Z-Wave Garage Door Sensor- NO LOGO

Monitor the status of your garage door using this Z-Wave® Garage Door Sensor from Monoprice!

Z-Wave is an interoperable, two-way RF mesh networking technology used for home automation and security. Battery-powered Z-Wave devices, such as this sensor, "wake up" when triggered and broadcast a Z-Wave alarm signal, which can in turn be used to activate other devices or perform preprogrammed tasks. Any Z-Wave enabled device displaying the Z-Wave logo can be used with Z-Wave devices from other manufacturers.

This sensor is designed to detect angular changes, such as would occur when a garage door is opened. When triggered, the sensor sends a wireless Z-Wave alarm signal, which can be used as a simple alarm or as a trigger to activate or perform other functions, such as turning on a light. It also has a tamperproof switch, which causes a different alarm signal to be sent when triggered.

Pros: Works well with Samung Smartthings
    Reasonable price
    Easy to install

    Cons: None

Purchased two of these, one for me and one for a friend. They connected with our SmartThings hub with no problem and work very well as one would hope and expect. We use Smartthings and these to alert us when the garage door has opened and also when it has closed.

    Works great with Almond+

    Pros: Fairly priced

Cons: Instruction manual could be better

Works fine with Almond+ router. The instructions do not show the correct orientation to attach the sensor to your garage door, so pay attention to that otherwise you will have incorrect triggers.

    Pros: Great price!

Cons: Would prefer better mounting instruction ....but I went tubing for that :)

I bought this product over more expensive Z-wave garage door sensors at other sites. This was by far the least expensive and performs as expected. This kind of price makes me wish I was Jay Leno with a 20 car garage!

Works Extremely Well with SmartThings Hub

    Pros: Low price, $20
    Compatibility with Smart Things
    Easy installation
Tested it and it works as expected

    Cons: None

At $20 on sale this device is a steel! I bought it for my Smart Things Hub (the newer Hub version that came out late 2015). I installed the battery while about 3 ft from my Hub. On the App I said locate device automatically but it didn't see it. I then went into the specific menu to add a specific device under garage door openers (I think) and it found it right away. it sync'd. i then used the 2 sided tape to mount it to the inside of the garage door. Overall installation time less 10 minutes. Now I can easily know if the garage door is open or closed. I plan to set some actions as well. Highly recommend this device for your smart home!

    Winkless

    Pros: Nicely built, reasonable price

    Cons: No Wink support

I must have been asleep, or at least had my eyes closed when I ordered this sensor, as I must have totally missed seeing the reviews that clearly stated it did not work with Wink. As I discovered, the Wink hub does 'pair' with the device, but only reads the battery health. Tipping the sensor does cause the Wink hub status light to flash green, but that's it. It should be fairly easy for the Wink folks to provide support for this sensor. I recommend that Monoprice get with them to integrate their product line with Wink.. The sensor seems well built and probably works well with other hubs, but doesn't work for me, obviously. So I'm giving the rating a generous 2 star. If Wink ever gets around to making this work, I'm sure I would change it to a 5 star rating.
