Aluminum Tripod/Monopod Expert Series - Large

Effortlessly keep your camera steady and stable with this Aluminum Tripod from Monoprice!

This tripod is constructed of aviation-grade aluminum, which is only slightly heavier than carbon fiber, but at a considerable savings in cost. The quick release leg extension locks and locking leg angles make it easy to quickly setup, so you won't miss that perfect shot while messing around with complicated or difficult to use accessories.

The tripod can be setup with a maximum height of 65.4" to a minimum height of only 11.2". The central column can be detached from the tripod and used as a monopod, with a maximum length of 68.9". It weighs only 77.6 oz., can accommodate up to 44 lbs. weight capacity, and when folded for storage, measures only 17.7" long. It features a 3/8"x16 screw mount for attaching a camera head (not included). A zippered nylon carrying/storage bag with shoulder strap is also included.

    • Maximum Height: 65.4" (1660mm)
    • Minimum Height: 11.2" (285mm)

Pros: High enough for my 6'3" self.
Supports heavy equipment with the correct ball head.

    Cons: Bit heavy for transport.
Leg locks feel like they are going to be the weak link, and can require some fiddling to work correctly.

Solid tripod. Good height, relatively stiff. The twist locks feel cheap, and can be somewhat sticky.

    Good tripod with one flaw

Pros: Size, stability and price are great. Read the description, this tripod does not come with a head.

Cons: Do not trust the metal hook under tripod.
    Tripod is a little stiff

The legs, height of tripod and feet are all stable and what I have come to expect from Monoprice products. It provides a really stable platform for your camera. However the spring loaded hook under the main support column is not well designed. The first time I attached a weight (my camera bag) to add additional stability for nightime shooting it came detached dropping my camera bag (nothing was damaged). Unscrewing and seeing the design I can see why (appears to be held by a spring washer).

    Very Tall, Stable, Feels Robust!

Pros: Extends taller then anyone I know
Holds my big 70-200mm 2.8f lens just fine, even at odd angles.
Flexible, each leg and be put at any angle, locking at two points when upright.
Legs extend out quickly, unlocking with one twist.
The detachable Monopod is hardly noticeable, solid connection when tightened down.

Cons: Doesn't come with it's own head.
The Monopod can be deployed but it's not a quick change, but I guess it's not meant to be.
Came with documents to explain how to detach/setup the Monopod.

    Read Pros/Cons.

Pros: Light, great value, solid build.

    Cons: none.

Solid build and great value. No issues. I like that it you have the option of using this tripod as a monopod. Just have your own tripod head and your set. I would buy it again if i had to.
