HDMI Switch works perfectly
Pros: I was very impressed by the automatic switch when a new source began sending video data. My only concern is that I will lose the remote, but I believe the channels can be changed manually, and the automated switching should cover that.

Cons: No problems so far.

Does not do 1080P!
Pros: Good concept, Remote controlled switching, easy set up, nice looking

Cons: Does not do 1080P!

Description of item claims to support 1080P HDMI 3D and pixel clock patterns up to 225Mhz. I have a Samsung 47 inch HDTV that is 1080P capable and more. I also have a Roku 3 which is also 1080P. I purchased this switcher to have the ability to have the Roku be able to put sound through the TV or my Receiver (also 1080P HDMI output) on demand while maintaining my DVD player connection as well.
Set up and hooked up the switch box which was very easy. Hooked up the Roku 3, DVD player and Receiver with Monprice High Speed 24AWG HDMI cables and the Roku was set on 720P and worked perfectly through the switch box. I then saw that the TV was set on 1080P and switched the Roku to 1080P. The second I did that the screen went blank and a message popped up saying "No Signal". I reset the Roku, the TV, everything and still nothing. Swapped out every cable since I bought plenty and tried every port on the TV (it has 3) and the switch box and still dead. I then hooked the Roku directly to the TV and it was fine, Not only that, but it showed that it was set to 1080P. So in switching the Roku to 1080P while hooked up to the switch box, it appears that the box could not handle it and now the only thing that works on the switch box are the indicator lights and remote.
I also noticed that apparently it is a lower pixel clock rate than cable TV signal because when I switched to regular cable TV it was pixel-ed all over. When I took the switch box out of the equation and switched over again while leaving the Roku hooked up, there was not problem.
If your running 1080P gear and want to view 1080P resolution, do not get this switch box, it can't do it.

Hello,

My apologies for the problems you ran into with the HDMI switch. If I may ask have you tried other devices through the switch at 1080p to see if other devices work through the switch? Also not sure if you are using the CEC feature but sometimes this can interfere with the components I would try turning this off on the switch as well as your television if it has this feature. If this doesn't help we can try issuing an RMA for a replacement which I see you have already in place to see if that resolves the issue. Again my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Once you receive your replacement please let us know how it works out for you. If you have any other questions or concerns please let me know.

Thank you

Hi Tjayi,
Yes, I tired all of that and more. Spent 4 hours trying it different ways and different sequences of trouble shooting. What happened was that I hooked up my Roku to it using your premium 24AWG HDMI cables (I got a couple of extras just in case too). The switch worked fine when I fired everything up the first time, but noticed that the Roku was set at 720p and it does 1080p. All my devices also do 1080p so I thought I may as well set the Roku to 1080p after all. The minute I did that the screen went blank and I got errors that the TV could not find a signal. I called Roku and went through 30 minutes of tech support tricks and there is nothing wrong with the Roku. (I tried taking the switch box out of the path and the Roku worked just fine and in 1080p). I put the box back in the path and got nothing but power lights and it could not find any signal.
I did a chat with someone at Monoprice and they determined that the box is defective. Now I just found that it will cost me another $12 to ship it back to you. I also just read two recent reviews of folks having the same or similar problem with their units and one person had the same problem with the replacement unit!
Perhaps an RMA is not such a good idea as I thought. I can't afford to go through 4 or more boxes to find a unit that might work for a week only to die after that. It appears they are poorly made boxes.
What I am trying to do is have the Roku hooked up to both my TV for watching non-surround encoded content and my HT Receiver at the same time to watch movies that are encoded. I appreciate the service of Monoprice and your cables are good value, I run them in my audio and video systems and never had a problem.
With the cost of this getting where it's at, I think it might be better to count it as a loss and just not watch movies with the Roku. I'll just purchase any movies on DVD to watch and just stick with non-encoded classic TV shows on the Roku until a solution or way can be found to do what I want to do.

