Only thing I had an issue with was running through my Denon receiver. I have to allow the receiver to fully boot up and then turn the wii on right away or the signal is not sent or received properly. Screen says no signal. There seems to be some software that needs to run first (there is a monoprice splash screen before taking you to the wii safety message) and it may have issues running to the receiver. Works no problem when I time it right. Also works no problem when running directly to the TV, but that defeats the purpose of why I purchased this. If the timing is off, usually turning the wii and receiver off and starting the process again gets it going.
I would recommend this product. I'm very happy with the purchase, and actually started using my wii more. If they are able to address the splash screen/software startup issue with receivers, I would give it a 10.
PROS: Plug and play, scaling is very good. Supports Video and Audio through HDMI.
CONS: A little finicky when it is run through a receiver. Must allow time for receiver to boot up before turning on the wii quickly for the signal to pass successfully.
I plugged this into the back of my WII, and connected the HDMI cable to my TV. Fired it all up, pressed the button to flip to 1080p, and both audio and video were handled well. The image was stretched since my old TV wasn't widescreen, so I went into the Wii options and set the display to widescreen, and everything was done. I don't think this could be any easier to set up, and the image is nicely upscaled.
This differs from some other converters in that the others often do not include audio or do so through an 1/8" mini jack. This puts it into the HDMI cable, where it should be. I didn't notice any lag times between the video and audio, so that worked well.
It's a little on the expensive side, but well worth it to me in that I didn't have to deal with any cables other than the HDMI to get audio working.
