Pros: Works as stated out of the box, even with my Logitech Harmony remote!

My old Vizio only has 2 hdmi ports while I have 3 hdmi devices (dvr, xbox360, htpc), this switch works properly and even passes audio with no problems whatsoever! It also works with my Logitech Harmony remote! Once again, Monoprice has the best product for certainly the best price out of all 3 Internets in the Orion Arm!

Works great with a variety of HDMI devices. Expect around 10 sec switch times while end-to-end devices re-sync.
Would prefer to have an external IR receiver jack to allow non-line-of-sight placement, but for the price this unit works fine.

Exactly what the doctor ordered...
|
This switch works perfectly for my situation. Here's what I needed the switch for... When I installed my Home Theater system, I only wanted a single hdmi cable from my TV to my home theater equipment. Everything was being funneled through my Yamaha receiver. This worked great until I "had" to get a cable box.
I didn't want the requirement to turn on my home theater receiver just to watch cable TV. I wanted the ability to run the cable signal either directly to my TV or through the receiver. There are many times (like watching the news) that I don't need to spend the extra energy pushing the signal through my receiver.
This switch allows me to select which signal will be pushed to the TV. My TV hdmi cable is now hooked up as the hdmi output for this switch. The two hdmi inputs that I use are from my receiver and the cable box. (I bought the 4x1 box for possible future expansion and the extra cost was minimal.) Also, my cable box has both hdmi and component audio/video, so I can still run the cable signal through the stereo for sports, etc that require the full home theater experience.
I have this all controlled using a Harmony remote so that my wife, kids, and friends don't have to fumble with multiple remotes. Depending on the activity selected, this switch is automatically controlled. It's great!

HDX-401E HDMI switch with remote
|
My Somy XBR2 only has two HDMI inputs. I needed three more HDMI inputs. The Momoprice HDX401E is just what I needed for my OPPO BDP Blu Ray music player, Zune HD, and Toshiba DVD recorder. There is no loss of video or audio processing with the Monoprice HDX401E. The HDX401E works well with my 22 year old Mcintosh C35 premap. This updates my old Mcintosh to an AV preamp.

Great HDMI switch
|
This is a great switch for the price. I mounted my TV above my fireplace and only have one HDMI cable running from my TV to my cabinet. I am using this device to switch between my DVR, DVD player, and PS3. The switch works great and the remote is very convenient.

Perfect Solution
|
I purchased the Monoprice 4X1 HDMI switch so that I could use HDMI connections for both my High Definition cable TV and Home Theater DVD inputs without having to swap cables, since my Sony HD TV has but one HDMI input.
The Monoprice HDMI switch is the perfect solution for my situation. I control all the equipment, including the HDMI switch, with a Harmony universal remote control. The Monoprice HDMI switch works perfectly and the switching is seamless. I have almost forgotten that the switch is even there it works so well.

|
I was using a Denon receiver to switch my HDMI inputs, and wanted to save money. I realized that having all of my gear switched on all the time when not listening to speakers was a waste of energy and money.
It seemed everyone was happy with this switcher and the price was right, so I purchased it.
This switch is easily programmed into the Logitech Harmony remote (yes, the switch is available within their list of hardware) and the switch functions exactly as it should, without any issue or loss of picture quality.
100% satisfied.

This product works splendidly! I have it hooked up on the input side to a Blu-Ray player and my DVR and on the output side to an HD tv. It passes all the HDMI information from these inputs without a hitch. The price was great. HIghly recommended.

HDMI Switch
|
My Surround Sound AV receiver was one year too old to include HDMI or DVI in the Switcher. So, I had to add an HDMI Switch. It was simple to hook up and operate. It was inexpensive and works great. I have had some very bad experiences with off-shore products do not perform, IR remote is not strong, batteries are dead on delivery. Monoprice quality control was working - keep it up!

Great HDMI Switch
|
No complaints here.
I'm not using it anymore though cause I bought a new TV with 4 HDMI ports. But this was a great switch to have on a TV with 1 HDMI port. I'd recommend it highly.

Simple, effective, and inexpensive!
|
If you just need to switch a few HDMI sources between a single display, like an older HDTV with only one HDMI input, this is a great and inexpensive way to go. I couldn't find a cheaper alternative anywhere, and the switch works very well. It has an IR input for switching inputs and power, which allowed me to easily add its functionality to my programmable remote.
When switching inputs, my TV displays some brief video noise and some very minor audio noise (not loudly like some HDMI switching I've seen with other devices). Not a big deal to me, but perfectionists might not like it.
The look blends in well with my other components. I didn't think the LEDs were too bright, they were comparable to other components in my system.
The included remote is kind of cheesy looking, but I didn't need it once I programmed my remote.
I've had this in service in my home theater system for 3 months and am very pleased!

