    This light is great!
I do a lot of closeup work that just does not allow for a traditional flash. I have found this light to work very well as a continuous light source for my DSLR as an alternative to a bounce flash or larger lighting system when just doing closeup work. The adjustable brightness buttons are just in the right place to reach with your right index finger. I've noticed when editing the resulting photos that the light pattern is round and even. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase of this item.

PROS: magnetic filters, continuous light, nice radiation pattern.

    CONS: None

Very handy flash / camera light
I got this to have either a basic "wink-light" to add catch lights, or as an accessory video light for my Sony A7r. The Sony easily goes to high ISOs so that often a flash is not needed, but for the above purposes this little accessory is just right.

PROS: The flash seems to be very well thought-out and constructed. And the price is really right!

CONS: It will only go about as wide as a 35mm lens (on full frame), around 50° or so.

    Dug it so much I had to order a second . . . .
This 54-piece LED light is Sweet. For the price and what you get for your buck it's definitely worth $20.00. Filters (held by magents) and a case as well, Sweet. Did I mention it's bright as well? . . . . . If, (only used it once so far) it does drain batteries . . . just take them out after use and if like me you're using rechargeables, what does it matter.

PROS: Bright, great for macro work and doubled up on a camera rig it's good to go, Filters, a carrying case all for a great price.

CONS: Having to take out the batteries if in fact it will drain them? like I said, just take them out after use . . . is that a con? not for me it isn't.

    I absolutely love this thing!
After deciding I needed a small LED light for shooting video, I shopped around and found that these things can get VERY expensive. I found a few affordable ones, but this one impressed me the most. The other ones all seemed to take at least 6 AA batteries, which is ridiculous. This one only takes 4. It is relatively heavy with them in place, but that really should be expected and not a surprise to anyone. It is very compact and easily fits in my equipment bag. The design also seems superior to the cheap, plastic-y other ones I looked at. This is all enclosed and made of sturdy plastic. I love the magnetic filters, they attach firmly and feel very secure. One critique is that if you're using this in close quarters for video (interviews in my case), the light can be rather blinding because neither filter diffuses the light enough, so I put a piece of tissue paper between the LEDs and the filter and voila! I'm awaiting camera flash filters that I'll use instead of the tissue. It can be used as an external flash, however with my camera it completely washes out the pictures. I have no need for an external flash, I was merely testing it out, but keep that in mind if that is what you're looking for. I also just have a Sony Cyber-shot, so it's not really the type of camera that is set up for an external flash. All in all, if you need a small LED panel for video do not pass this up.

    PROS: VERY bright

    Very compact

    High quality

    Very sturdy

Can be used as a camera flash

    Adjustable brightness

    Carrying pouch

CONS: Too bright as a camera flash for my camera

Fairly heavy with batteries in it (4AA)

    Great on camera light
Even at 56 LEDs thins thing puts out a lot of light. If you are trying to light up a room, this is not the right product. But for a close up interview, this works well.

I fine even at its lowest setting it puts out enough to balance sunlight.

5500k matches sunlight well. Not JUST orange like other LED lights in its price range.

Build quality seems good. The plastic is sturdy and the shoe mount seems like it will take a beating.

PROS: Small. Good output. I like how the "filters" are part of the case. This way I don't have to carry a pouch along with my light.

Also the magnetic filters allow me to cut and put gel filter in between the LEDs and the filter. Nice for matching weird lighting situations.

CONS: I wish there was a rechargeable option. (Sony NP batteries) I just bought some ACDelco AA batteries (PID 7902) to solve that problem.

Got the first one and immediately ordered another one
I read the reviews and actually bought one similar a few years ago and paid upwards of $100.00 that worked with Sony NP rechargeable batteries. This unit with (4) rechargeable AA's for 20 bucks? . . . simply a no brainer. Well made, comes with an off and on switch, (+) and (-) buttons for dimming and puts out a lot of light! the amber/ frosted swappable magnetic filters again well made, and . . . it comes with a 6" long mounting bracket which will run you at least $6 on Amazon so factor that in and you'll see what an amazing deal this is. Lastly, with (4) AA's (rechargeable in my case) does not weight it down like some have mentioned, in my opinion it just makes it feel . . . solid! I just received my second unit so that in itself should tell you something, macro work, still photography with a constant light source and of course video this little unit meets and exceeds expectations. It also comes with a pouch? . . . for 20 bucks? Monoprice hit a home run with this piece of equipment!

    PROS: As mentioned above . . . .

CONS: Absolutely none so far. . . .

    Great light
Despite its low price this light works very well. Bright and wide light output looks great. The front and back switchable lenses are magnetic and attach firmly.

    Everything as advertised.
Just mount to camera with the included arm, put in batteries, and set your levels. That it! Super easy to use and is very, very bright. Almost paid twice as much for just the light itself, no arm. Very bright for a bedroom or small studio. Definitely recommend putting a piece of paper over to soften it a bit.

    PROS: Bright,
    Inexpensive,
    Easy to use.

CONS: Sort of heavy once the batteries go in, may tire out your arms if you're filming with it all day.

    Good size and output
I've been using this for a few weeks now on night photography projects and am very happy with the results. The even, dimmable output is spot on. I purchased some gel sheets and cut them to fit inside the light covers. Now I have a range of colors on the cheap. My only wish is a standard tripod-size connector so I can effectively aim it when it's not connected to the hot shoe.

PROS: Consistent light output, convenient to use.

CONS: Easy to accidentally turn it on in the camera bag and run down the batteries, hard to aim when not attached to camera.