Pros: Works for me

Cons: Doesn't automatically power off on older devices.

I bought this to use with a newer Samsung LED TV when another switch (item 5557) failed to perform consistently, and I haven't had a problem since. I got another one to use on an older Panasonic plasma and the only difference is that you have to manually power off the switch. But overall, no complaints.

Great value for the price
Pros: Works exactly as expected with a variety of components.

Cons: Front panel LED a little too bright for darkened environment.

All components worked instantly, and a variety of Camcorders & SLR connected without any problems. Great value.

Device works perfectly
Pros: I quickly connected my tv set top box and PS3 to the HDMI switch and it all worked perfectly. The real "pro" is that i was able to program it into my Logitech Harmony remote so it automatically turns the switch on and off and switches between the channels for tv or ps3 and I have room to add two more devices to the switch.
The Harmony now replaces five remotes, including the one for the HDMI switch.

Cons: I get a bit of visual fuzziness when the tv connection is first established, but it seems to settle into a crisp picture after a short time.

Good product at a reasonable price. It completely solved my problem of limited HDMI inputs for an older plasma screen and receiver, thus extending the life of the equipment.

Better Than Expected
Pros: Price and overall looks

Cons: none

This unit works like a charm, I bought a new Samsung 55" LED/LCD television and hung it above my fireplace. I have my DIRECTV, DVD player and a wireless receiver all pluged into this with one HDMI cable then going up to the TV. When I press 'ON' on my DIRECTV remote, my DIRECTV box, television and this unit all turn on and BAM, happy customer!

Very Unhappy with this Purchase
Pros: Worked for a Few Months

Cons: Remote is Useless
Eventually Switch Stops Working

I have an Insignia Plasma in my basement which only has one HDMI in. I was tired of disconnecting the Directv box to plug in the Xbox 360, so I bought this. To accompany this purchase, I also bought 8AWG High Speed HDMI Cables w/Ferrite Cores from here, rather that use old cables. Here is my experience:

After 2 months, the remote stopped working. I replaced the battery, and nothing. No big deal, I could still alternate devices using the button on the switch.

After 4 months, I'd be watching Directv and the television would lose signal. After 5 months, I'd be playing Xbox and the television would lose signal. I bought ALL new cables which didn't correct the problem, so I tested the switch on a newer television in my house. Problem persisted.

I got another 4 months out of the switch by using ports 3/4 instead of 1/2 (good thing I didn't need all 4). They stopped working last week, and I'm back to manually plugging in each device when I want to use it.

I bought this based on the reviews here, and would not recommend it to anyone. It's possible I got a lemon, but I won't take my chances here again.

by Ryan
Oops, I forgot to mention what I had to go through when the TV lost signal. It happens sporadically. Sometimes every 3 minutes, and other times every 3 hours. The Switch lights up all ports, and then goes dark. The only way that I found to solve this was to unplug the switch and plug it back in. Sure, it only takes 30 seconds, but it's annoying when you're watching live tv and miss something, or in the middle of a game and die.

Monoprice won't guarantee switch will work
Pros: It worked for several months

Cons: Stopped working with my BluRay player. No changes were made.

Stopped working with my BluRay player after several months. Replacement received had the same exact problem. TS said that they can't guarantee the switch will work with all players. But it did work for a while. He said it may be an update that caused the problem. I couldn't play regular DVD's so I doubt it was an update. I bought another switch from Amazon which works just fine. Needless to say I am not happy with Monoprice and will not buy from them again.

Amazing device for a mix of input sources
Pros: Great price
Works well for PCs

Cons: Small and light. Tends to get pushed around when five heavy/thick monoprice HDMI cables are attached.
The remote works, but not at steep angles.

I'm using this switch to share a 55inch panasonic plasmas TV between 3 different computers and a ps3. For this purpose, this little switch has far exceeded my expectations.

