Mount your Monoprice Action Cam on any smooth surface with this MHD Action Camera Suction Mount from Monoprice!

This mounting bracket is intended for use with the Monoprice MHD 2.0 Action Camera (PID 12179). It features a large 3 1/4" suction cup with a locking lever to ensure that the camera mount will not come undone. The mounting arm can be positioned then locked into place using the thumbscrews.

The mount comes with two brackets for mounting the camera. One requires the use of the slide-on Mounting Clip that comes with the camera, while the second mounts directly to the camera's 1/4"x20 UNC mounting point.

    MHD 2.0 Suction Cup Mount

I'll keep this as succinct and concise as possible. It works, but.. I'm not sure if they expect you to -just- use this in an exterior setting. On my car's painted surface, outside, works fine so far. Great suction, hardly any wiggle or vibration unless your road conditions are clearly terrible. But, for the dashboard, thats going to depend on the material of the surface, texture of it. Though, I didn't expect to use it here, not enough room. However, the windshield.. this is where I was wondering "Why don't I have a mount for this or a way to articulate it..", because I can't. The camera is always going to be upside down no matter what, and neither of the included mounting pieces articulate enough to situate the cam properly. I would have to rotate my MHD 2.0s footage in post-production everytime. Its an annoyance, but doable. I shouldn't have to feel like I ordered a piece that may still lead me to jerry-rigging my own mounts like I've already been doing.

Its not much money, and its helpful. But, could be a little more functional. I understand theres a mount that specifically says "dash" in the title as well, but many complain that thing doesn't articulate enough either.

I've reviewed quite a few products here already, and this was a personal buy for me. I'm not saying don't get it, it works, and it works well. Just not for every situation. I'd like my MHD to face the right way, if this suction cup wasn't even meant to accomplish that.

Great suction cup (but does not support MHD 2.0 Sport WiFi quick change mount)

Pros: Strong suction, joints lock securely

Cons: Not very configurable, no MHD 2.0 Sport WiFi camera quick change support

Note that this does not support the quick change mount for the MHD 2.0 Sport WiFi camera. It doesn't state that it does, but this is to warn people (like me, who don't read the description).

Despite that, you can easily attach it to the Sport WiFi with the tripod screw, and I use it for my Sport WiFi cam. It held onto my car's plastic bumper at 40 MPH, I haven't tested faster. It attaches tightly, the joints lock pretty well, and it's an overall good mount. I do wish it was more configurable like the GoPro mount, so you could remove the long arm and have the camera attach to the base for less leverage and thus less movement.

    Needs instructions

Pros: Great mount, affordable price, good suction for speeds over 100km/h

Cons: No instructions on proper use.

I really wish there was a set of instructions on using this mount. I foolishly mounted this on my car for several highway rides. Unbeknownst to me, I should have been locking the mount after putting it on my car.

After a couple highway rides, I lost the mount and my action cam after going 120km/h+

My fault for not seeking the proper technique. Had it come with an instruction sheet it would get a 9 or 10.

For those that are wondering, you have to lift the lever straight up (90 degrees) after acquiring complete suction. It will lock the mount firmly.

Most useful mounting for use as a Dash Cam

Pros: Very sturdy and low cost. It holds the camera very still when shooting video.

Cons: It could a swivel or adjustment to level the camera to the horizon.

I use my HD action camera as a dash cam on my vehicle and this suction cup mount works very well for that application. It holds the camera very secure when shooting video and the only time I see any vibration in the video is when I hit a huge pothole but I feel that gives authenticity to the video I am shooting. I am so pleased I am going to buy a second one.

    Really grips

Pros: Grips like crazy on a smooth surface.
    Flexible configuration

    Cons: None

I found that by moistening the suction cup - water or a little veg oil has allowed my mount to remain attached to my windscreen ( inside ) for over a week now and still holding strong. This really works with the Action camera having the ability to flip 180 degrees in Auto mode. The suction wouldn't work on my dash with a pebbled plastic surface but attaching the mount to the top of my windscreen and the camera upside down works great!
