    Saved the birthday party

    Pros: It works
Just one adapter for multiple situations

Cons: None yet, see what happens when I used it in the future

I bought this so when I give presentations I have insurance that the host's projector will connect to my newer laptop. But my first use was for my next door neighbor's daughter's birthday party. They bought an older projector to play a movie projected onto a screen in their backyard, but their laptop didn't have a VGA connector like the projector did. They asked to borrow a laptop and - lo and behold, this multi adapter did the trick.

    Pros: Works, small.

Cons: Plastic doesn't look as durable as it could be

Used it to drive a 1080P TV, no issues.

Allows HDMI of 2560x1080 on Mac (with SwitchResX software). VGA mode was dark.

Pros: HDMI allows higher than 1080p resolutions (with additional software) on my mid-2011 Mac Mini. Probably works on other older Macs, too. I use this successfully at 2560x1080 at 53Hz (I cannot get it to work at the 60Hz native refresh of my monitor), but 53Hz is enough for video and work.

Cons: The VGA port has disappointing brightness and contrast. I recommend using a different adapter for VGA.

Four stars because the HDMI image is flawless, but the VGA image is not good. I recommend this for DisplayPort to HDMI (5 stars). Don't buy this for VGA (1 star). Monoprice sells an HDMI to VGA adapter that is great. If possible, get that for VGA instead.

I bought this adapter to allow my mid-2011 Mac Mini to use my new HDMI-only LG widescreen (2560x1080) display at full resolution. The HDMI port on the Mac Mini only offers 1080p (1920x1080), so the display was not using native resolution. I plugged this adapter into the DisplayPort / Lightning Port of my Mac Mini, plugged an HDMI cable between this and the LG monitor, installed SwitchResX software (downloaded from the Internet), configured SwitchResX, restarted, and problem solved. I recommend this adapter for this solution. Five stars for the HDMI port.

I also have an older VGA projector, I thought I'd get two things done with one adapter. This adapter can only connect to one destination at a time, so I unplugged my HDMI LG monitor, and plugged in my VGA projector. The screens and resolution differences switched flawlessly, but the image projected for dark areas was too dark and lacked contrast. When I turned the brightness up, the light areas were too bright and washed out. I bought an HDMI to VGA adapter and am using that instead with no image problems. Would not recommend for VGA unless image contrast and brightness is not important. One star for the VGA port.

I have not tried the DVI port.

    Image DIstorted

Pros: Can see an image on external monitor.

    Cons: The image is distorted.

I replaced an older adapter that stopped functioning. When connecting to an external monitor via this adapter the image on the screen is distorted. While other adapters from elsewhere work, all the different adapters I bought from monoprice had the same issue. Do not buy!!!

    Essential product

    Pros: Functions perfectly
    Is lightweight and compact

Cons: Build quality is not outstanding the plastic is shiny and doesn't seem terribly durable. I would pay more for one that had a thicker, more durable plastic case.

This is an essential product for one who travels with a newer laptop that has limited display output, other than mini DisplayPort. My laptop has DisplayPort and mini DisplayPort only with this small adaptor, I've now got VGA, DVI, and HDMI as well.

The highest resolution I've tested on this is 2560x1440 over the HDMI connection.
