Don't buy these
Pros: None

Cons: Too thick and useless

PS No restocking fees means nothing. The shipping cost to return these useless cables exceeds the cost.

Too thick
Pros: Quality appears to be okay

Cons: These suck for your portable devices. Way too thick. I don't know why anyone would want these.

The cable is constructed of two RG59 coax cables bonded together. They are useless for connecting to portable devices as they are too fat and stiff.

Pros: Nice connectors

Cons: Cable is super thick
Wires are small gauge

I was lured in by the gold-plated connectors and the thick-looking cables. I shouldn't have ignored the description when it said the actual copper wire is only 24 AWG. I needed this for a project to splice into a car stereo, so when I cut open the cable and discovered tiny wires surrounded by 1/4" of rubber I was somewhat disappointed. I think you're better off using any of the more standard audio cables.

Stereo Cable (iPhone aux in car)
Pros: Heavy duty, double wire cable. Reinforced at crucial bending points at the ends. High sound quality.

Cons: A bit too heavy duty for the use I give it, which is to play music on my iPhone in my car. The cable runs from the console between the front seats to the iPhone windshield mount and is quite the thick cable.

Nice, heavy duty cable that will last a long time and provides high quality sound at a very low price. A bit too heavy duty for my use (car), but I am happy with it.

massive cable
Pros: This cable is way thicker than you would expect. It is very solid, extremely sturdy, and very well designed. Since it is balanced, and dual shielded, it will provide excellent audio, at a great price.

Cons: This cable is very thick. Make sure it is what you are looking for, as it is very large for what it is.

This is an excellent cable, even if it is not what I expected. I was looking for a cable to plug my iPod in, so i could use it in my car. This cable is far too thick for that, since the jack is in the glovebox. And I can't close the door with this huge cable.

On the flip side, I can use it at work, and it provides a fantastic cable for connecting to my PC, with excellent signal shielding, and very durable. The right tool, the right application.

Pros: High quality
Durable

These cables are heavy. They are not meant for on-the-go use. You want to use these to connect to something stationary. For example, an audio connection in the back of your TV or stereo setup. They are high quality and will last a long time.

Good but Heavy
Pros: Gold plated connections

Cons: Heavy gauge cable

I use this to connect my MP3 player to the stereo in my truck. The cable works GREAT, but it is a very heavy gauge cable which is unfortunate, as the cable weighs more than my MP3 player. This would normally not be a problem except that my player ends up being pulled onto the floor by the cable weight instead of staying in my console cup holder.
If this cable had been a smaller gauge it would be a 10.

High Quality Cable at a Low, Low Price
Pros: Build quality
great sound
solid constructionwill last a long time
PRICE!

Cons: quite thick for portable devices

Just recieved this in the mail today, so a quick first impression review. this is a THICK cable, like a double strand of electric guitar cable. The ends are gold-tipped and really sturdy. I have no fear that this will break and fray like cables i've had in the past.
I plugged it in to my work desktop PC and immediately noticed an improvement from the standard, much thinner 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. This cable is about 10x as thick, but the sound is much warmer. I also did not need to have the volume as loud for a decent level of sound.
This is a high quality cable, and I can't believe it was less than $2, especially when the inferior cable i was using was around $10 from a local store.
Looking forward to many enjoyable listening sessions with this awesome cable. Thanks monoprice!!

Solid cable
Pros: Does what it is designed to do, and does it well. It is incredibly durable, and I doubt I will have any problems with the ends going bad.

A lot of people complain about the thickness of the cable. It is very thick, surprisingly so when you first see it. For my use, connecting a tower PC to an external amplifier, the thickness is actually a pro. I won't have to worry about it bending or breaking like the last 2 that I've used. This one should outlast my PC and amp.

Cons: I wouldn't use if for portable devices.

At this price, if you need a sturdy 3.5mm stereo cable to run between stationary devices, you can't beat it.

If on the other hand you are looking for something to use with your portable device, you might want to consider a cable of lesser quality.

Weirdly thick cable
Pros: High quality

Cons: Unnecessary quality, ridiculously thick

These are insanely thick cables, which made them useless for what I'd intended them for. The reason you need to make an audio cable thick is to carry a signal a long way with minimal loss from resistance. These things are so thick that they could probably carry an audio signal for over a hundred feet. But they're only six feet long!

I dunno what they were thinking, but the thickness will not improve your sound quality any. All it does is compromise the usability of the cable. I'd suggest avoiding this cable line unless you're buying at least a fifty foot run, maybe a hundred.

