Doesn't Play Nice With Headsets
|
Pros: Thick, sturdy cable.
No observable quality loss
Cons: female end is a bit tough to push male ends into
doesn't work with headphone/mic combos
Maybe it's just my headset, but it doesn't work properly. I have JVC brand in-ear headphones, that also have a microphone on the right ear cable. It's meant to be used with smartphones, and has that 3rd section on the plug above the two audio channels for the mic. For whatever reason, that top section on the plug messes with the audio coming into the headphones (quality loss, and it was in mono.)
I fixed it by putting my headset on a splitter that I had already, and plugging THAT into this cable. I should also mention that I have a pair of Sonys that work just fine without the splitter, so I'm about 95% sure it's a problem with the microphone.

They could be great
|
Pros: Good Quality

Lasted only a few weeks
I ordered up 3-5 of these cables in various sizes, they all arrived nicely the ends are nice and bulky. Cabling is thick and sturdy however it stops there. Each cable had the same problem, which is mentioned in other reviews (which I had not read before purchasing). The sizes on both ends are off by just a little the male end is too small and very loose when connecting to any device, any device connecting to the female is very tight. If your not unplugging and plugging these in very often it seems fine. If your using them for portable devices I found that after a couple weeks the female end just stops working simply plugging into it doesn't work you only get L or R not both, it takes a great deal of fidgeting to get it to work, most times it requires you to plug the cable in only 1/2 way in which results in a very easy release of the device.
If your buying this as a permanent connection, it will probably work perfect, for portable devices it might be best to look somewhere else.

headphone extension cable

Pros: This cable is solid, with a heavy jacket, and very solid plug on both ends. It is extremely durable, and very well made.
Cons: To plus a headphone cable into this requires a fair amount of force. It will make your headphones seem flimsy in comparison.
Great cable, very sturdy, extremely well made, especially for the price, more than you would expect.

Great replacement
|
Pros: Great product and price
I needed a replacement cable and before I stopped and the "Shack" I first shopped at Monoprice and probably for the price of one cable I bought several. Did I have to wait a few days for shipping? Yes but in return for patience I got all my cables replaced with a better product. Thanks!

nOT QUITE THE RIGHT SIZe

Pros: None. It was unusable... I threw it in the garbage.
Cons: Both ends are a little too small.
I didn't get calipers out and measure the ends, but I think they are closer to 3.4mm than 3.5mm. I was going to use this cable to extend my earbuds for use with my snowmobile helmet, but when I plugged my earbuds into the female end it was a very tight fit. When I plugged the male end into my .mp3 player it was loose and sounded horrible.

Pros: Cheap
Perfect weight for being attached to a pair of headphones
Cons: Over time the male connection has deteriorated through my use of it and I had to wiggle it to get sound out of it
I've gone through 1 of these after using it for about a year. I've found that over time, the male connection deteriorates through regular use of it (unplugging it, turning it to fit it in to the audio jack, etc.). When that happens, you have to wiggle it to get sound out of it. I just buy a new one at that point. The price is so cheap it can't be beat. Plus, for me, it deteriorated after almost a year which isn't bad at all.

|
For what it is, it was perfect. I'm no audiophile nor a cable-know-it-all, I'm a software developer with no particular knowledge in this field. But it hooked my subwoofer up to my receiver just fine and the sound was perfect to my non-particular ears. At a great price, what more could I ask for?

Great cable except for plug

Pros: -Cable is high quality heavy duty
-Female jack is well constructed
Cons: -Male plug is very prone to failure
Overall this cable is very good and with improvements to the male plug would offer the consumer an excent value for the cost. However, the male plug is very prone to failure. The male plug will fail with only a slight amount of lateral pressure. Two of the cables I purchased failed due to this design flaw.
Monoprice replaced the cables at no cost to me. I am very careful with the male plug on the replacement cables to avoid premature failure. This does limit the usability of the cables.
The problem with the male plug is being addressed by quality control. Hopefully they will address the plug issue soon. Once that issue is fixed, I will be able to fully recommend this cable.

