Excellent value

Pros: Overall picture quality, price, no pixel defects

Cons: Crap stand, crap audio, horrid user interface

Not listed in the pros / cons, is the fact that this monitor won't accept 4K res from the Roku4 due to the monitor not being HDCP compliant. It's not a good or a bad, it is what it is, but I wish Monoprice would have listed that in the specs prior to my purchase.

Ultimately, for the price, I'm very happy. 4K resolution, driven 60hz / Displayport, is a wonder. Super sharp, tons of screen real estate, and super high rez photos and YouTube 4K vids are jaw dropping.

The stand is crap, but you can always get a VESA mount. Black levels can be better, some light leakage is present. The UI, however, is truly, utterly, craptastic. But if you set it and forget it in DisplayPort, no worries.

For the price, I'd happily buy again.

Hello EH,

Thank you for your review and sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with PID 13809. If I may ask when connecting the Roku 4 is it connected directly? Also, I would recommend trying to use a different HDMI cable to connect it and also you would want to be sure that the cable is a High Speed HDMI cable. The monitors HDMI 2.0 port would require a High Speed HDMI cable. If you would not mind trying a different HDMI source like a bluray player to see if it will display the picture.

Mark, the Roku issue was already resolved by a Monoprice tech. He confirmed to me via email that the monitor is not HDCP compliant, which is what the Roku4 requires to output 4K into the monitor. It is not a HDMI cable issue.

Gotcha, I just wanted to reach out to be sure if it might have been a defective unit. The Roku 4 requires HDCP 2.2 compliant HDMI ports to push 4K content, which our monitor is HDCP compliant but just not HDCP 2.2 compliant. I do apologize for any inconvenience and should you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us. Have a wonderful rest of your day.

Good Monitor

Pros: Screen

Cons: Speakers and Stand.

Very nice screen with tons of connection options. It's bright and colors are great for a $400 monitor.

The built in speakers suck, don't even think of using them. They should have saved $20 and not included them. If you're going to use powered speakers or headphones anyway then this isn't a big deal, but watching movies or listening to music with the built in speakers would be a terrible experience.

The stand isn't very good either. Even slight bangs on the desk, as little as putting down a coffee cup, causes the screen to wobble. It isn't so bad that the monitor is likely to fall, but it's very noticeable. I got used to it, but if that type of thing bothers you then you'll need to figure out a way to isolate the monitor from vibrations.

Solid 4K Monitor

Pros: 4k for $400
Large viewing angle
Matte finished screen

Cons: Not the same 4k monitor as was previously advertised
Base only works in standard mode not portrait mode.
Power brick

I ordered one of the earlier 4k monitors from Monoprice which had a better build quality, metal frame solid base that also did portrait mode. While this one feels cheaper but the screen is a bit better even if the base is plastic and feels a bit cheap.

Excellent monitor for the price

Pros: Perfect picture, brilliant and accurate colors (out of the box, I even calibrated it and there were only minor changes), excellent brightness levels, all with fantastic features and warranty. I haven't had to use it because zero dead pixels means zero dead pixels. I got a magnifying glass and every one of the 8 million some odd pixels are working perfectly.

Cons: The stand might as well not be a stand, and there is some fairly noticeable backlight bleeding along the lower left edge of the screen. It has seemed to fade as time has passed these last few weeks. that said, I knocked off half a star. Sorry MP.

I really love it, the only change I would make (I dont give a damn about the stand. i use a monitor arm) is to turn the response time up a notch and make it 1-2ms gtg. Otherwise this monitor hangs with the best of them, and at the fraction of the price.

Issue with displaying at 60mhz with dual monitor

Pros: Awesome picture quality and well built.

Cons: Simple looking menu options with not much configurability other than the usual.

Love the monitor except for an issue where this monitor can't display in 60mhz at 4k when a secondary monitor is also connected. This monitor is connected via display port at 3840x2160 and my secondary monitor 1920x1080 is connected via dvi. When I extend my display only my secondary monitor will display at 60mhz. This 4 monitor will only go up to 30 mhz. I've tried every display settings to force it to 60 MHz but none works. The only way was to have this display alone and it will then do 60mhz just fine.

Thank you for your review and sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing. It sounds like it may be a limitation of your graphics card and what it can output when connecting more than one monitor. I would recommend looking into the specs of your graphics card to see what it is capable of when connected more than one monitor. Sometimes graphics cards might need an active adapter to reach certain resolutions or refresh rates.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely look into the graphic card. I have a Nvidia GTX 770.