Hello Mr. Watkins,

My apologies about the overall thickness of the 3.5mm cables and being a bit cumbersome. We do offer a standard gauge 3.5mm cable which may work much better for you. I have posted a link below.

They are Thick!
Pros: They work perfectly

Cons: They are too thick

I bought these to connect my iPhone to the aux jack in my car. I'm giving them a good review because they work, BUT - the cables are too thick and the housing around the plug requires me to take my phone out of its case. So, for convenience sake, these are not the most convenient option for this purpose. I'm buying another type...

High Quality Cable
Pros: High Quality
Durable
Gold plated connectors

Cons: Bulky / Heavy

This is a high quality cable. I was, however, surprised by how bulky it is. The cord is about 3/8 inch thick. This is good if it will be taking some abuse, but it is a drawback if you are looking for portability / easy storage.

Exactly as Described
Pros: Super sturdy.

Cons: Thicker than normal cords.

Looks like super good quality cord that I shouldn't have to worry about a channel going out by having it bent too many times. As you can see in the picture, its pretty wide, so if you need it to fit in small spaces, you might have to go with a different one.

Cannot beat the price for it!

Pros: I saw no pros in this transaction

Cons: The fact that I had to pay to have it shipped to me and shipped to return the product ended up costing me money, instead of saving.

Although your prices are reasonable , it's not worth ordering in case you have to return it. You have horrible return policies.

Thicker than I thought!
I love these cables. I didn't realize they were going to be that THICK when I got them, but they do a really good job transferring sound. I wouldn't recommend them for the car though... it puts a lot of strain on the stereo jack on the radio input.

My family calls these the "jumper cables" when refer to them, cause we feel they are thick enough to be used to jump a car if needed. :-)

Pros: Sturdy

Cons: Almost too thick

This cable is an excellent buy. The downside is that the cable is incredibly thick. While this may make the cable sturdier, it makes the cable heavy and pulls on anything you plug it into. The cable is about as thick as two RG59 coax cables side by side. The plug at the end is too thick to plug into my iPod Touch without unplugging the sync cable. Also, on one of the two I ordered, the two cables were already separated a bit near the plug. This doesn't affect performance, but it does bug my ocd. haha.

Extreme overkill!!
Pros: very high quality, very sturdy and thick and is still flexible for how thick it is

Cons: this cable is extremely THICK!, you really wouldn't want to use this for your iPod to stereo, it's too bulky and heavy, it's the thickest cable behind my TV now, it's just as thick and as wide as 2 2 pencils put side by side, which for an audio cable is really big

there are only a few places you would need a cable such as this, behind a TV connected to a stereo next to a million wires that might cause static noise, on a live stage where it'll get beat up, through the wall, or anywhere stationary,... the basic 3.5mm audio cable is thick and sturdy enough for any and all other applications

Awesome cable, not so much for your car
Pros: Thick, High Performance

Cons: Thick

This is an awesome cable but note that it is thick as hell... This cable is a very good cable made for running between two stationary devices. It doesn't have any problems with interference like other cheaply made cables you would pay 4-5 times as much for at a brick and mortar store. But I would not recommend buying this cable if you just need one to go from your iPod to your stereo in the car. Its very thick and is not very flexible. Great cable though, very well made

Pros: High quality construction Excellent signal transfer Great price

Cons: Very heavy and thick Large connectors can interfere with adjacent connectors

These are not the cheap 3.5mm headphone cables that you can buy at your local electronics store (though it probably costs much less than you would pay there). These are heavy-duty audio cables that are as close to lossless as you can get. For most applications this would be overkill, but since the price isn't bad at all, you might as well go for it as long as you can live with the very thick cables and large connectors (large enough to obstruct adjacent jacks using industry standard spacing, such as on computer sound cards).

Good cable
Pros: Works
Well-made
No line noise
Cheap

Cons: Connector casings are bigger than usual

Feels well built and has been working as expected. I used it to replace the cable connecting my wife's computer's front speaker out to the front speakers. It lays in close proximity to a lot of power and data cables and unlike the original cable it's not picking up any line noise.

One thing to keep in mind is the plastic casings of the two connectors are bigger/thicker than the usual 3.5mm connector casing. This isn't an issue for most uses, but it may cause you grief if you need to plug in several cables on closely packed female ports. For example the usual 3x2 array of female audio ports most computer motherboards have on the rear panel will likely not fit several plugged in side by side. (Not a problem for us as she only has a 2 speaker setup and didn't need to plug in more wires for surround). The cable is also made from two side-by-side cables and is thicker than usual headphone wires so keep in mind if you have very small cable management hooks.