Connected computers see the HDTV as an extra monitor, even when they're not the current chosen display. This is AWESOME because it lets you rapidly switch between devices without causing the computer to sense that there has been a display connection/disconnection. Which is a huge pain. (On the downide, you can lose a window on the phantom screen.)

Switching to the ps3 is flawless. Blu ray movies and games work at 1080p without issue.

It worked, then it didn't - NOW IT DOES AGAIN!
Pros: Hooked it up to a LCD flat screen I have in the room with my PC because I now have a DVD player and an HDMI signal from the Den (Dish, etc.) and I could also use it as another Display. Simple to hook up and the control is intuitively obvious to the casual observer. It switched fairly quickly with no more than the normal HDMI handshaking delay and the signal was steady and clean.

Cons: First unit died in about a week but thanks to a super job by John Lingo in Tech Support I got a cross shipped replacement that has worked flawlessly for about 2 months.

Great device despite an early failure. Monoprice replaced it quickly. Considering the price and the response I am satisfied with their product and especially Tech Support. Way to go John Lingo!

Junk!
Pros: albe to switch from one thing to another with out changing the input on your tv and allows you to make use of more HDMI ports.

Cons: all ports do not work.

Maybe it's just a lemon but this thing has 5 ports (4 input and 1 output) and only the output and 1 input port work, the rest make my tv flicker and and the sound is choppy. Basically, it doesnt do the job.

Doesn't play nice with Directv
Pros: Price
Compactness
Concept

Cons: Grainy Dotted Picture (Ocasionally)
Not Grounded

I purchased 2 of this units, they work well when they want to. Sound is not always there (you would have to turn off and on the TV for sound to come out the speakers). Also When using Using my PS3 picture is grainy with dotted picture making it unpleasant to even watch. And while watching Directv, if a light switch gets turned on or off at the house the image would just go away (like if it was turned off) even with CEC ON or OFF still did it, i plugged my Directv straight and played with light switches all day and it never went off, I also had an electrician and a Directv installer to make sure my house's cabling and directv were all grounded properly and it was all good until I hooked up the switch again. It could be a great lil' product if it was grounded properly. I don't see why wouldn't they just come with a 3 prone male cable ground included? As of now I no longer use them and just switch my HDMI from device to device for ZERO interference.

Copy Protection and HDMI
Pros: Small and good display of status

Cons: Does not defeat HDMI copy protection. Needs to be reset occasionally, a simple process.

I have a giant screen front projection television that uses an expensive projector light bulb with a limited life. Turning the TV on and off frequently shortens the life of the bulb. The primary source for the TV is a satellite receiver. Both the TV and the satellite receiver are HDMI. I wanted to be able to plug a small non-HDMI TV to the satellite receiver, in addition to the projection TV, for setting up recording onto the DVR and other admin tasks, without having to turn on the big TV and wear out the lamp. I'm not trying to break any laws or violate any copy protection. But every time I turn on the little TV, without the big TV being on, I get an error message from the satellite receiver that I have a non-HD TV connected (which is true) and it resets itself to low resolution. I believe that is an HDMI copy protection issue. I had hoped that by using the HDMI switch, it would fool the satellite receiver into thinking there was an HDMI device attached and wouldn't reset the resolution every time I turned on the small TV. It does not do that. I still get the error message. My current plan is to buy a small TV with HDMI inputs and connect it and my big projection TV to the HDMI switch. I think that should work.

It worked and then it didn't
Pros: Hooked it up to a LCD flat screen I have in the room with my PC because I now have a DVD player and an HDMI signal from the Den (Dish, etc.) and I could also use it as another Display. Simple to hook up and the control is intuitively obvious to the casual observer. It switched fairly quickly with no more than the normal HDMI handshaking delay and the signal was steady and clean.

