Great Product
|
Works very well for what it's intended, thus 10/10. However, for those wondering, it does NOT work as a 1 in - 2 out (ie: a 1X2, or 1 source, 2 display switch).

Sweet Switch
|
This is exactly what I needed to display my PS3 and PC on the same monitor. I can further verify that this works 100% with a 1920x1200 resolution. I also love the solid construction and the retro design of the unit. One point almost removed for the blinking light on the front, but solved in 2 mins with a small piece of electrical tape.

Works Great with 23" Apple Cinema Display
|
I bought this with a little bit of hesitation because it was priced so much lower than the next cheapest product by a different manufacturer. I also considered the Belkin Flip DVI which would of cost me about $110 more but added full KVM capabalities. In the end, based on reviews here, I decided to try this out first.
I must say that so far everything seems to be working perfect. I am switching between a Windows 7 PC and a MacBook Pro (15" using a dvi to mini displayport adapter) and I get full native resolution of 1920x1200 on both devices. There appears to be no loss of video quality but I am no expert to make a final judgment.
The other thing is that sometimes the device switches between computers automatically (without me hitting the button) for instance if I put the PC to sleep and then wake the Mac the device detects this and automatically switches the monitor to the Mac. But then when I put the Mac to sleep and wake the PC it may or may not do the same. This matters little to me either way but some people may want to know about this.
In the end I am very happy with this product that costs hundreds less than similar ones by other manufacturers.

1 more vote for working great with 1680x1050 native resolution despite the tech specs listed on the page
I could do with out the blinking red light indicating your current selection, but otherwise perfect
I did not have the problem with the unit moving while pressing the switch button. They have rubber feet and hold their own with my desk

I use this to switch my 26" monitor between my PS3 and PC. It works flawlessly. Half of the time I don't even have to switch the input, because the box automatically detects which input is powered on. The blinking lights that others complain of do not seem too bright to me. Only small complaint is the big black box does not fit the sleek, small design cues of modern computer equipment. But who cares if it works right?

I've found Monoprice to be a very unique company to offer products that are right on the mark to what we need for higher end HDMI connectivity. Most noteworthy are the prices! You guys beat the competition unlike no other. The equipment you offer for switching, splitting converting HDMI back 'n forth is truly amazing to find all under one roof. Not to mention your RETURN's process. I ordered a lot of different equipment and had changes in layout plans which left me with extra gear. You guys received what was not needed without a hitch. I LOVE 'YA MAN!

Resolution NOT as advertised!
|
I just got one of these so I could use my desktop and my PS3 on the same Samsung LCD monitor that has a native resolution of 1920x1200. I actually didn't even notice that the maximum listed resolution is 1600x1200. The notice is plastered in big numbers on the box, though. I figure what the hell, I'll test it anyway.
Imagine my surprise when not only does it hook up flawlessly with little hassle, it even outputs at 1920x1200 on my desktop just fine! Looks like 1200 is the maximum vertical resolution, but it can do 1600 AND 1920 horizontally. Anyone on the fence because of this, worry not, this thing is well worth it.
tldr: The maximum resolution isn't 1600x1200, it's actually 1920x1200, which is even better.

Absolutely worth it
|
I absolutely love this switch!
It does exactly what I bought it for and I haven't had a single problem with it in the 3 weeks I've been using it.
To clarify a bit, I bought this switch to run my Xbox 360 and my desktop pc through the same 22" monitor. I don't own a LCD TV or HDTV and the Xbox, sadly to say, looks very bad on SD TV's. I'm connected to the switch straight from a EVGA 8800 GTS with a DVI-D / DVI-D cable, and the Xbox 360 through it's HDMI port to the switch with an HDMI Female /DVI-D Male adapter. My monitor only supports up to 720p, and the switch says it can only handle a resolution up to 1600x1200 but I'm not entirely sure about this because I can't test it (I tried running the Xbox at 1080p and my monitor flipped out, no fault of the switch )
Simple setup, sturdy build. The only real complaint if you can call it that, is the red LED indicating which source input is selected blinks while the source is sending a signal. When the monitor is off, both red lights (indicating source 1 & 2) come on. The only problem I have with it is that I sleep in the room with the desktop and the lights are fairly bright! Which is actually a compliment to the build quality lol. Also another tiny thing I don't like is the paint/graphics on the switch, they are very generic and kind of busy on the front of the switch, but if you keep it out of sight it can't bug you :D
I highly recommend this to anyone looking to share a display with 2 sources.

I agree with the others about the annoying red flashing light, but I've got it under the desk so I can't really complain. I connected a laptop and desktop to two monitors each and share the 23" Dell LCD through this switch. I can see no degradation of video signal. Easy to set up and use. Shipped very quick, very satisfied.

