Premium 3D Printer Filament PLA 3MM 1kg/spool, Bright Green

Get outstanding 3D printing results when you use 3.0mm PLA 3D Printer Filament from Monoprice!

PLA is a good choice for a printing material if you are looking for high accuracy and high resolution. It extrudes at lower temperatures, does not require a heated base, and has a very low shrinkage rate (0.3%). PLA is harder than ABS, but is therefore also a bit more brittle. Additionally, PLA is a plant-based plastic, which means that it is biodegradable and gives off a slightly sweet odor, like roasting corn.

This 1 Kg spool features a thickness of 3.0mm ±0.10mm, with a roundness variation of only 0.03mm. It has a nominal processing temperature of 185° C (365°F). Thickness and roundness factors are laser measured at the factory to ensure accuracy over the entire length of the filament.

The negatives of using PLA is that it is vulnerable to degradation from moisture, sunlight, and heat. Additionally, it is more prone to overheating during processing, which can cause dripping and drooping if it gets too hot.

    Reel Dimensions:

    • Hub Diameter: 95mm (3.74")
    • Spindle Diameter: 38mm (1.50")
    • Reel Width: 80mm (3.15")

this spool is not going to last long
bright green color prints translucent, with some of the internal layers reflecting golden colors makes for great 3d prints of decor. haven't had a jam or a failed print yet.

there are occasionally burrs and strings in the print with a Lulzbot Mini printing this PLA at 205C at Normal setting in Cura. nothing really unusual about this though.

PROS: - bright green color print translucent, with nice internal golden reflections.

    - haven't encountered any failed prints

    - great price and quick shipping.

CONS: - occasional burrs and strings from travel in print. could be temperature related haven't tried to tune anything.

    not so good
If you never let your printer cool down much, this PLA will work ok in an Airwolf printer (with optional size spool holders). Once it has a cool off cycle, it is VERY difficult to get it going again. We have other PLA that we purchased from Airwolf (at higher cost) that has no problems at all. I don't know if other printer brands would have the same problem with this filament. I am getting a replacement from Monoprice. If it works better, I will update this review.

PROS: Makes nice prints after a while. Nice bright color.

CONS: If you ever let the print nozzle on an Airwolf printer cool down with this PLA in it, it is very hard to get it flowing again. The hole in the center of the spools is smaller than the Airwolf 2 lb spools.