Inexpensive and works flawlessly! I have an old Mitsubishi Diamond 55 inch Projection TV with 1 DVI connection for High Def. I run my Blu-ray and HDTV DVR Tuner thru the Monoprice Splitter and works like a charm! Highly recommend this product!

4x1 HDMI switch.
|
With more and more devices requiring HDMI ports, my receiver ran out of spots. This switch is perfect!
Simple and easy to use, simply plug everything in and away you go. I have Harmony remote and this switch was listed in the supported devices. So I setup my remote and it worked perfectly. I cannot comment on the included remote other than it is small. I was expecting to see some downgrade in video quality, but I cannot see any.
Would highly recommend this product and compared to big box store prices, this is really the only way to go.

Like many, I have a tv with two HDMI inputs and with a need for four. I purchased the Monoprice HDMI switcher along with a universal remote to manage the turning on or off numerous pieces of equipment to get to the device I wanted to view a video from. Up to this point, that required juggling numerous remotes and getting up to manually switch a HDMI source. The Monoprice HDMI is worthy of a 10 because it works seamlessly behind the scenes 100 percent of the time. I highly recommend it.

Works great as a hub into my audio receiver
|
I run all of my devices through my Onkyo surround receiver (Satellite, DVR, blu-ray DVD, VCR, Wii, X-box 360). Since my receiver only has 2 HDMI inputs, I needed something that would work as a "hub" so that several devices could share one HDMI input. This did the trick! I have my Satellite feed going into HDMI1 and connected this switch to HDMI2. I then connected my DVD player, X-box, etc. to this box and it works fine.
Best of all, this device can be controlled by my Logitech Harmony Remote!
I have to admit, at this price point I was skeptical, but figured it was worth a shot. It works great for my purposes. Very pleased!

This thing works!
|
I have my ps3 and wd tv live player connected to the switch, which then connects to my denon reciever. So far this little gadget has worked flawlessly, the picture and audio are fantastic. It also works with my logitech remote control which is a huge plus. Highly recommended.

***YOU MUST HAVE UPDATED CABLES***

I found out the hard way, which I forgot to mention on my previous post. My PS3 would not come in in 1080p. I thought it was the PS3 because everything else worked fine. It was the cable.
Your cables MUST BE v1.3. My older, 1080i cable would work through my other splitter and registered fine when connected directly to my TV as 1080p (but really wasn't).
So, I'd bet my life that a majority of the people here who had issues thinking the box was bad are incorrect. Start off with some new, fresh, v1.3 (or better if they make them) cables.
Save yourself some frustration, get new (or confirmed good cables. I think this unit may just be a little finicky.

I've had a couple of these splitters because our 1080p TV just had ONE HDMI port. What the heck were they (Westinghouse) thinking?
This thing is great! Not only does it have both the remote AND the push button switch on the front of the unit, you can also turn the thing off! Our other ones would stay on all the time unless you unplugged it from the back.
I'm yet to have a problem with it, it's performed perfectly.
I have an XBOX, PS3 and DirecTV box connected to it.

Product was as described and works flawlessly. Just what my system needed. Full marks for cables ordered as well. Cost including international shipping very much a bargain.
Cross border shipping was amazing, I have rarely seen such service. Paid for UPS Saver in hopes of not having delays and hidden costs. Order arrived in 2 days with no additional cost accept GST which was billed to me later via mail from UPS Canada. From California to Alberta, Canada in 48 hours to my door I still shake my head. Great work Monoprice. I will be back.

Works Right Out of the Box
|
Works perfectly right out of the box with a new Sony HTIB and existing satellite TV receiver (DirecTv) hooked into the switch then switch output into an older (with single hdmi input) Samsung HDTV. Wished all electronics were this easy to set up. Delivered on time, too.

Great Device
|
This is a great little device. My TV only has one HDMI input. This lets me take in all my HDMI devices. My TV did not like my Verizon DVR HDMI output, this resolved the issue. The remote works fine . . but the Logitech Harmony 1100 also controls the HDMI switch with all of the other devices too.
Well worth the price! It just Works!

