    67mm Standard Lens Hood

Improve your photographic results and protect your camera lens with this Lens Hood from Monoprice!

A lens hood serves several purposes. Most obviously it prevents side lighting from hitting the lens and causing glare or exposure problems. Less obvious is physical protection. When outdoors in windy and/or rainy conditions, the lens hood can help prevent moisture or airborne debris from coming into contact with the lens. Additionally, in the event the lens is dropped or bumped into a wall, the inexpensive lens hood will take damage instead of your expensive lens.

This lens hood is designed to screw onto the standard 67mm filter thread on the front of a lens. The hood is cylindrically shaped and extends about 3/4". The inside of the hood is sized and knurled so that the Monoprice 67mm Center Pinch Lens Cap will fit down inside the hood and firmly grip the sides to stay in place.

Review on Screw on Lens Hood.
This is a screw on lens hood, it helps with flare and ghosting it will also help protect your lens in case of impact (depending on the impact, it might also rip the front of your lens off) No reason someone should give this less than 5 stars because it does what it does.

PROS: Price, easy to use, very simple with no moving parts. Works with all lenses with same filter size.

CONS: Takes longer to attach/detach than typical bayonet mount hoods. Will cause corner shading on wide and ultra wide lenses (by design, this is what a hood does) If this happens to do you, buy a "petal" type lens. This provides more shading on the top/bottom and sides but not in the corners. If you use filters in combination with this, you will increase your chances of getting corner shading or vignetting. This is really basic physics but I wish monoprice would provide a guideline of what lens focal length will clear the hood. This might be hard because of the multiple sensor sizes on the market (4/3, APS, full frame, and medium format)

I'm a DSLR n00b, but bought this and put it on my t4i. It shows in the shots! I supposed a guy could modify it to make it work or crop it out.

Maybe this is common or something I should have been aware of, but was a little disappointed.

PROS: Screws on nicely, Cheap price, probably does its job

    CONS: Shows up in picture!