All-in-all, if your device doesn't have its ports cramped together, this is an excellent buy. Very well made and at a price you simply cannot beat in a local store.

Absolutely Awesome
Pros: These cables are overkill to the max. Just the way I like them. They are constructed of 2 1/4 inch pieces of coax seamed together similar to a bicoax setup. The difference with them is noticable. If you are looking for a cable that will make that 3.5mm stereo phono device sound it's best then this is the cable to have.

Cons: Due to their size do not expect to fit these into tight areas. Use this cable only if you have ample room for this cable.

If you need a cable that will out perform anything else on the market for 3.5mm phono plug devices, and may possibly have to use that same cable as a means of self-defense then look no further. This cable sounds great and has enough girth to withstand choking someone out.

Great
Pros: They didn't lie when they said premium. It is as flexible as any other cable, so that is not an issue. Price, how could you possibly argue against it.

Cons: Heavier than other cables, obviously.

The only thing that could possibly make it better is OFC (oxygen free copper), but it might already have that. I quickly switched between this cable and my old cable on my speakers, and I definitely noticed more details in the music and slightly more bass with this cable. Even though my old cable was a decent quality one from radioshack.

Beware, it is extremely thick
Pros: non

Cons: Very thick, bought it as headphone connector and doesn't fit in my headphones

beware, the head is very thick plastic and may not fit in many applications. It did not fit my headphones and is pretty much useless to me. Also the wire itself is very thick.

Hello,

Thank you for your review. And I am truly sorry to hear of your experience you have had with this product. We will be taking your review into consideration so we can look into the PID#. Thank you for your understanding and patience in the matter.

For now, if possible, please try a couple of troubleshooting techniques with me to see if we can resolve your issue.

Have you tried another set of headphones?

What about a different device?

This should fit as long as it's a standard 3.5mm connection, are you sure you do not have a 2.5mm connection instead?

Can you please clarify what headphone or device you are connecting it to?

Please let me know if the problems still occur. If it does, I can assist you in obtaining a replacement or a return RMA to see if a replacement will work better. We do have a lifetime warranty on non-electronics and cables as well as a 1 year warranty for electronics. And obtaining a replacement is of no additional cost. If you want to continue with an RMA just please provide the order# and if you wanted to return it or obtain a replacement. Thank you!

I bought this specifically because I lost the cable for my current voice cancelling headphones and the plastic head is so thick that I cannot plug the headphones in. You need to make it more clear on the site that these are not normal size wires and heads.

by JC
It is not about 2.5mm vs 3.5mm, the grip part is too thick to fit into the small area given for the headphone jack

by Monoprice Administrator
Hello JC,

Thank you for clarifying what you meant. We do actually carry, standard 3.5mm cables. Usually our premium cables are are more thicker and robust than their standard counterparts so keep that in mind when purchasing the premium versions of our cables. The standard version of this can be located here. Thank you!

Nice Heavy Duty Cable
Pros: Heavy Duty - size matters

Cons: heavy duty, might be an overkill, but doesn't hurt.

Probably an over kill on cable, but after purchasing a cheaper cable from a different vendor this cable rocks. If you get a cable that is too thin, you loose sound and bass. Also the cheaper cables make a static sound whenever they get moved. This cable is as high of quality as you could want, at walmart prices.

Bulky
Pros: Seems durable and robust.

Cons: Bulky. It is too bulky for some devices like my Tivoli radio as the jack is inset and the bulkiness of the cable cannot reach the jack.

Heavy Duty
Pros: Works as promised. Heavy Duty. Not flimsy, will not bend in a weak way. Great price.

Cons: Not very flexible, but the cheaper ones are not good.

Works very well for connecting laptops and ipods to a special direct box for events that I run. Very happy.

Pros: Heavy duty
Sound quality

Cons: Big Bulky

This cable works great and has great sound quality. It is heavy duty and so it is a bit bulky. I use it with my ipod touch and the only downside is that the power supply to the ipod is blocked when using this cable. Overall a great cable for a great price!

Thanks monoprice for a great product at a great price!

Pros: Heavy Gauge Wire
Sturdy Connector Ends
Gold Plated

Cons: Bulky?

Amazing quality for such a great price. I've been using it in my car to connect my phone and it hasn't given me a problem. It's a bit bulky but it wont wear out as fast as thinner cables will. Over all very satisfied.

