14-Watt (75W Equivalent) BR 40 LED Bulb, 1150 Lumens, Warm/ Soft (3000K) - Dimmable
Get a longer lasting, safe, and affordable alternative to standard BR40 light bulbs using this 14-watt BR40 LED Bulb from Monoprice!
This 120-volt bulb uses only 14 watts of power, but produces 1150 lumens of light energy at 3000K, equivalent to a 75-watt incandescent BR40 bulb. It uses the E26 "medium" Edison screw base, which is the standard home screw-in bulb type we're all used to.
This indoor bulb features a "flood" beam pattern and is 3.7" in diameter and 4.7" tall. It uses the Sanan SMD2835 chipset, is rated for up to 30,000 hours of use before failure, and carries a three year replacement warranty.
It generates light in the 3000K range with a Color Rendering Index greater than 80, which generates the kind of soft and warm feeling that is perfect for most home lighting needs. This bulb is fully dimmable without risk of damage to the bulb or a reduction in its expected life span.
Monoprice warrants these bulbs for a full THREE (3) YEARS and will provide a new replacement for any bulbs that fail due to defects in materials or workmanship during the warranty period.
PROS: LED is the coming thing, and I'm sure these bulbs are fine
CONS: The ad continues to advertise them as having a 3.7" diameter, but they are actually much larger and didn't fit into my existing fixtures. Monorprice sent em a label to return them, which I did. I haven't yet received a credit on my card, but I assume it will come through soon. In the meantime, the erroneous description remains.
PROS: Perfect form factor & weight (vs. CFL)
Plug 'n' play
Apparent low power consumption
Longevity (yet to be seen)
CONS: Too Pricey
PROS: Very bright lights at very reasonable price. As good as the much more expensive ones at the local hardware store. Bought 10 and installed them all. Getting ready to buy another several.
CONS: Plastic housing feels a little "cheap", but since you only feel it during the install it doesn't matter in the slightest!
PROS: Bright white light and smoothly dimmable. Ordered 4 more for my wife's home-office.
CONS: None so far.
PROS: Cool. Bright.
PROS: Very bright! Be prepared for being able to tan under these.
CONS: None, yet.
PROS: • Bright
• Warm, pleasing light color
• No humming or buzzing that I can hear
CONS: • Possibly narrow range of dimming
PROS: Cheap. Quality is same as the $30 Led bulbs.
CONS: So far havent seen any cons.
I bought a bunch of these bulbs and put them throughout the house, across 5 different dimmers. One of these dimmers is an older style, and it causes the bulbs to make a high-pitched buzzing noise. I will replace this dimmer with one that supports LEDs, but it will be kind of annoying until then.
The 3000K temperature is *slightly* whiter than I would like, but it does provide extra visibility, compared to 2700K. I think 300K is ideal for work spaces, such as kitchens, workshops, and offices, because it provides extra visibility, but isn't quite in the "harsh" range of white light.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase. These were my first LED lights, and my experience has been so positive, that I'm now on a mission to replace all of the incandescent bulbs in my house with LEDs.
PROS: Bright - these things are brighter than I expected. Good thing I have dimmer switches.
Price - these lights are about 1/2 the price of what other retailers are selling them for.
CONS: 3000K color temperature is slightly "whiter" than I would like, but it's barely noticeable. (2700K would have been ideal)
Slight buzzing noise on one of my dimmers.