Excellent HDMI switcher
|
I connected this HDMI switcher to my aging 7 year old Toshiba CRT-based 1080i RPTV using a DVI to HDMI converting cable and had no issues what so ever switching between a Panasonic Blu-ray and Toshiba HD-DVD players, no hiccups, freezes or delays, everything worked perfectly the first time.
Keep in mind that this switcher wont automatically detect a signal, so you'll have to switch manually to the desired input using the supplied remote, or program the switcher's codes into an universal remote.
I'm using a Logitech universal remote to control the switcher, very easy to program since this unit's codes are listed over at the Logitech site saving the time and hassle of having to 'learn' the codes into the Logitech remote.
If you need automatic switching and do not own an Universal remote with 'macro' programing capabilities, then look into a different model, but if you own a Universal remote this Monoprice switcher is perfect, especially for the price.

This switch worked exactly like it should have with no glitches or issues. I had previously tried a switch purchased from a local electronics store for over $100 and had nothing but problems with it. I don't see how you can beat this one!

I've had the switcher for about a month now and sometimes I forget it's there. I have a universal remote (universal remote R50) that turns it on and switches to the appropriate input. There is no quality loss at all. It's built relatively well. The led indicators on the front can be a bit overpowering if that sort of thing buds you.

Bought this to hook up a DirecTV box and DVD player through HDMI. Later paired it to a Harmony One remote with absolutely no problems whatsoever. If needed another, I would buy again.

Solved my compatibility problems ...
|
I previously had compatibility problems between a Monoprice 5x1 HDMI switch and my A/V receiver so I tried (at the suggestion of Monoprice support) the Monoprice 4x1 HDMI switch and it works perfectly (it seemingly has a different chipset that the 5x1 switch). So I recommend it if you have had similar compatibility issues.

Great Product
|
I set up this HDMI switch between my Blue Ray player and my HD satellite PVR. This product works great. Picture quality is excellent, switch works flawlessly.
I have a Logitech, Harmony programmable remote and was able to set this unit up to turn on and off with my system, and to switch inputs when I press one button to watch a DVD or another to watch satellite. The Monoprice model number, HDX-401, was listed in the remote online setup under Amplifiers Audio/Video Switch. Once the model number was imported, set up was a breeze. This unit has been a great addition to my home theater system! I really have nothing negative to say about the product.
Shipping was fast (three days from CA to OH) and items were well packed. Monoprice is my new favorite site to by my cables and electronic devices. You can't beat the quality and price.

problem with Switch
|
I hooked up the switch to my 50inch plasm hdmi and then hooked up my playstation3 and my macbook pro laptop. The playstation3 displayed fine but the laptop never worked.
I could not get the laptop to display on the plasm screen.
So the switch is useless to me at the moment.

Works great
|
I bought this switcher after reading all the reviews for this and other related switchers, both through Monoprice but also competitors. I decided Monoprice was the best option for the price. However, I was concerned by some of the reviews since some devices apparently won't work with the switcher. I decided to take a gamble. Glad I did.
I have a Samsung 40' LCD (with 2 HDMI ports), and needed to connect it to a Sony 5 disk changer Upconverting DVD/stereo/surround, and a new Samsung Blue Ray player and the Time Warner DVR box. I had learned from posting that many DVRs have malware that might be added by the DVR to block the switcher, so I probably needed to connect the blue ray and the separate DVD player through the switcher (I am not quite ready to get rid of the DVD since it is surround and does a great job with the regular DVDs - but I got an inexpensive Blue Ray player so for new movies I can buy them in BR for now but still watch - some later point I will retire both for a Blue Ray Surround).
I had an initial problem with connecting the Blue Ray player through the switcher to the TV, since I got sound interruption and some white lines flashing on the TV in playing Blue Ray disks - both were annoying. However, I had used a less expensive monoprice HDMI cable to connect up the BR player to the switcher (with my original Rocket Fish HDMI cable to go from the switcher to the TV). I determined, however, that if I used my main Rocket Fish HDMI cable that was more expensive to connect the blue ray to the TV directly, the problem was solved, but if I connected the blue ray directly to the TV with the monoprice HDMI, it also had a problem. Thus the problem was the cable, not the switcher.
I also determined I had a similar problem if I switched out the first monoprice HDMI cable with the other identical monoprice HDMI cable that I had bought, although neither had problems conveying the Upconverting DVD signal to the TV. I left one of those lower end cable to connect the DVD to the switcher. I thus had to buy another Rocket Fish HDMI cable to connect the Blue Ray to the switcher and the problem was solved - switcher works fine with these devises.
While monoprice makes good products, if you notice you have problems with the switcher, you might try changing the HDMI cable to a higher end one and see if it solves the problem. The switcher was fine, but it makes me less likely to by monoprice HDMI cables if you need them to move blue ray images (I think they are too complex and the cable is not as good for those sort of things). They seem to be fine for other less significant HDMI images.
As a side note, I tried everything under the sun to try to carry the surround sound signal from the blue ray player with digital optical cables but to no avail (it would not maintain 5.1 definition). I assume outside of a blue ray surround sound, the signal is lost.