Worth the money
Pros: Quality cable. Durable.

Cons: Minor con - heavy

As far the weight, I can't call it much of a con but it is heavier than a typical cable. As long as your devices can withstand the weight or you position them appropriately so the cable is not hanging off the device, it works great.

I have bought a cheap stereo 1/8" cable from monoprice and the cable failed (one lead broken and one channel kept dropping out). It was not worth returning so I ordered the heavy cable which has not let me down.

Pros: Good quality

Cons: Really thick

Great cable but more than I needed. I did no check the picture and got this oversized cable. You can tell by the picture that each of the 2 cables are more thick than the 3.5mm jack itself. Went back later and bought the non premium version it works just as good for the distance and I can't tell the difference in sound quality its not gold plated like this one but works just as good.

Enormous quality
Pros: Great quality cable, as you always get from Monoprice

Cons: Beastly size

I was a bit taken aback when I got this cableit's probably twice the size of any comparable cable I've ever gotten. It's great for "behind the scenes" work in your stereo system, but it's a bit unwieldy if you're planning to plug it into an ipod, phone, or whatnot. Just be sure to look at the picture before you buy, so you know what you're getting into.

A cable that can withstand the heat in a car
Pros: Durable: not affected by sun, heat, water, or bending.

Cons: So durable that it may appear bulky to some space-conscious customers. Personally, I'd give up some aesthetics and convenience for a worry-free experience.

This was purchased after the regular Monoprice.com 3.5mm Stereo cables would stop functioning over time in the car. I know the cables are built to last as I still use them in the house but, for some reason, they wouldn't last very long when used with MP3 players in the car. I'm presuming that the heat in the car damaged the regular cable internally. However, after purchasing just one Premium variant of the same cable, I have not experienced a single malfunction in the cable, even during the summer when I park the car under the Southern California sun.

Conclusion: I highly recommend this cable in case the silver-plated regular cable doesn't seem reliable.

Cons: TOO THICK. These things are so thick that if you swing them around you could kill someone. They feel more like 12 or 10 AWG than 22.

DOA - But great customer service!
Pros: Great Customer Service. I emailed them that the item was broken on arrival. They replied and refunded me in about a day.

Cons: The tip of the 3.5mm connector was broken.

It arrived broken. Customer service took care of it quickly. The tip was not attached to the rest of the 3.5mm male connector. It was not snapped/cracked off but rather looked like a weak joint between the rubber shielding and the core of the connector. So you could pull the tip of the connector off from the rest of it. Didn't really want to stick that into any headphone jacks. Afraid it might get jammed in there.

Great Cable (bit thick)
Pros: Sturdy construction, flexible, gold plated connectors.

Cons: Thick, as its two cables together with connectors on each side.

Not much to say, it works, is cheap and has great construction. Thickness is the only caveat.

Good product overall
Pros: Works great, no static when connection is moved or twisted.

Cons: Thickness

This product works great, I was just a bit surprised at its thickness. You can't really tell the thickness in the photo. Good for a connection to a home audio unit, but a bit unsightly to use in the car unless you can find a way to hide the cable run.

For mp3 to aux in vehicle
Pros: Good quality

Cons: Extra thick

I didn't notice before I ordered that the cable is thicker than a standard 3.5 to 3.5 cable. But it is gold plated and isn't going to be easily cut. Sound quality is great. A little better then the non-gold plated in keeping a connection. Non plated radio shack cable gives me feedback when moving the mp3 player around.

WOW are these suckers heavy duty
Pros: They're not just a single wire, they're TWO wires. Shielded to protect the sound. Heavy, heavy duty connectors. This is industrial strength stuff, boys and girls. I only paid WHAT for these? They're a freakin' bargain.

Cons: After I purchased the cable so I could connect my work computer to my work monitor which was crappy but it had speakers, my boss gave me a super Samsung monitor with no speakers. So, I had to go out and buy speakers. BUT! The cable will be used for my Tascam digital recorder setup, so all is not lost. In fact, it's very professional and heavy duty looking, so all is good.

A Little Too Thick For My Blood
Pros: Very high audio quality

Cons: Very thick, heavy, inflexible
Easily pulls out of 3.5mm jack when "adjusting" cable
Not suited for a non-fixed installation

The product page warns about the thickness of this cable, so keep that in mind when reading this review... This cable is very thick, and therefore very heavy for a 3.5mm plug. I understand this cable is built for audio quality, but the weight and lack of flexibility cause it to "pull out" or a jack easily. My personal thoughts after using this cable is there is a high possibility of messing up your female 3.5mm jack. This may work fine for a fixed installation if you have a way to relieve the weight strain from the female 3.5mm jack.