Cons: I was using it for about 5 days with no problems with whatever cables I could scrounge up while waiting for some better quality and shorter cables. When the new cables arrived, as soon as I hooked up the new output cable to the TV - NO SIGNAL- ERROR.
I tried every cable I had including the ones I took off and I never got it to work again! Every cable I tried worked fine when each device was hooked up directly to the TV. I looked carefully in the output port and I cannot see any contacts obviously damaged or misaligned. First time I have ever had a Monoprice switch just quit like that and I have used 4 or 5 of them over the years.

When it worked it was perfect then it stopped when I changed cables. It is so inexpensive that it is not worth it to try to RMA it. Besides I already trashed the box and packaging. It was hard to pick a rating because it may just be a random small infant mortality type electronic failure and not representative of most user experience. If it was still working it would be a 10 for sure.

Didn't work
Worked well when it was one but I had to power cycle the box every time I turned the TV on. I contacted support and they blamed it on the HDMI cables which I had just bought from Monoprice. I sent it back and bought another product somwhere else.

Hello,

My apologies about the issues you ran into with the switch. It sounds like the issue could have also been related to the data and feedback wasn't being properly received back to the TV because the switch was being left on. The signal was able to properly decode itself one everything was powered up together or in this case the switch was cycled. It could have also been related to other things, but nonetheless my apologies for the trouble and any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Cons: no replacement remotes available.

Great product. Does the job. But I have an issue, my dog ate my remote. Tried going through customer service for a replacement but said they couldn't help. Don't have a Harmony Remote yet either. Anyone know if you can program the AUX on U-Verse Universal Remote to control it?

Doesn't work with my Panasonic DMP-BDT220
Pros: Works well with XBOX 360, Apple TV, and uVerse DVR.

Cons: Does not work with my Panasonic 3D Blu-ray player. Picture experiences a lot of tearing & static. I thought it was a problem with the player at first. Switching cables, rebooting devices didn't work. Forced to manually switch HDMI cables from HDMI out on the switch to direct HDMI out from Blu-ray, which kinda defeats the purpose of having this switch.

See notes above.

Finicky does not pass 3D
It seems to work with the Comcast box and Xbox (most of the time, but not always), but it won’t pass 3D from our Panasonic BD210 blu-ray to our Panasonic GT30 plasma. We already had a non-3D switch, so this is useless. I hope we got a defective unit and Monoprice replaces it.

For now, if possible, please try a couple of troubleshooting techniques with me to see if we can resolve your issue.

Have you tried a different set of devices?

Keep in mind all devices that's connected to this switch requires to have 3D as well for 3D to pass through the switch. If some devices doesn't please isolate to just a 3D source and 3D TV.

Also if possible, try a different set of cables, and if possible thicker and shorter as well.

I would also try power cycling all devices associated with the switch along with the switch as well.

Please let me know if the problems still occur. If it does, I can assist you in obtaining a replacement or a return RMA to see if a replacement will work better. We do have a lifetime warranty on non-electronics and cables as well as a 1 year warranty for electronics. And obtaining a replacement is of no additional cost. If you want to continue with an RMA just please provide the order# and if you wanted to return it or obtain a replacement. Thank you!

Great switch, but minor disappointment
Pros: Works great. No distortions.

Cons: Must always keep it on

Works great. No distortion at all, I use this switch for my LG flatscreen, switching between my cable box & DVD player. I also have a loose HDMI cable to connect my wife's laptop so she can stream movies. It comes with a remote, which is just one more remote to lose. I wanted to program my universal cable remote to turn the switch off/on, but the documentation nor tech support new what the codes were. So, I just keep it on all the time. No big deal.

Worked for a Year...
Pros: Worked great for the year + one month I had it.

Cons: Would not output image data sometimes without bouncing between input selectors.
After 13 months it color shifted the image with a purple tint on all 4 ports.

The switch worked fine for the first 13 months. I use it with my Epson Front Projector, an LG Blu Ray Player, and a Wii via a component to HDMI converter (Monoprice item5971).

