Mini Headphone Amplifier for Guitar - "Tube Overdrive"

As a musician you know you need to practice regularly to hone your skills and learn new songs. However, you can't always break out the amps and crank up the volume. For those times when quiet is required, you can both practice and hear the amplified output from your instrument using this Mini Headphone Amplifier for Guitar from Monoprice!

This amplifier is designed to provide amplification to the output of instrument level devices, such as electric guitars and bass guitars. It features a 1/4" TS plug, which plugs directly into your instrument's output. It is powered by two AAA batteries (not included) and has a 3.5mm TRS output for listening with headphones.

An additional 3.5mm TRS auxillary input is provided for connecting another audio source, such as an mp3 player. The audio from the Aux jack is mixed with the audio from the guitar so you can play along to an existing recording.

This amplifier produces a "Tube Overdrive" sound with distortion and delay reminiscent of Classic Rock performances. The amplifier includes analog Gain, Tone, and Volume controls.

Note: The distortion effect that this amplifier produces means that there will necessarily be some background hiss/noise, even at normal volume levels. If you listen to the amplifier without it being plugged into a guitar, the noise level can be loud and pronounced. However, when it is plugged into a guitar the signal returns to a desirable noise level for playing.

    great for practice
great piece of practice equipment, in the few weeks i have had it i haven't plugged in my amp at home yet.

PROS: sound is good, function is compact and easy to use. pop a battery in and you are good to go. nice to be able to walk around and play with a distortion

CONS: control knobs are hard to read, especially when playing

    Tubey
Paired with the strat style guitars they have here, it's not bad but it's quite noisy (the cheap pickups are to blame partly). But plugged into my home stereo via a rca cable, it's better than expected- good warm tone and good harmonics. The tone dial is worthless, anything under 10 sounds like mud. Gain works well with 0 being a dirty clean and 10 being hard rock but not metal. If you're not expecting the world, you'll be more than impressed with it for $20.

PROS: Good for the money, good harmonics

    CONS: Noisy, tone is worthless

it's actually working pretty well. Been using it with some gamified guitar practice software and it picks up the signal great. It's practice-amp quality sound into headphones, as well. Only downside is that it's a little unwieldy and floppy off the end of the guitar, and you can't actually have it plugged into the guitar and still see the controls at all

Impressed, didn't know this existed, works great.
overall sounds are not bad, it mimics a tube amp pretty well, not perfect but well, some distortion when on high, but that would be normal for any tube amp right? at any rate, if you want to just play electric guitar without a real amp, this is a great way to do it.

PROS: Able to play guitar without having to use a real amp, great for late night jamming when everyone is asleep.

CONS: none that I know of,

Mini Headphone Amplifier for Guitar - "Tube Overdrive"
Mini Headphone Amplifier for Guitar - "Tube Overdrive" give's me gob's of power, more actually than I can handle. It is clear crisp and very clean in distortion mode or not. It give's me feedback like in a normal amp that I can use as effects for my music. Also it give's me the chip effect when you pick a string and barely make contact with the skin on your finger to get that totally custom harmonic. BUY THIS PRODUCT , IT REALLY IS LIKE STANDING IN FRONT OF A MARSHALL AMP AT A CONCERT.

PROS: Mini Headphone Amplifier for Guitar - "Tube Overdrive" is an all around Great Product.

A good option when you want to play without bothering others
I picked this up because I wanted something to use with an electric I got off Monoprice, and I didn't want to bother the others in the house. So far it is working great for me, and I'm glad I chose to pick one of these up

PROS: Good for when you want to play quietly

    CONS: None so far.

    Very nice
I travel quite a bit for work and tote my LP clone with me to give me something to do in the hotel room. Without an amp it just doesn't sound the same. I read the reviews so for $20 I took a chance and bought one. This little compact device was the perfect solution, easily fits in my briefcase and has more than enough volume and crunch for my taste. Nice product.

    PROS: Loud

    Inexpensive

    Sound quality

    Compact

    Awesome
I love this little thing, I have a clean and a overdrive, they are every bit as good as the ones you pay 40 or 50 dollars for. If you just need to play or practice with no one hearing you that get one of these, mine works great!!

PROS: sounds great for what it is,, loud enough for practice and hearing yourself good,, has a good range of adjustments,

CONS: sometimes makes a small hiss, just turn it down a little and it goes away..