Doesn't fit into recessed plugs
|
Pros: It transmits sound as expected
Cons: Casing is so fat it doesn't fit into anything I own
My intent was to use this for mobile devices, but of course I have cases on those devices and the casing around this cable is so big that it doesn't even come close to fitting. If I take the case off it goes right in, but even then it didn't fit tightly, and it's not reasonable to take the case off every time I want to plug it in. I have bought several other types of cables from Monoprice and I have the same problem. Monoprice cables don't seem to be mobile device friendly. This cable won't even fit into my computer speakers which have a slightly recessed input. Not worth returning as the shipping would be more than the refund.

does NOT create static when used as an extension cable to any audio source so far!
(I've had A LOT of problems over the years when trying to extend a 3.5mm audio cable eg iphone to a stereo or laptop to a home theater setup etc. The female end of the extension inevitably produces static. NOT SO with this monoprice beauty!
Cons: none so far.
I've bought a ton of these things since i've enjoyed streaming internet audio music since 1999. it's not the best way to run audio, but sometimes the only way (if the laptop or iPhone is your source, for example) so many times i've had worthless 3.5mm Stereo Plug/Jack M/F Cables - due to static and crackle or cellphone interference...you know that one!
. This is the best one i've had in a long time. Maybe ever. the female end connects w/ a solid snap and the rest of the cable build is beefy enough to get me thru the portable audio juggle that i somehow find myself doing.

Simple tool, does its job
|
Pros: Extends a 3.5mm stereo jack.
I have a a gaming headset (microphone + headphones) and a PC. The problem was the PC's speakers had their own headphone jack, but the mic jack was on the back of the PC. Needless to say, this led to stretched cords and I basically never used my headset. 73 cents later I'm actively using my headset and very happy with the purchase

The sound quality is just as expected. No degradation that I can notice. The cable is thick and connectors are especially bulky which I think is a very real positive as many other cables skimp on this and the wire breaks down quickly resulting in poor transmission of audio. This cable is heavy duty enough that I have no concerns about this.

Pros: Very sturdy cable. Connection to other cable is firm.
Cons: The sturdy nature of this cable means it isn't something you can stuff in a shirt pocket, but that wasn't a consideration to begin with.
I wanted a cable to extend the length of my earbuds. I have earbuds in a lot of the time at work and I'm always reaching around to get something at the far end of my desk and pulling the buds out of my ear. This works well for me because it's thick and heavy enough so it doesn't slip off the desk.

Connectors too large to use with phone cases

This is a good consumer grade cable. It is a definitely thicker than the typical ones you will find at your local department store or electronics place. A lot stiffer as well. This thing will last forever. Fortunately it is a whole lot smaller than the "premium" cables so better for everyday use.
I have a fairly thin case on an iPhone, and the black molding around the connector is too big, so I can't plug it into the phone. -2 points for that.

Faulty cable - RMA'd

Cons: Dead on arrival - experienced the same issues other users did. Audio was distorted and all channels were not audible. Got the cable RMA'd and will order a higher quality one instead (didn't see the higher quality option the first go around.
DOA, but excellent customer service by Monoprice! Wasn't worried about a dollar cable, but good to know they'll take care of you no matter how small the issue!

perfect cable for office workstation!
|
This cable works perfectly as a headphone extension cable for my office workstation, where the headphone jack is an inconvenient distance for standard headphone cords to reach. I leave the extension cable plugged in permanently and feed it behind my monitor and out by my keyboard, where I can easily swap in and out headphones as needed.

Good cable overall, connections at both ends are tight fitting and secure. No noticeable loss of quality, etc. My only negative is that this cord is heavier than I expected. I am mounting it as an extension cable under my desk, and had to re-do the layout and use duct tape to keep it from falling. Otherwise, good quality, great price!

It works!

Pros: Simple, cheap, effective
Cons: None so far
I bought this cable because my headphone cable, when plugged into my desktop computer jack on the floor, was not long enough. I had to hunch over to listen. This extender cable allows me to sit straight up in my chair with the headphones on. It's long enough for me to wire the cable around the back of the desk, too.