The only complaint I had was that I had to bounce between sources whenever the projector was first turned on before I could get the video signal sent to the projector. It was like the projector wasn't recognized and would not be sent the image until I forced it to switch inputs with a couple of button presses. I could then go back to the input I wanted and the image would be finally displayed.

Just my luck that it died after 13 months. Now I either pick up another one (and run the risk of a years warranty) or use this as a wife excuse to look at upgrading the receiver to one that can handle HDMI switching (LOL).

Great product
Pros: Works as advertised. I plugged it in, connected my devices and everything just worked.

Cons: Occasionally does not switch to the correct channel for the device being played. Just switch it off and back on and it works.

I recommend this product if you are like me and have more HDMI devices than you have connections for. I set it up with my Harmony remote with no issues. I have not noticed any degradation of the video quality, everything looks great.

Still love ya Monoprice!
Pros: Another quality product. Very easy to setup.

Cons: Switch "falls asleep" and doesn't "wake up".

My wish was to leave this on all the time so I wouldn't have to use the remote that came with it. Unfortunately, if I do leave it on and attempt to turn on any of my devices, (I have my cable box, Blu Ray and 360), they do not appear on the TV. I either have to cycle through the ports on the switch or turn the switch off and back on again to get a picture.

I purchased the 24 AWG HDMI cables that were highly recommended for the switch. Didn't help. I just wish there was a way to leave the switch on and not have it go to sleep.

As my title says, this will not prevent me from purchasing from Monoprice in the future. They are still the best at what they do.

some problems with BluRay and PCs
Pros: Affordable. Easy to use. Works with Harmony and other universal remotes. Works fine with my Xbox360 and DirecTV HD DVR.

Cons: Does not work with my Panasonic Blu Ray player no matter what cable I use. Picture is grainy and lines flash all over the screen. Audio cuts out constantly.

I also tried it with my HDMI capable laptop and I get massive overscan at 1080p. Luckily, my PC can be manually adjusted to fix this, but you loose clarity by doing it.
When I plug it directly into my TV, I get perfect 1080p. When I use the HDMI switcher, I have to turn it to like 1824x1048 or something silly.

Good product that has one fatal flaw in MY setup. I'd give it a full 10 star review if it was 100% compatible with every one of my devices. Current setup is a 42" 1080p Panasonic Plasma (TCP42S2), Panasonic Blu Ray player (BD65K I think), DirecTV HD DVR (HR21), an Xbox 360 and a Dell E6420. Running 3 HDMI cables to the switch, one out to the TV and one TOSLINK cable back to my receiver for audio

Pros: Simple to use and connect. Works seamlessly.

Cons: None

Pros: Great small unit

Just what I was looking for to hook my accessories to my Sony TV and not have a mess of cords to deal with behind the tv. Shaw cable box, PS3 and BluRay player function flawlessly. The Shaw remote even worked to turn the unit on and off. Im not sure the CEC works with a PS3 though but it recognized the BluRay player. Keep that little remote handy just in case.

Works as promised

Cons: Non so far

I have purchased from Monoprice a few times over the years. I am continually amazed by their quick response and the quality of their products. I purchased this switch because a HDMI input on my receiver went bad and this was a cheap fix. Everything works great. I finally set it up to my Harmony 880 remote and it was a breeze to do. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs it.

Quality switch. Doesn't always play well with other devices
Pros: Works better than other Monoprice models
The remote is compatible with Logitech multi-function remotes

Cons: Doesn't work with everything.

After trying the 5081 and having it bomb with nearly every device I own, I asked the advice of Tech Support. They suggested that this model has a higher chance of working better and they were right. My Toshiba TV, Phillips Blu-Ray player and Apple TV work well with it, but for some reason my D-Link Boxee Box does not. I ended up running Boxee straight to the TV. I'm not happy having 2 cords running up there but it is better than two component video cables. I have given up on switches and plan to just buy a TV with 7 or 8 HDMI ports. (Yes, more cables, but at least they will work.)

