Bought this to run my Wii through my receiver for video and audio through HDMI instead of component. It upscales the 480p image nicely to 1080p (not full scale HD quality, but it looks like a 480p signal would on a 480p TV, just upscaled across 1080p. This is what I expected.). Colours are nice, no lag or anything.

Only thing I had an issue with was running through my Denon receiver. I have to allow the receiver to fully boot up and then turn the wii on right away or the signal is not sent or received properly. Screen says no signal. There seems to be some software that needs to run first (there is a monoprice splash screen before taking you to the wii safety message) and it may have issues running to the receiver. Works no problem when I time it right. Also works no problem when running directly to the TV, but that defeats the purpose of why I purchased this. If the timing is off, usually turning the wii and receiver off and starting the process again gets it going.

I would recommend this product. I'm very happy with the purchase, and actually started using my wii more. If they are able to address the splash screen/software startup issue with receivers, I would give it a 10.

PROS: Plug and play, scaling is very good. Supports Video and Audio through HDMI.

CONS: A little finicky when it is run through a receiver. Must allow time for receiver to boot up before turning on the wii quickly for the signal to pass successfully.

Works great, includes both 1080p video AND AUDIO
First off, there is a button on the side of this to switch between 720 and 1080. No paper clip needed to push a recessed button to flip modes.

I plugged this into the back of my WII, and connected the HDMI cable to my TV. Fired it all up, pressed the button to flip to 1080p, and both audio and video were handled well. The image was stretched since my old TV wasn't widescreen, so I went into the Wii options and set the display to widescreen, and everything was done. I don't think this could be any easier to set up, and the image is nicely upscaled.

This differs from some other converters in that the others often do not include audio or do so through an 1/8" mini jack. This puts it into the HDMI cable, where it should be. I didn't notice any lag times between the video and audio, so that worked well.

It's a little on the expensive side, but well worth it to me in that I didn't have to deal with any cables other than the HDMI to get audio working.

    PROS: * Extremely easy setup
    * Compact design
    * Includes audio signal in HDMI output

CONS: * A little big, but not bad

    Works fine through my receiver
Another reviewer mentioned having issues using this with a receiver, but I haven't had any trouble. I have a Sony STR-DH540 receiver and I am actually plugging the Wii into an HDMI switcher that is connected to the receiver and it works just as I was hoping it would. It really simplifies my setup to be able to use HDMI instead of the mess the component cables made for me, and it plays much nicer with my receiver. I have no complaints, I have to give it a 10.

    PROS: Easy to set up

    Simplifies cord mess

    Works fine through AV receiver

CONS: Don't know if the 720p/1080p button really does anything

    a little expensive

Works as advertised. Probably a little more than I would have liked to pay, but since I'm putting everything through a 5x1 HDMI switch to one TV, it's what I needed.

    Works perfectly
Prior to buying this, I bought a similar device off Amazon with the goal of simplifying my home theater set up by having everything running through HDMI to my receiver, and a single HDMI cable from my receiver to my TV. Unfortunately, the one I tried previously had a significant degradation of both audio and video quality to the point it was unacceptable. I returned it and found this one on Monoprice and decided to try it. Both the audio and video are just as good as they were running through the component cables.

Don't buy this device if you are expecting it to improve signal quality, because it won't. But if you are hoping to simplify your set up and get rid of your component cables, this is a perfect device for you.

    PROS: Works exactly as described

    CONS: None

    Wii in HD!
Finally a simple solution to get my Wii to display full screen on my 55" LEDTV. This works with no issues whatsoever and is exactly what I was looking for and at a great price.

PROS: Simple - no setup required

CONS: None at all that I can find

This is perfect. Just remember the Wii outputs at 480p and just because you convert that component/composite cable to HDMI you still will only have a 480p output. Not a 720/1080p. It does not upscale it. But it does let you use HDMI which is perfect if you are limited on inputs or just want everything as HDMI.

PROS: Simple, no setup. Lets you go from Composite/Component down to just an HDMI and Audio.

    CONS: None
