DB9, M/F, Null Modem Mini Type

RS-232, DB 9 pin male to female null modem.

Null modems are used to connect two computers or other devices together to achieve file transfer. Null modem connectors are different from straight through connectors because the receive and transmit conductors are crossed.

This is a miniature null modem with a male connector on one side and a female on the other.

If you can make do with 9 pins for serial instead of the full 25 pins, why use a bulky 25 pin null modem adapter? This low profile and small DB9 null modem does the trick.

PROS: Does exactly what the product description says

    CONS: None, nada, zip

    Excellent Adapter!
I sell connectivity kits for the vintage Apple II family of computers to connect Apple II computers to PCs and Macs, By bundling this connector with a standard serial cable, the customer gets multiple usage from the kit. They don't need to have one serial cable and one null-modem cable, thus reducing cable clutter. Customers prefer this thin adapter over the bulkier, larger adapters.

PROS: Thin profile means less protrusion from the socket & therefore less chance for accidental bumping/damage

Less bulkier than other null-modem adapters (reduces shipping costs)

    Worked Great
A great adapter when you're not sure if server equipment is expecting a standard or null-modem serial cable. Solid construction and worked fine for me. The provided screws were easily removed which allowed me to connect it to the cable I had.

    PROS: Small, simple, solid construction.

    CONS: None.

Our Techs use these a lot in the field and they are very happy with the gender changers.

    Tiny cable converter
This simple and small device reverses the necessary pins to convert DB9 into a null modem cable. Does the job as expected and required.

    PROS: Small and solid construction

    One Trick Pony
If the one trick the pony knows is talking, then it's a pretty good one trick. Thats how I see this DB9 adapter. Doesn't do a wide variety of things, but the one it does, it does it well. I had bought some serial cables instead of ordering the null modem cables like I knew I should. These little connectors come to the rescue. They work as intended and a well built. Ya gotta have on of these in your toolkit...

    I would/will purchase these again.

PROS: Well built, very cost effective, and does what it says it will do....
