OTG Card Reader for Android™ Smartphones (microSD / SD / USB)

Effortlessly add additional SD™, microSD™, or USB storage to your Android™ 4.0 or later phone or tablet using this OTG Card Reader from Monoprice!

OTG stands for "On The Go", which is a USB connectivity standard for Android devices. With an OTG adapter, such as this one, you can connect a variety of USB devices, such as PC keyboards, mice, flash drives, etc. This OTG adapter also includes a full-sized SD card slot and a microSD card slot, allowing you to add gigabytes of storage to your phone or tablet.

Note that only one of the two card slots can be used at any given time. While you can use the USB port for an input device, such as a keyboard, simultaneously with a storage card in one of the slots, you cannot use more than one storage device (card or USB flash) at the same time when connected to an Android device.

    Nice Reader
The best feature of this reader is that it can be plugged into the phone while the phone is still in it's case. The bonus is the multiple formats that can be used with this reader. The USB adapter is handy also.

PROS: Easy to use, works with case on.

    CONS: None

    5/5
Bought it as gift for someone who owns Samsung Note 5 who needed to add external storage. Can't beat the price not to mention excellent shipping as always!

PROS: Awesome product! Plug and play! Had minor issues figuring out how to insert the microSD but figured it out. Perhaps a simple instruction should be in the paper cover? But everything is good!

    CONS: None.

Works Great with my Moto X and Camera with RAW files
What a great product for Android users. It allows you to have a SD card appear as a drive on your phone/tablet.

You can then copy the files, backup the files, etc.

This product works on my Moto X with Android 4.4.4 no problems.

    Great solution.

PROS: This item allows me to download and backup photos from my compact camera. I'm able to copy files from an SD card and upload directly to Google Drive for backup.

Appears as a USB drive on the phone.

CONS: You do have to use the proper sequence. This may be an issue with Android not the product.

    1. Plug the SD card into the read.

    2. Then plug the reader into the phone.

One thing I wished it would allow you to charge/power the phone via the USB port.

    It Works!
This OTG (on the go) card reader works just fine. Prior to using this item, I was unable to get photos transferred from my camera's card to my android tablet using a regular cable. This card reader worked easily right from the start. Remember to "copy" your pictures to the tablet if you want to retain the photos on the SD card as well as transferring them. Note: if you want, you can also transfer photos from the tablet back to the SD card using this device. It's quite versatile.

PROS: Easy to use, compact, light weight

    CONS: None thus far

A Really Neat OTG Card Reader
This OTG adapter is new to me, so I wanted to put it through its paces. It reads both standard sized SD cards as well as micro SD cards, which are pretty much the de-facto standard today for most cellphones and tablets. Well, at least Android devices anyway. Unless you have a standard size SD card adapter that a micro SD card can be inserted into (they usually come with a micro SD card), or a micro SD card/USB reader/adapter, you will typically have to connect a “standard” (not OTG) cable between the cellphone or tablet and your PC in order to read data on a card. The reader also accepts USB flash/thumb drives as well. The reader supports SD, SDHC, SDXC, microSD, microSDHC & microSDXC cards.

This adapter will also support the use of an external keyboard or mouse as well.

With this really neat accessory, you can just insert a card or flash drive into the reader, connect it to a cellphone or tablet, use a file manager and read/write the data to/from whatever you are connected to. There’s even a micro USB connector that you can power the adapter with. I assume to power something like an external portable hard drive. I haven’t tried that yet, so I cannot confirm if it will work or not.

There is also a separate USB-A male to micro USB female adapter packaged with the card reader.

For the price and convenience of what it does, I don’t think you can really go wrong.

PROS: Reads all typically used memory cards used today, including high capacity sizes. A huge benefit.

CONS: None really other than maybe the short cable could be a little longer, or have the micro USB connector on the cable be a right angle connector which would eliminate any stress on the connector. Not enough to stop me from getting one as is though.

    pretty good
It works pretty good. I've used it with a bunch of usb stuff that should work either android and it performs well. I have an LG 7" gpad and while there is a micro usb port on the otg unit. It fails to charge my particular unit. You're results may vary, I could have received a faulty unit. Who knows? You would think that device that enables the use of external media andcontrol devices wood have been intelligently designed with the knowledge that you are taking up the only available usb port and therefore should have some means to power the device. But hey it works and allows me to plug in usb devices as well as a micro SD card for storage. I cant complain about that. I couple mine to a monoprice powered 4 port hub for extra extensibility. Just have to remember to charge up before using it everytime.

PROS: The otg stuff works very good

CONS: It doesn't have the ability to charge my tablet at the same time.