Great Switch
Pros: Passes audio to TV set without problems. CEC works great with my components - PS3, Blueray, and receiver. Image is clear and crisp, easy setup.

Cons: None yet.

Have had issues with TV changing to different input channel when I have powered off certain devices - specifically my cable box. This is a TV issue and is fixed by changing the input back to the HDMI I have the switch connected to. Otherwise, I have had great success. I have tried several other brands of switches but had problems with the audio on all of them. This fixed my problem and works great. Very happy with this switch.

Product 6259 4x1 HDMI switch w/CEC Review
Pros: Easy to operate, easy setup, excellent picture.

Cons: You sometimes have to toggle the power on this unit or switch channels to get the box to recognize the HDMI connection. Have not been able to get the CEC to work, just gave up. Do not like that only the remote can go directly to a channel but on the front panel you have to cycle through them all. Very slow to recognize the connections while switching inputs.

I could not give it a 10 even if the price was pretty good. The instructions to get the CEC working were vague. The unit is glitchy when everything is turn off to get it to recognize the connections. Very slow to recognize the connections while switching inputs.

Cons: None that I can think of

4x1 HDMI Switch
Pros: Using this to switch between my TIVO and computer (where my digital collection of movies is). It has a clean signal pass-through and does not interfere with the audio or video on my HDMI, no matter the format.

Cons: However, when I turn on my tv it does not recognize the fact that the tv is on, until I either switch to a different input, or cycle through them. After that, no problems.

I don't know if the CEC Engine works or not, as I don't use it. Overall, a good little device.

Works Great, but almost thought it was broken
Pros: Cheap
Remote allows for switching directly to an input

Cons: Remote only supports power toggle, not power on, and power off (minor complaint)

At first I thought it was broken because the audio was not working, but after actually reading the instructions that came with it I tried resetting the unit and then it worked fine.

Pros: Sturdy unit. Easy to operate. Works perfectly.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Used to split a HDMI input on my Yamaha receiver with my PS3 and laptop. PS3 is connected with a average length/diameter HDMI cable, and the laptop is connected with a 45' 22AWG CL2 Standard Speed HDMI Cable. Both inputs are flawless (imo) for image & sound. The unit itself is sturdy for being such a small piece and lays flat on top of my PVR. The remote is simple and effective. Great item for the price, wouldn't need anything better then this. Love monoprice!

Perfect!
Pros: Works right out of the box, just as advertised.

Cons: No auto switching? I honestly have to play with it a bit more (just hooked it up last night). But it would be nice if it could "auto select" devices based on priority and what is powered on. Either way, once I get my Harmony remote programmed, this will no longer be an issue.

Pros: Works great with all my HDMI toys.

Cons: Needed a little finagling to get it to work with my slim PS3.

I bought this because my 40" Samsung only came with one HDMI input and I have more devices than that - cable box, Boxee Box, and PS3 (slim). The first two work fine, but I needed to adjust a few things to get the PS3's image to display properly without flickering. First, use 24 AWG HDMI cable to connect the switch to your TV and your PS3 to the switch. Next, go into your video settings on PS3 and turn off the "Deep Color" function. Should work fine after that!

Pros: This worked way better then the non CEC version. I use it with a harmony remote and it has no problems... well almost no problems

Cons: Doesn't work with my xbox 360. The 360 won't fully turn on until it detects an output source so for some reason it never detects the switch/TV. I'll probably just have to run the Xbox on a different TV input but its a little annoying.

Overall I am glad this works and would recommend this switch over any of the non CEC switches.

4x1 HDMI switch review
Pros: I have a DirecTV DVR, an XBox 360, and an older 1080p HD TV with only one HDMI input (37" Westinghouse). This box prevents me from having to manually switch cables (a real pain). Works fine.

Cons: You sometimes have to toggle the power on this unit to get the XBox or DVR to recognize the HDMI connection. A bit inconvenient, but I'm not going to reduce the ranking, because this product works so well, is so inexpensive, and comes with a remote.

