Much nicer than the R20 traditional can lights
I've been fiddling with our great room can lights array since we moved in to get 1) brighter light 2) wider thrown light. I tried dimmable CFLs and was not impressed by them. Just tried replace one of the 6 with the Monoprice LED 4 inch kit and already I'm very impressed. The fit was good and tight and the connections are first class. The glass of the housing is about flush to the ceiling, so be prepared for a different orientation of the old cans which where much more recessed, but also had a narrow beam throw. I much prefer this wide throw of the LEDs. Wife will have the final word.

PROS: Frosted glass, smooth dimming, bright, wide light throw (essentially no longer recessed), quiet.

CONS: Not as recessed as the can traditional bulbs they replaced, lowest dimming setting more bright than traditional bulbs, painted trim is not high quality, maybe could be 'warmer' colored light.

    Size incorrect in item description
The item description states that these are aluminum assemblies that are 10" in diameter and 4.1" tall. Turns out that they are 5 inch diameter and 4.1" tall. They are too small to fit my application, so I had to send them back.

PROS: I'm sure these are great lights, but I couldn't use them.

    CONS: item description incorrect.

    I can't believe the price!
I've been looking for some LED's to replace all my halogens in 4" recessed cans, but the prices are too high . . . until now! $16 is a deal. The quality is good and light rendering is almost dead on for an incandescent. My wife and kids haven't even noticed. I bought three to test them out in one short hallway and now I have to wait until they get back in stock to replace the others!

PROS: Amazing price. Same thing sells at Home Depot for $45!

    Warm color is nice.

Brighter than I thought they would be.

CONS: Requires some work to get them to seat completely flat against the ceiling.

    Better than expected
I replaced 4 spot lights in my family room, they were getting expensive to replace (on the order of $6~8 each) and wanted to reduce the energy because the kids leave them on all the time. I took a gamble on these at $15 ea with the hope that they would be as warm as the incandescents and as bright as the 60W. I was totally surprised at how bright and warm they were. You would not know that they are LEDs with the color. The first one was a challenge because the retainer clips needed to be re-formed to fit the existing can. So for the 2nd can on, I really bent them down (from original "L" shape to more of a bobbi pin shape) to interface easily with my old Home Depot cans - and they popped in without any trouble and seated well against the ceiling - and the disconnect plug on the cable made the screw-in a breeze. Now, I need to install a dimmer to the light switch to regulate the brightness to desired level (since they are dimmable). I am pleasantly surprised and will likely buy more for our kitchen island and install a dimmer on that circuit too. I like the low energy cost aspect best and the color is a big win.

PROS: Warm color and super bright compared to the 60W spots that I replaced

CONS: Made major bends to the retaining clips for easy insertion

PROS: Super easy install. brightness is perfect and as advertised. I have them working with a Lutron dimmer and no problems.

CONS: My one gripe and its minor, if you have to remove them you have to be careful or you can loosen the recessed light can they sit it.

    Love them
For the money you can't beat them. I am very, very happy with them.

PROS: Nice quality so far. They look nice

CONS: May not dim as low as I'd like in my theater, but I don't have a digital Lutron switch in yet specifically designed for LED. (I have 8 of these and 1 Halogen bulb and I am using a Lutron Spacer switch)

    Exceptional value, excellent brightness
I waited for these while they were on backorder. When they finally came available again I jumped on 6 of them for living room lighting. I just got done installing them and they look fantastic and dim really well. I highly recommend a dimmer because they get WAY brighter than I would every realistically use in our living room.

My only complaint is that the simple tension clips are too deep for normal ceiling drywall installation. They slip into the hole just fine, but once they're in, there is about a 1/4 inch gap between the ring around the light and my ceiling. So I'm guessing I'll to to remove them, re-bend each of the the 3 clips on my six lights to achieve a flush mount. Still happy with the units, just requires more elbow-grease than expected. Some light instructions about mounting best practices would be helpful for situations like this.

    PROS: Low profile

    Easy to install

CONS: Mounting clips too deep, so there's a gap below ceiling surface

    No instructions came in packaging
