    Great replacement for CTC Printer
Easy and quick replacement for the original assembly on my CTC printer. Printer is printing better than when new.

PROS: Shipped from US, quality seems high

CONS: More expensive than whole extruder assemblies on Ebay but US shipping and having Monoprice to call if there is a problem is worth it.

    Great fit and great functionality
Used on a Wanhao Duplicator 4S - hotend seems to perform better than the original. Great price!!!

PROS: Works great, heats quickly, fits great

CONS: Not really a con - but the connectors weren't perfect for my needs. I just had to swap some wires over.

    Powerspec 3D Pro
This was an exact replacement for the Powerspec 3D Pro. The plugs are color coded, so that makes it pretty much fool proof.

    PROS: It works

    CONS: None

Excellent service and product - perfect replacement
Monoprice was very courteous when I called, all questions answered, part received quickly and it was exactly what I needed to fix my PowerSpec 3D Pro Printer. I would buy this replacement part again, and I would definitely buy it from Monoprice.

    Exact Replacement
Perfect fitment and identical in every way to the original. When you remove the original you will have to cut several zip ties that hold the various wires together. They aren't provided with the replacement so you will want to make sure you have the right size on hand _before_ attempting the swap. The factory connections are glued together so you will need to _carefully_ separate them. I used an Exacto knife to break the bond between the plugs and sockets. The plugs go to two different boards, two to one and two to the other. I didn't reapply glue but maybe I should have.

PROS: Just what the title says, the replacement part is identical to the original. Even the wire connectors are color matched with the original part.

CONS: From the factory the connectors in the printer are glued to the socket, fortunately the connectors were still easy to remove and replace.

    No zip ties included.

Converted for use with Makerbot 2X.
So I purchased this as a replacement hot end for a Makerbot 2X replicator, knowing full well that it was not designed for that. It works, and makes prints that are much higher quality than I was getting with the stock makerbot parts. However, the process to get it to work was... involved. The silver bar that holds the extruder cold ends is ALMOST the correct size to just be mounted in the Makerbot, but the holes are about 1mm off.

So, I ended up removing the heater assemblies from the Monoprice version, but upon doing so the very very small setscrews stripped, requiring me to drill them out.

After I had gotten the heater elements free, I drilled out the small holes in the Makerbot silver piece, to allow the larger monoprice versions to fit. Next was soldering the wires to the existing ones, which went smoothly.

All in all, I would consider this a viable, low cost replacement for the makerbot hot end, though it takes some technical aptitude.

PROS: Partially compatible with Makerbot 2X

CONS: Setscrews stripped upon removal. Ridiculous torque on the 1mm buried setscrews.