|
I have orered several different types of cables from "Monoprice" in the past and never had any problems with shipping, price or quality. This is the first electronic item I have ordered from "Monoprice" I use the switch to connect HDTV To a PC and Camera, No problems with
Switch works fine. If you need cables or other items I
recomend give them try.

|
The switch box came in 3 days. It worked like a charm. I have my play-station 3,dvd player & dvr cable box hook up to it & the remote for the box is also nice. Have been using it for about 2-3 weeks now & i love it. Way cheaper then Best Buy who want's $150 for a similar box that does the same as this one does for only $36 which fits everybody's budget.

Works great
|
Inexpensive, compact and simple to use. Powers up with default selection of HDMI port 1 so the STB goes there DVD, PS3 and media streamer go to the others. Switching is easy. Would be nice to know how to set up multi-device remote AUX to control this switcher but otherwise, it is good value.

Bought this switch to use with my 46" samsung LCD which has 3 HDMI ports. The switch works good with my bell receiver, Xbox and DVD but does not like my SV8000 FTA HD receiver which shows a lot of line and dots and is therefore unwatchable.
For what I'm using it for I would give it 8/10 and 10/10 price wise.

Excellent device
|
The picture quality is great. You would expect it to diminish a little bit, but it doesnt. Its very simple to set up, and very simply to switch between devices with a touch of a button on the remote. I would recommend this to others.

Great 4 port manual HDMI switcher
|
This was the fourth HDMI switch I tried with my system and the only one that worked without any problem. I recently added a Samsung Blueray player to my system which only has one HDMI input and wanted to add a few HDMI inputs to allow for a little expansion. I have a Sony DVD jukebox, and a Sony E60A20 "WEGA" LCD TV. The signal from the Sony DVP-CX995V DVD player would drop out from time to time with the auto switchers and the signal would bounce between inputs even with the "priority" input feature. The auto switching may be fine for units that turn off 100% but for video sources that do not truly turn off it can be a problem. I found it rather time consuming to try to get the information about these devices. I tried several that had the auto switching functionality and I had trouble with each one. I really did not want or need the auto switching functionality so this unit works great right out of the box. This switch does the job and cost less than 1/2 as much as the other HDMI switches I tried. It may not come with any HDMI cables but given Monoprice has the cables at a good price even the purchase of the cables is affordable. This unit seems to do just what is stated and does it well.

Great Addtion / Switch / Price
|
This is a great addition for adding HDMI inputs to a TV that doe snot have enough.
I have a High Def Plasma that only had one HDMI input and just added a Blue Ray player. To get the benefits of that I wanted to use an HDMI Cable. This switch was a great price and works perfectly. It is small enough to hide in with the other equipment and with 4 inputs can easly add more than my Satelite and Blue Ray.

Perfect for my needs
|
I previously had the 2-way passive HDMI switch to switch between a PS3 and DVD player on one HDMI input on plasma TV, with the other TV HDMI input for STB/DVR. This meant 2 HDMI cables to the TV.
Now I have only 1 cable to the TV from the 4x1 box which connects a PS3, DVD, DVR and media player.
No more switching HDMI on the TV and then manually switching to the PS3 or DVD. Great solution for me.

HDMI SWITCHER
|
This switcher does exactly what it says it does and is half the price of what's on the market. I use it with my x-box, ps3 and DVR and it works great. For the price it can't be beat. No auto switching but it has a remote so it doesn't really bother. A great product.

It just works
|
I reworked my entertainment center since I'd added one component more than my TV could handle directly. The switch does what it should, and I'm using a Logitech Harmony remote which has the configuration necessary to handle it which is great.

Stuck in Hawaii
|
aloha, I had just made a purchase of a 50 inch flat screen TV here in Hawaii. While setting it up I found that it had only two HDMI in-puts. After researching my options I realized I would need a HDMI switch. I then went out shopping for the switch locally and found that the prices were ridiculous here in Hawaii. A friend recommended Monoprice. After reviewing your web site I made a order of the 4X1 Enhanced 1.3b Certified HDMI switch at a great price. It took a little longer to get here but I do live in Hawaii. Once I got the switch out of the box set up was a breeze. Great Switch
|
Works! Also works with my Logitech Harmony programmable remote. Lights are not too bright.
I have it attached to a Dish Network HD box and a Western Digital Media Center and it switches back and forth with no problems.