Works fine (with the Con explained above).

Works with small issues
Pros: low price, works with Harmony remote, does what it's supposed to

Cons: Seems to glitch evry so often. I'm running a Motorola HD DCT and a Samsung bluRay player. they both glitch every 3 or 4 minutes.
I know this issue is probably because I have the output to the TV running thru the Monoprice passive wallplate HDMI extenders. they work fine when I bypass the switch, but not great when it's connected. I know this going into them as Monoprice strongly suggests running 24 guage or lower HDMI cables.

Excellent product, Unbelievable price
Pros: Incredible switch that works with my DirecTV HD, HD DVD, and PS3 that outputs over a 45' 22awg HDMI run with HDMI repeater to my PJ. Excellently designed and compatible with HDMI repeaters in the output cable run.

Cons: None to date.

Must buy for anyone needing multiple HDMI inputs, and those like me with a ceiling mounted PJ and video sources at the base of the projection wall. I was constantly switching the HDMI cable from source to source, but the end connector finally broke after a few months of connecting/disconnecting. Now my setup is completely hands-free, and my 131" projection hasn't been degraded at all.

Pros: This is one of the few switchers I have found that is 3D (Bly Ray and Cable Box) compatible.
Works Great.

Cons: Some small pixilation with 3D Blu Ray (only certain DVD's).

Pros: The item arrived in record time and looks great!

Cons: Audio not working.

My new wall mounded television is not receiving an audio signal from the 3 HDMI devices connected to the switch. The video feed is also poor as the video signal periodically terminates. The quality also looks degraded. I have determined this error is specific to the switch as if I connect any of my other devices directly to the TV and everything works properly and looks perfect.

Pros: Expandability of HDMI ports on TV, small footprint, matches the rest of my entertainment center.

Cons: Four ports, a little weird to switch between ports without the remote.

This thing is great for the price. I was debating between getting this one and getting one that had more ports on it, but was unsure if I was going to need more. Well, after using it for a bit and getting a new computer, I've already outgrown the four ports. That's my mistake in not planning ahead and not that of the manufacturer. I have had zero problems with this. The picture comes through just as clear as if it was plugged right in to the back of the television and it's small enough that it didn't take a lot of time to figure out where it was going to live in my set up. Setting it up was a breeze.

The only thing that I would say is a detriment to the product is more of a nit picky thing. The button that controls the switching between ports and the power button are the same thing. I think that I would have preferred there to be two buttons, one for each function, as it took a few times getting used to using as I had misplaced my remote. Like I said, a nit picky thing, and definitely not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination.

Doesn't work with PS3
Pros: works with Geforce 260 in my pc.

Cons: ports 1,2,3, and 4 do not work with PS3, and i have tried a few cables. Will try resetting the ps3 with the trick of holding the button down, but i doubt it will work. Seems to me that this switch or the PS3 doesn't conform 100% with standards, my money is on the switch.

get a different one if you plan on using a PS3

Good, but not 100% compatible
Pros: Affordable. Easy to use. Works with Harmony remotes. Works fine with my Xbox360 and DirecTV HD DVR.

Cons: Does not work with my Panasonic Blu Ray player no matter what cable I use. Picture is grainy and lines flash all over the screen. Audio cuts out constantly.

Good product that has one fatal flaw in MY setup. I'd give it a full 10 star review if it was 100% compatible with every one of my devices. Current setup is a 42" 1080p Panasonic Plasma (TCP42S2), Panasonic Blu Ray player (BD65K I think), DirecTV HD DVR (HR21, I think), and an Xbox 360. Running 3 HDMI cables to the switch, one out to the TV and one TOSLINK cable back to my receiver for audio

Hit and miss with PS3
Bought this to attach my SHARP LED TV to a PS3 and HD PVR that are 30ft away from the TV with one cable.

