Xbox One® Play & Charge Kit

So you bought the new Xbox One® and were dismayed to find a pack of AA batteries for your controller. Then when you saw that the price tag for a single rechargeable battery pack was about half the cost of a new game, the AAs started to look like the better choice, right? Well, the rechargeable battery is still the better choice and getting this Xbox One Play & Charge Kit from Monoprice is the best choice yet!

This battery pack is designed specifically to fit the Xbox One controller. It features a capacity of 650mAh. which is enough for up to 6 hours of continuous gaming. Additionally, it can be used while charging, so when it gets low, just plug it in and play on!

Unlike the Playstation® 3 controllers, which can only be charged when plugged into the Playstation system, this battery pack can be charged from any USB power source that is capable of putting out at least 200mA of power, which includes almost every USB port, charger, and external battery charger ever made.

The battery pack uses a USB micro-B connector for power and comes with a 19" USB A male to USB micro-B male cable.

Note: For best results and the longest battery life, this battery should be fully charged and discharged about 3-6 times before doing a partial charge or simultaneous play/charge.

    Some reviews don't make sense
Before buying this battery pack I read every review that was posted. I am not sure if the customers with negative reviews received a different version or had non-xbox brand controllers. The battery pack I received fit perfectly, did not have any "sharp edges" or easily breakable plastic tabs, and the charge is lasting as any long as it should. 6 plus hours so far. My only negative comment is regarding the charging cable. Unless you sit right in front of the TV, it is not a charge and play. The cable doesn't really matter to me though so I still give it a 9. It was definitely worth the money to me. Hope this helps.

PROS: Works as expected. Battery pack fits perfectly. Charge lasts as stated.

    Amazing price for the quality.

CONS: The supposed "charge and play" cord is way too short.

Doesn't really matter to me though.

Xbox One Plug n Play Battery
For under $10 you cant beat it. I wanted a second battery pack that I could have charged and ready without charging through my controller. It fits the bill.

PROS: Great price and you can charge the battery without a controller

CONS: cord is a bit short for plugin play option

    Function over Form?
So I never write reviews, but I bought this just off the whim that it would exhibit the same quality I have received from the cables purchased here. However, I was disappointedly mistaken. The one major flaw I've found is the whatever was used as a mold for the plastics is just a fraction too large (unless I received a faulty model), meaning that when you actually plug the pack into the controller, it slides out, to where it feels like it might just pop out with the wrong flip of your wrist. I've gone to the extremes of taking a dremel and seeing if I could file down some of the tabs, thinking that might be the problem, but, though it was negligibly better, the pack still stood out about between a sixteenth and an eighth of an inch. I'm not exactly sure what is causing this as I can push it to where it looks like the fitment is fine, but when I release it, it just slips back out of place again.

Another issue I have been having, is that the charging cable doesn't stay connected. The female end of the micro usb port just allows the cord to fall right out if you dont either 1. hold it in with your hand or 2. charge the pack by itself out of the controller, making the "charge and play" moniker tough to justify.

Also, the charge is never showing up correctly on my Xbone, This may be because of the new firmware and the fact that the charger is aftermarket, so it isn't that big of a deal, just a quirk.

Overall, yes, I suppose I can take this thing out of my controller, charge it while I sleep or something, then haphazardly jam it as far into place as possible and try not to move my hands while I play. Therefore I cannot say that it doesn't complete its intended purpose, but from a company with such a high standard of affordable quality (IMHO), this thing does not live up to my expectations.

    PROS: Re-chargeable battery?

    CONS: Fitment
