video) connectivity, but I like to be able to watch one source while listening to another, so this cable allows me to listen to Pandora (coming from the Blu-Ray) while having some casual background viewing on the TV instead of the Pandora display.

I have no idea how responsive their customer service is because I have never had to use it!
The last item I bought was a 3ft Optical Toslink 5.0mm OD Audio Cable. I needed a short run to go from my TV to a sound bar. I was expecting to pay around $10 for one, but I was shocked to get it for only $1.63! When I need cables, connectors, adapters, converters and specialty items I always go to Monoprice first. No one else has been able to beat their wide selection, economical prices, product quality, or fast shipping. Period. Once you've bought from them you won't bother looking anywhere else.

These do a good job sending audio when your receiver HDMI capability stops working. Obviously an optical cable doesn't transmit as well as HDMI, but these cables do the best an optical can do. They seem like they will last a long time. Hopefully longer than I own the receiver.

I use these to connect a sat receiver and a Blu-Ray player to an optical switch. The switch then connects to my sound bar setup. These Toslink cables work fine, and are very affordable!

Also I feel like I purchased from a close-knit community not some giant retail chain that rakes you over the coals for huge profits. Monoprice will eventually kill the giant overpriced dealers off by selling high volumes of quality products at prices that are fair to consumers.

No difference in sound quality compared to expensive brand. I used to be a cable snob buying expensive cables thinking I would get the best sound and picture. Luckily I caught on to the scam after a friend of mine recommended monoprice. I figured hey what the heck to do I have to lose but a few dollars on a "cheap" cable. Man was I wrong! I don't hear any difference using this Toslink cable vs a $50 one. Thanks Monoprice. You will probably put those scam artist companies out of business eventually once everybody catches on to your wonderful products.

Get a longer cable

Pros: Cable is great, except it is short.
Cons: Length. 3 feet barely goes straight down from my tv to my stereo receiver. So I suggest that you get a longer cable thank 3 feet :)
Cable works wonderful. Just make sure that you measure how long a cable you need!!!!! Measure twice, buy once )

Pros: Price and quality are superb. I laugh every time I look at cables in Best Buy and other big box stores. How the heck can they ask those prices?! The quality of this cable is top notch, you aren't losing anything by buying from Monoprice.
Cons: No cons whatsoever.
High quality product, incredibly low price, fast delivery... What else can I ask for? Monoprice is awesome. Every time I need cables, it's the first place I look.

Works with X-FI Xtremegamer digital Out

Pros: It works with my Creative Labs X-Fi Xtremegamer audio card.
Sound is crisp and clean.
Cons: Kind of a cheap feel, but still great for the price.
Got this to connect my PC card to my Yamaha receiver. By the time i got it, i ended up using a better sound card and an optical cable instead. But i hooked this up for a few minutes jsut to see of it worked.
And it did work. According to Creative Labs, the only way to get an optical signal from that X-fi is to use their Digital/Optical dongle. This cable did the job without an issue, at 1/4 the cost.

This is the first time I've used an optical cable. Sure is easy to use. No left/right to worry about, just plug and play! Another plus, you don't have to worry about oxidation as one would with metal connectors (RCA, etc.).

Cheap but good cable.
|
Pros: Like USB and HDMI cables, Toslink cables are often overpriced and over hyped. Recently, PC World reviewed HDMI cables and found the cheapest one available (about 5 bucks) was every bit as good as the most expensive (from the cable company that you would expect the most expensive). I guess the same goes for Toslink cables. This is not new technology. The cable is cheap and it works.

This is a great value.