Excellent processing service and products

I made two orders of cables, adapters and a DVI switch near Christmas. Both went out their door the next day. The second order was made near midnight on Friday the 19th. Monoprice got it to the USPS on Saturday. It was in my mail box in Florida on Christmas eve. Kudos to both Monoprice and the USPS. A lot of people like to complain about the USPS but theyve always done right by me.
Now I get to hook it all up to my new Blu Ray that I just know Santa is bringing!
-
post xmas
Everything was there and worked well. The only active part is an Enhanced Powered DVI Switcher. This thing worked as billed allowing me to switch the single DVI input on my HDTV between my satellite receiver and my new Blu Ray. But I have to say the front panel LEDs are obnoxiously bright and confusing in their layout and function. Its simple enough to just hook up and go but when I powered it up and saw BRIGHT red flashing LEDs (along with solid green LEDs) I had to assume something was wrong. But no, bright red flashing lights in this case means good. The red LED for the active channel flashes... and flashes, and flashes... YIKES, this will be a good place for a little strip of electrical tape! There are green LEDs also but they only mean an input device is powered. And when the TV is turned off both red LEDs go solid on. Its all way too much. And the manual (a single sheet, thats enough) is a hoot. The Japlish is classic.
But, let me say again, the device works well. And the price was very reasonable. Now, where did I put that electrical tape?

Perfect for Sharing one Monitor with Two computers
|
This device is exactly what I needed and at a GREAT price. I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro and a Gateway desktop. I use both with my Samsung 23 inch HD monitor. This used to require lots of switching of cables. Now I simply push a button and switch back and forth between screens. Dont forget the extra two DVI cables you will probably need.
The device was shipped promptly and installation was a snap!

Pros: Unbeatable price
Cons: That damn blinking light
Product works great. I think I'm even using it a bit above its nominal max resolution, without any problems.
No idea what they were thinking making the LED blink, but plenty of other reviews have mentioned it. I just taped over it.

Although the specs say 1600 x 1200, I needed 1900 x 1200 resolution. I relied on another customer review which said it would work at 1900 x 1200. It does. Very easy to use, not much to do except plug it in.
I knocked down the review by a point because the flashing LEDs are very annoying. That was easily fixed with a piece of black electrical tape.

Proof that DVI switches aren't just for high-tech setups
|
I have no idea why this switch costs so much less that all of the others on the market it's perfectly functional and has been standing up to daily use for several months now with absolutely no signs of wear. With this and a separate USB2 switch, I have a KVM switch that handles the standard inputs (who still uses a PS/2 mouse?!) and lets me have a reasonably simple and inexpensive two-computer setup for my home office.
As with the other commenters, I am using this at 1920x1080 with no problems and I dislike the flashing red status light.

Does the job
|
Works just fine with a 1600x1200 display, with minimal lag when switching sources. Case appears to be high-quality, and everything works as it should.
The only minor negatives:
1. "Selected" light constantly blinks- the light is not obtrusively bright, and the switch is not placed in my line of sight, so it does not bother me, but I could see it being somewhat annoying for certain setups.
2. The buttons appear to be a single piece of plastic. That is, the entire button assembly moves when pressing on any part of it, even the lower parts (although this does not actually affect the function in any way). Not a big issue by any means, but (physically) separate buttons would give the product a higher-quality feel.
Overall, a great product at a very fair price.

Great product at a great price.
|
I can confirm that this product, despite the description, supports resolutions at least up to 1920x1080 and 1680x1050 with no apparent issues.
Product is simple to hook up, and works as advertised. My only tiny issue is that the red "selected" indicator light blinks when selected - I would have preferred it just to burn steady - with two of them blinking away it can make you crazy. ) I've positioned the switches behind my monitors so I don't have to look at them.
Other than that, I bought two of these to be able to switch back and forth between a home and work PC, both of which are dual monitor capable (work PC doesn't support analog signals, so I couldn't just use the analog in on the monitors - and I wasn't going to game on analog on my home PC). They're awesome and you can't beat the price.

Great little piece of hardware. Using it to split my computer and xbox to my monitor, does exactly what I want it to do. Only gripe I have is there's 2 blinking red lights, that are completely unnecessary and should be taken out in the remodel. All you NEED is an indicator light saying what input is active. Not sure why they wanted red blinking lights. They even blink when both inputs are OFF, which is odd. Anyways, besides the blinking red lights issue...this thing does exactly as it advertises.

Awesome Product

Terrific product, have not been able to find a similar product that even comes remotely close in function and price. I have it hooked up to my 24 inch 1920x1600 monitor and it works perfectly. Case is all metal, well built. The blinking lights are a tad distracting.... but super minor detail, and like the previous reviews a little electric tape will fix that for you if its truly bugging you. Would happily buy it again!