Very happy with the product, works great, very compact unit. Was shocked how fast it arrived, very impressed!
Not the fastest switching, but not slow enough to be bothersome - my biggest complaint would be that the lights are a little too bright... somehow I'll get over it :)

Sleek and well-built
|
When I bought this switch, I was just looking to get a switch with remote to make it easier to manage our connections to the PS3 and XBox 360 consoles. However, this little switch surprised me with its sleek look and it just feels so solid. We have it sitting on a shelf with an alarm clock on it - you can't even tell its there until you use the remote to turn it on and see all the lights come on.
Even from a distance, its easy to tell which input you're on - 1, 2, 3 or 4.
Would I buy it again? In a heartbeat.

HDMI Switch
|
This HDMI Switch works exactly as described. Delivery was quick, and installation very simple. While the supplied remote works fine, the added benefit is my I added the switch to my Logitech 1000 remote so all my components switch with one button. The great price just sweetens the deal and I highly recommend this product as I have not experienced any problems.

This item was shipped promptly and arrived undamaged. It is a well built unit in a heavy metal case and runs completely cool (it is on 24/7). I have three HDMI sources connected and it performs beautifully. I have no complaints on this unit nor on Monoprice.

Nice Switch!
|
Appears to work as advertised, no noticable image degradation sharing a 22" monitor @ 1680x1050 between 2 PCs.
However, in my case I'm running a dual monitor setup with a single monitor DVI KVM switching the primary monitor and this MonoPrice 4x1 switcher controlling the secondary monitor this is where the fun begins... The display settings in each PC get confused when switching the secondary monitors independantly of the primary display, resulting in the secondary monitor no longer being recognised or the screen resolution of the primary display defaulting to the lowest setting. The only way to get the desired result is to cold boot only one of the PCs with the secondary monitor set for it via the 4x1 switch. But turn on the second PC and then switch secondary monitors and everything gets screwed up.
I can't really say these problems I'm experiencing are caused by a defective 4x1 switcher, rather, it's likely a problem with Windows XP and/or the graphic cards. Most likely this switcher works fine for it's intended purpose of sharing a single display between several single-head video display devices.
One other thing, although 24 gauge or thicker cables are strongly recommended by MonoPrice for this switch (see red print under product description or specs section), such thick cable makes it much more difficult to connect to the switcher and route cables between system components which can place a lot of stress on the fairly small and relatively fragile HDMI ports. Knowing what I know now, I probably would have tried the thinner/less expensive/more flexible 28 gauge cables especially considering my display resolution is lower than the 1920x1080 max spec this switch is rated for.

Great HDMI Switch for a low price
|
This was exactly what I was looking for.
My lcd tv only has 2 hdmi ports and I have 5 items that need a hdmi input.
Cable box - Directly to tv HDMI1
Mac Mini - Connected through Switch
Blu ray player - connected through switch
xbox 360 -connected through switch
ps3 - connected through switch
It works really well and the box is smart enough to only switch to the ports that have something turned on. I've had it for about 2 weeks now and have had zero complaints.

Works great, I connected my Xbox 360, Tivo to the HDMI Switch. Then ran a 35ft HDMI cable to an 40" LCD TV on the wall.
It's metal, heavy and looks well built. I like it.

How can you beat it?
|
It's a solid feeling unit out of the box with nice heft and decent feedback from the front panel switches. I plugged it in, took 5 minutes to update my Harmony remote for the new device and *bam* she's working perfectly. Can't comment on the included remote as I haven't and don't expect to use it. For the money - this this is a perfect value.

I have to say that I'm definitely impressed with monoprice (again). This switch is perfect for my setup: a PS3, a HD DVD player, DVD Recorder, and DirectTv box. The remote that comes with the unit, is simple, but do you really need something complicated for such simple tasks?

I used this switch for over 5 months and haven't had a single issue until recently. I bought a PS3 and was not able to pass through 1080p to my TV. The image was vibrating on the screen. After some troubleshooting i confirmed it was the switch. Other than that one issue i was extremely happy with this and it definitely served its purpose.

Great Cables
|
I ordered the cables and the 4 way switch as well, both arrived in two days at no extra cost as i live in California. The cables and the switch both work great and as yet i have no negative comments what so ever for the product. Also, because the cables are white, they blend in with my living room better and aren't as present.
