Premium 3D Printer Filament PLA 3MM 1kg/spool, Blue

Get outstanding 3D printing results when you use 3.0mm PLA 3D Printer Filament from Monoprice!

PLA is a good choice for a printing material if you are looking for high accuracy and high resolution. It extrudes at lower temperatures, does not require a heated base, and has a very low shrinkage rate (0.3%). PLA is harder than ABS, but is therefore also a bit more brittle. Additionally, PLA is a plant-based plastic, which means that it is biodegradable and gives off a slightly sweet odor, like roasting corn.

This 1 Kg spool features a thickness of 3.0mm ±0.10mm, with a roundness variation of only 0.03mm. It has a nominal processing temperature of 185° C (365°F). Thickness and roundness factors are laser measured at the factory to ensure accuracy over the entire length of the filament.

The negatives of using PLA is that it is vulnerable to degradation from moisture, sunlight, and heat. Additionally, it is more prone to overheating during processing, which can cause dripping and drooping if it gets too hot.

    Good blue.

PROS: Prints very nicely on the Velleman K8200. Nice shiny, semi translucent blue. Came vacuum sealed, with desiccant inside, which keeps humidity from getting in the plastic and causing printing issues. I got some obscenely large zip loc bags at the grocery store (1 Gallon's are too small) to store the filament in after opening it.

CONS: None so far. I'm not sure what will happen at the end of the roll when the filament has a tight circumference, one reviewer mentioned having to wind it around a larger spool and heat it in the oven to relax it, which sounds like a PITA

    Setup: Ultimaker 2, 3mm, 225C

    A solid (opaque) nice blue.

CONS: I'm giving it a 9/10 because it isn't as pretty as the bright colors