Pros: Great price, fast delivery, and great sound.
Cons: Got a slightly defective cable that makes a weird sound when the end section is put at an odd angle.
Great for an extension and great sound but not too happy about the defective cable.

Great Cables
|
Pros: Thick protection and shielding ensures a sure connection with no interference.
Great cables for the price.... place's such as radioshack would most likely charge more for a cable that isn't even the same high quality as these!
Cons: None!
I'm very pleased with these cables, like I stated earlier, they have solid protection and construction, and I can't imagine how hard it would be to tear these cables apart from wear and tear.

Extension cord

Pros: Fast, works, cheap
Cons: Testy (sometimes unreliable)
The cord works most of the time, but I can't move it around too much. May just be a problem w/ the audio port on my PC, but it's worth mentioning. Just put it somewhere that it won't be touched and it's a great extension cord.

Too tight of a grip
|
Pros: Good build, good sound
Cons: Too tight of a connector
While not a con to most people, if you plan on switching out headphones frequently you may want to avoid this cable. It requires significant effort to pull out my headphones to the point where I'm worried about running the connector. Otherwise, the sound is great and the quality is much higher than my previous ebay extension cord which was flaky.

Two cables ordered, both exactly what I expected.
|
Pros: Reasonably thick shielding, and of course inexpensive with fast shipping.
Cons: None.
If it weren't Monoprice, I'd be skeptical of even a cable like this that sells for less than a dollar. I ordered two of these and they ended up being exactly what I expected: 3.5" extension cables that inexpensively let me get further from a Sony receiver while PS3'ing with B&W P5 headphones. I'm not using these for a space shuttle or anything, but I can say that I'm totally satisfied with the cables for this purpose.

Disappointing
|
Pros: Hard to really list for such a basic cable. Worked fine before it broke.
Cons: Cable is too stiff, makes it feel bulky and is not convenient when dealing with portable devices.
Casing is fragile around connectors.
I had this cable about 6 months or so and it has failed on me. The right speaker is no longer working. The casing separated from the connectors on each end. This cable is connected to my pc and never moves so the reason for the failure is hard for me to understand let alone the separation. I love monoprice and always recommend them however, this cable is a fail.

Pros: When it works, it works great.
Cons: They occasionally arrive broken (with one channel not functioning, or working only when the cable is bent a certain way).
Overall worth the price. Order extras in case some don't work and you'll still be ahead.

Pros: cheap
Cons: becomes defective after a month
Regular cable, seemed like well made at first but.....after using it for less than a month, and this applies not only to this one cable but to all range of 12ft and 6ft I bought here, the female connector provides a really poor connection and one channel gets lost, which is dissapointing.

Just what I needed
|
Pros: The right product
The right price
Monoprice always has what I need. In this case, I needed to channel sound from my laptop to my big screen Television through my stereo. These cords were just what I needed. The price was so good I ordered several, as my stereo set up wears the cord out after a few months.

Ugh

Pros: Looks rugged.
Cons: Sound breaks up and crackles when jack is rotated.
It seems to be nigh on impossible to find a decent 3.5mm extension cord for my headphones. Of the 3 I've used, all 3 have experienced wire degradation within months of use - each failing near the 3.5mm male connector jack, causing one of the earbuds to cut out when the wire is moved.
While this cable isn't doing that yet, I've thrown it aside immediately because audible static can be heard whenever the cable moves enough to cause the jack to rotate - making it useless for music on the go. None of my other cables exhibit that flaw, so it's back to the drawing board.

Hi Steven, I don't think I'll need a replacement. Instead, I am using the cable at home to extend my desktop speaker headphones, and it seems to work fine for stationary desktop use. I was able to find another shorter cable for use with my portable MP3 player. Thanks as always for being an awesome company to deal with! :)

Cons: When another wire is connected to the female end, if you move or twist the plugs, you will get some feedback. Not a big deal though and would probably be fine on the gold plated version.

Failed After a Few Months of Light Use
|
Great price and it worked fine initially, but after a few months of light use it would only output one channel of sound. Soon therafter it failed completely. No sound at all.
