USB Powered Desktop Fan with Flex Neck - Black
Keep cool at your desk using this USB Powered Desktop Fan with Flex Neck from Monoprice!
This compact little fan draws its power from a USB connection, such as a USB port on a keyboard or from a powered hub. The fan blades spin at about 12000 rpm and are made of a soft foam material, which ensures that the fan is safe to use, even around young children.
The fan measures about 5.6" x 1.0" x 0.9" (141 x 26 x 22 mm) and weighs only 0.9 ounces (24.8g). The 2.3" rubber covered neck contains a soft metal insert, which allows it to be bent and retain its position.
When used with an External USB Battery Pack, this fan can be used anywhere, such as when camping, at the ballpark, or in the car.

PROS: Strong enough to cool you off, but quiet as a mouse! A very quiet mouse at that!
CONS: The twisty part could be a tad longer. As with any fan, if you need absolute quiet (I use mine in a recording studio) it must be isolated from the table it is set on because the vibrating is amplified by the table top. I put mine on a small piece of the kind of foam used in pillows and mattresses. It is even quieter than whisper quiet.
PROS: Im its biggest fan
CONS: nothing m8
Soft fan blades that don't hurt if they hit you.
PROS: Cost and concept
CONS: Not to much air flow
More important are the following:
1) This would be a great replacement for my hand-size battery-powered fan (with LED message), but for the weak airflow. I'm running it on a 5V/2A port of a mobile device charger. So how can we achieve a stronger air flow on this device?
2) After about a week of use, the fan - hub and all - fell off the stem. Oops! While it's back on there now, I expect that, soon enough, it will find its way off again. This would be fine if I (a) could swap in a larger fan AND (b) rely on the fan to be removable only on demand. Since that's not the case, I have to consider the device faulty.
I'll probably convert my battery fan to AC power. But I would love Monoprice to fix this product's design and manufacture it's tried-and-true technology, and Monoprice is capable of producing a better product.
PROS: No-worry safe
Positioning is pretty adjustable
Just the right amount of airflow from a foot away
CONS: Not enough airflow from two feet away
Adjustment arm would be better if cylindrical
Needs to be in the middle of everything to be felt
Build quality - see review.
Glad it was only a $3 idea, not going to be using it daily at my desk like intended
CONS: Loud as f****
CONS: This fan creates zero, zilch, nada breeze.