I have issues where the picture periodically blacks out when using the PS3. Connecting to the PS3 directly works flawlessly, but with the switchbox, it has been hit or miss.

PVR works without issue.

Hi Mvannie,

Sorry about the difficulties with the switch box. Here are a couple things to check or try.

Have you tried connecting to each of the 4 ports. Some devices may work better on one port than another.

If that doesn't work, try resetting the HDMI output of the PS3 to optimize it. Here's how do do that. Power down the PS3. Make sure the switch is on and set to the input that the PS3 is connected to. Make sure the display is on and set to the correct input. Power on the PS3 by touching the I/O button. Keep your finger on the button until it beeps twice. It will beep once to turn on and then a second time a few seconds later to go into the output detection mode. Release the I/O button after the second beep. You should get a message on your screen stating that an HDMI connection has been detected. Follow the prompts and indicate yes, we it asks if you want to set it to the optimal settings for HDMI.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Howard

Just works
Pros: Provides extended HDMI connectivity without loss of signal strength or clarity. Supports full 1080p. Easy to install and configure.

Cons: None

Attaches to my Onkyo system and supports my Apple TV, PS3, Samsung HDMI TV, and Comcast digital cable appliance. I use my Logitech Harmony Remote to control them all. Flawless.

Nice unit with remote. Attractive. Works perfect unless for most things however some stuff like my PS3 do not work with this device. Otherwise it would be a 10/10

Great 4x1 HDMI 1.3b switch that is also CEC engine compliant. Works great with my Sony DVD player and Sony TV.

Little Buggy
Works ok overall but I have to switch back and forth between inputs to get it to work most of the time. The tv cuts in and out once in a while which is annoying. Say what you will about different implementations of CEC across different manufacturers, even with that feature turned off it still has a few issues. Expected this to work a little better since I love monoprice.

Hit or miss product!
I echo John II's previous remarks concering this box. I found a similar problem with my Comcast Motorola receiver. It works great with my Samsung blue-ray player and the color, HD and sound are great but beware that this box may not work with all your inputs which can be very frustrating.

Great Product
I have no complaints from this product. I've had it a few months now, and it works great. Picture quality through the HDMI ports are not degraded in any way compared to the component being plugged directly into the TV's HDMI port.

Highly Recommended!

Great unit with a fast switch
This is a very simple unit to use and is reliable. It switches inputs very fast and can differentiate between inputs easily. Unfortunately the CEC function isn't reliable with all manufacturers and you often have to switch inputs manually or by the remote. Otherwise, it does exactly what it says: supports full color HDMI to 1080P, blu-ray looks fine and it does it's job efficiently.

Works as advertised
I bought this item because my TV did not have enough outputs for my HDMI desires. This product not only is easy to set up, but comes with a little remote that makes switching seemless. A very affordable solution when you buy the HDMI cords from Monoprice.

Nice fix while you are waiting to upgrade equipment.

A great switch
This is a great switch that does exactly what it's supposed to. I've got it working through my Logitech Harmony remote, and it transitions from input to input seamlessly. Picture quality is excellent. I have an HDMI to DVI cable from the switch to my TV, and my dvd player, media center pc and satellite receiver all coming into the switch via HDMI. Things are working great and this switch is doing it's job.

I wish it worked for me
I ordered this unit because my 2+ year old Panasonic Viera has only one HDMI port. However, the TV does not support CEC. The following describes what happens both using CEC mode and not using the CEC mode on the Monoprice switch

When both the Dish PVR (vip722 - stand by mode) and the TV are turned off, the Monoprice switch - remaining on - loses the connection, although the port setting does not change. I have to use the switch's remote to cycle the input ports to get it to "wake up" and pass the signal.

The chatline-tech was only able to suggest I replace the cable (2 meter/6 ft) switch to the TV because the signal strength might be low. This did not help. The PVR-to-switch cable is only about 45 cm (1.5 ft)

May work for you, not for me.
