MHD 2.0 Action Camera Suction Cup Mount

Mount your Monoprice Action Cam on any smooth surface with this MHD Action Camera Suction Mount from Monoprice!

This mounting bracket is intended for use with the Monoprice MHD 2.0 Action Camera (PID 12179). It features a large 3 1/4" suction cup with a locking lever to ensure that the camera mount will not come undone. The mounting arm can be positioned then locked into place using the thumbscrews.

The mount comes with two brackets for mounting the camera. One requires the use of the slide-on Mounting Clip that comes with the camera, while the second mounts directly to the camera's 1/4"x20 UNC mounting point.

Great suction cup (but does not support MHD 2.0 Sport WiFi quick change mount)
Note that this does not support the quick change mount for the MHD 2.0 Sport WiFi camera. It doesn't state that it does, but this is to warn people (like me, who don't read the description).

Despite that, you can easily attach it to the Sport WiFi with the tripod screw, and I use it for my Sport WiFi cam. It held onto my car's plastic bumper at 40 MPH, I haven't tested faster. It attaches tightly, the joints lock pretty well, and it's an overall good mount. I do wish it was more configurable like the GoPro mount, so you could remove the long arm and have the camera attach to the base for less leverage and thus less movement.

PROS: Strong suction, joints lock securely

CONS: Not very configurable, no MHD 2.0 Sport WiFi camera quick change support

    This SUCKS!
I works perfectly for what I need it to do. Took it out for an entire day of use attached externally to my car, both on metal and glass surfaces. Through twists, turns, dust, and speeds up to 90 MPH, the mount didn't even flinch!

PROS: Great suction hold, easy to secure.

Great accessory for your small camera!
Purchased for a GoPro camera, at about 2/3 the cost of GoPro's name-brand accessory. It has very strong adhesion to a flat, smooth surface when applied. Makes it somewhat difficult to remove when the job is done, but, hey... isn't that what you'd want? I certainly wouldn't want my expensive camera falling off in the middle of a shot!

PROS: Strong suction almost TOO much!

    CONS: None that I found.

This holds the camera to my M/C helmet
    It's great!

PROS: I can ride my motorcycle and take photos or video

    CONS: None

Suction cup mount sucks (in a good way)
I bought one of these just as a curiosity when it was onsale, early in 2013, and enjoyed it so much, I returned to buy one later. Unfortunately, I did not get the same deal, but I still think I got my money's worth in value.

PROS: Been using one of these mounts for 4 months on a vehicle front windshield. The windshield has a greater angle backwards than some cars, and this mount allows me to adjust the camera to shoot dead ahead. In a Dodge van, the front windshield is curved left to right, so one must do a few test shots to insure your camera is not canted to the left or right. It solidly holds the camera, and performs admirably.

CONS: No real downside that is the camera's fault. On a more curved windshield, it has the same problem any suction cup for any camera would have. And with some preparation, it is no problem at all.

Most useful mounting for use as a Dash Cam
I use my HD action camera as a dash cam on my vehicle and this suction cup mount works very well for that application. It holds the camera very secure when shooting video and the only time I see any vibration in the video is when I hit a huge pothole but I feel that gives authenticity to the video I am shooting. I am so pleased I am going to buy a second one.

PROS: Very sturdy and low cost. It holds the camera very still when shooting video.

CONS: It could a swivel or adjustment to level the camera to the horizon.

    Good product for the money
This is good camera for the money. Using on my motorcycle. I'd recommend it.

PROS: Good buy for the money

CONS: My camera needs a reset every once in a while.

    Really grips
I found that by moistening the suction cup - water or a little veg oil has allowed my mount to remain attached to my windscreen ( inside ) for over a week now and still holding strong. This really works with the Action camera having the ability to flip 180 degrees in Auto mode. The suction wouldn't work on my dash with a pebbled plastic surface but attaching the mount to the top of my windscreen and the camera upside down works great!

PROS: Grips like crazy on a smooth surface.

    Flexible configuration

    CONS: None

    Lots of options!
Not quite as good a mount as a RAM, but pretty close and much cheaper. The main mounting arm has about a 30 degree bend, which places the cam inwards toward the base, thereby potentially bumping the surface on which it is mounted. It is not a huge problem, as I merely loosen the screw and move the arm away from the window. However, I would think that a bend in the other direction would have been a better engineering choice.

The included mounting ears give several options for mounting the cam onto the mount. Since the Monoprice mini cam must be mounted either upright or upside down (auto-rotation only works at 180 degrees, not at 90 degrees), the choice of mounting ears is worthwhile and allows the cam to be mounted upright on a vertical surface.

I recommend this suction cup mount for mounting on hard smooth surfaces such as glass, fiberglass, or metal. Dashboards usually won't work due to the texture of those soft surfaces.

    PROS: Sturdy
    Secure
    Versatile, multiple mounting ears

CONS: Mounting arm bent the wrong way.

Works O.K. - Doesn't keep suction that well on dash board
Not bad for the price. I may try out a different mount to see if something else works better for a car cam.

PROS: Suctions well to coffee table, kitchen table, etc.

CONS: Doesn't stick to Dashboard in car.