A nice cable with problems
Pros: The cable is built solidly as has been mentioned before.
It's still flexible for how large the cable is.
Audio quality is as it should be.

Cons: The connection tip is not built to specification. While it fits in to an audio jack and makes a connection, if you wiggle the cable around audio crackles and will even lose connection sometimes. I have tested this problem with multiple audio cables and even a different phone to verify this is not a fault of my own. I have this problem with both the 6ft. cable and the 3ft. cable.

With the pros and cons mentioned, if you have a non-mobile environment to use this cable in I recommend it. If you will constantly be moving the device you are using, like a smart phone/audio player, in and out of your car I do not recommend it.

Great Quality, Pretty Thick Cable
Pros: It's very sturdy, and the sound quality is great.

Cons: Pretty thick cable, not super flexible.

The cable is pretty darn thick. It's maybe two or three times thicker than a normal 3.5mm cable I'd say, and it looks like it's two cables connected side by side. It is very durable, but not as bendable and flexible as a normal sized 3.5mm cable. Sounds great though!

Bi-Winning Customer Service!
I ordered the wrong cable and I initiated their return process which had great customer support. Their reps were responsive and willing to help expedite the process. I did not put the RMA number on the package I sent back to monoprice, but their reps were willing to go the extra mile and help find the package and complete the return process and get my money back. Honestly, I do not think many other companies would do the same thing, It's rare to see such a vested interest in the customer amongst the bleak, anonymous landscape of internet retail. You combine the customer service that monoprice has with the quality and price of their cables, and you end up with a company that "wins" about as much as Charlie Sheen, noted American "bi-winner."

High-quality, but very heavy and rigid
Pros: - very high quality
- audio results excellent
- very durable

Cons: - extremely thick cable
- not very flexible
- surprisingly heavy

This is a great, high-quality cable. Audio quality is as good as I've ever heard, running my mp3 player into the line-in of my car's stereo. And in your hands it feels very strong and durable.

However, that high quality and durability brings with it a lot of weight and rigidity that makes using this cable in the car a little bit of a pain. I worry that the weight of the cable might one day damage either my car's line-in jack, or maybe my mp3 player's line-out. (Seriously, this cable outweighs my little Sansa Fuze!) And the rigidity of the cable means that the cable arcs outward away from the dashboard, rather than drooping discreetly our of sight. It looks like I'm running a jumper cable through the dash or something.

My advice to buyers is to look at the picture in the listing carefully! It's as thick as the line that connects a power strip to the wall.

If you're using this to hook up stationary equipment in the home, stuff you'll never unplug, definitely I can recommend this cable without hesitation. But I think I will buy a thinner, more flexible cable for the car, and maybe repurpose this cable for some home PC or A/V purposes.

These cables are great for recording or in heavy noise installations, the shielding is superb. The problem is that the casing around the jacks is TOO thick, so you'll need a smaller extension cable for tight installs, for example computer sound cards for surround sound.

High Quality but Bulky
Pros: Great sounds quality

Cons: Really thick and bulky

This cord has great sound quality as compared to other 3.5mm male to male cords I have purchased before. I definitely noticed a difference when I plugged it in. However it is really really thick. I didn't realize how thick it would be. Its a slight eyesore, but the sound from my computer to my surround sound is fabulous

Too Huge
Pros: Cable and connector quality is great as usual. This would be a very durable cable, but the wire casing is a little on the stiff side.

Cons: This cable is humongous! Even after looking at the pictures on Monoprice, I was astonished at how bulky this cable is... with a label that indicates that it's 22AWG wire inside, why is the casing so thick?! It was purchased with the intention of going in a friends' car to connect an MP3 player, but the cable is too large to be able to close the glovebox door.

Good, but not what I expected
Pros: Good Quality
Cheap (Price)

Cons: Too Bulky
Cord is to Rigid

The cables are very good quality and so far I have had no issues with them as far as performance is concerned. My main concern though is that they are way to bulky, and a complete nightmare to use in anything other than a permanent situation. I normally keep a stereo cable in the car, but these ones are so bulky and awkward to use that I would never put them in my car. Rather than the cord being flexible and small, it is almost like dealing with a garden hose.
I would not recommend buying these unless they are somewhere that is out of sight and you will not have to move them around ever.