Seems to work fine, is built within a fine sturdy metal case (Not plastic! YAY) and looks pritty slick imho. Only complaint is the damn blinking lights. There is a nice green light telling me what inputs are online and an annoying blinking red light telling me which one im using. Sure, picking nits but a solid green light would be less annoying. Otherwise I love it

Switcher Review
|
The product works as advertised and lets me switch between two input sources. I've used it to hook my Bluray player up to my monitor via an HDMI-DVI Cable and it works just fine.
If there is a negative aspect of the switcher, it is that selected source always has a blinking red light. I think they could have made the light only blink a few times and then not again until you start hitting buttons on it. Fortunately, it was nothing a little bit of black electrical tape couldn't fix. Nonetheless, I can't complain too much because it wasn't a terribly expensive product and it gets the job done.

Great for PC and PS3 at 1920x1200 or 1080
|
It says the max resolution is 1600x1200 but what they probably mean is that it only supports single link DVI (you can still use dual link cables, just don't expect to get full resolution with this switch and a 30" LCD). My PC works fine at 1920x1200 (the switch didn't introduce any noticeable input lag if you're wondering) and my PS3 displays 1080p just fine (with an HDMI cable with an HDMI to DVI adapter) despite 1920x1200 having more pixels than 1600x1200. I can see how people can be annoyed by the flashing light but you can stick a piece of black electrical tape or something like that over it if it really bothers you. A minor issue I have is the auto-switch, I'd prefer to have it manual only as it will switch to a device on standby (like the PS3 when it is "off") when you turn your PC off and then you come back latter and think that because you last used the screen with the PC that you won't need to switch but you will have to manually switch back to the PC's port because with both devices on it won't auto-switch.
The switch is solid with it's metal case. A minor issue is that the DVI ports are "backwards". So when first hooking it up, if you unplug the DVI cable from your PC you will probably have to flip the cable since the "dash" on the port is on the opposite side. It's a very minor issue that only applies when hooking it up but it's worth knowing if you're trying to hook it up with limited visibility where you're feeling for the port and can't really see the dash.
So basically it works great if you have monitor with 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 resolution that you want to use with 2 PCs or a PC and console using HDMI to DVI (I've only tried with PS3, don't forget to get an optical cable if you want digital sound). The only issues I've had are very minor, nothing to make me regret getting this switch.

Great quality for the price. Switches between my two pcs running at 1600x1200. I cannot see any distortion in the display at all.
The only reason I would not give it a 10 is that there is a red flashing led indicating which input source is selected. This can be really distracting. A non-flashing led would be much less distracting while providing the same information.

Item works well as designed.
But it's large because DVI is a large cable. The cables are heavy. Try 5310 3X1 Enhanced HDMI Switch with built-in Equalizer w/remote (REV.3.0) or better Try 5312 4X2 True Matrix HDMI 1.3a Powered Switch w/ Remote Controller (Rev. 3.0)
#5312 Is awesome. I've got 2 DVI monitors that I'm using with my playstation 3 and my computer which is DVI.
I bought HDMI 2 DVI adapters for the cables then purchased normal HDMI cables.
The cables are lighter than DVI cables and future proof. I convert the normal HDMI cables at the monitors. Everywhere else in the pipeline I'm HDMI ready. It works great! The matrixer allows me to swap and display on either monitor whatever HDMI source I like. It's brilliant.

Works great, but a few niggly details
|
This product does exactly what it says - provide reliable switching between two DVI video sources. Switching is fast, it's compatible with all the hardware in my setup, the buttons feel nice, and picture quality is exactly the same as it was before I installed the switcher.
There are a few niggly details I'd like to see improved:
1) The LED indicating the current source blinks once per second. I wish it didn't blink, and am thinking of covering the LEDs with black electrical tape.
2) The computer I use most often is connected to port 1. When I put computer 1 to sleep, and no computer is connected to port 2, the switcher flips over to port 2. I have to manually switch back when I bring computer 1 back from sleep. (I haven't yet tried connecting my computer to port 2 as default to see if that fixes the problem).
3) The box says it supports resolutions up to 1600x1200. I'm using it with a 1680x1050 LCD monitor and it works just fine, though I wonder if it would support a 1920x1080 or 1900x1200 monitor. If you have a larger monitor, check first before buying.

Works As Advertised
|
The product does exactly what it's supposed to do. It is very ruggedly constructed. I have a few minor criticisms, however. The items is not sold at an ideal price point. I think $20 is a better price for this item. Also, the red light flashes constantly indicating the selected port. The flashing light draws one's attention unnecessarily.
