1 PAIR OF High-Quality Gold Plated Speaker Pin Plugs, Pin Crimp Type

Pin plugs make speaker installation a breeze. They are designed for use with amplifiers or speakers fitted with either traditional binding posts or spring clip connectors. Not only is it easier to make the connection on the back of your amp, it is safer, with no chance of stray wire strands creating a short across contacts.

These high quality plugs are the screw lock type and can accept bare wire only. They are sized to fit speaker wire from 12 to 18 AWG. Each pair comes with one plug color coded red and the other coded black, for easy polarity identification.

The plug body is made of brass, which is then plated with gold to help prevent corrosion and ensure smooth connections.

    • Can accept bare wire only
    • Can accept 12 to 18 AWG speaker wires
    • Grooved pins prevent slippage
    • Color coded black/red rings for maintaining proper polarity
    • Secure, positive contact with binding posts
    • Corrosion resistant, 24K gold plated brass plug
    • Each order includes ONE pair (2 plugs total)

    Don't fit

    Pros: gold plated?

    Cons: Not banana plugs
    Don't fit anything

I have been wiring up or plugging in speakers for over 30 years. I have used many banana plugs in electronics labs and consumer and professional audio equipment. These are not banana plugs as defined in US or Canada. I have a Polk, Bose, and Mackie speakers, and these connectors do not work. I have 3 amplfiers and they don't work on those either. Now I have a bunch of connectors to return to monoprice. A REAL BANANA plug is shown in the 1 min video below.

    Hi Rob,

That is correct that these are not banana plugs. As indicated by the product name, they are pin crimp type speaker pin plugs. The correct banana plugs would be PID 2943 if you're looking for open screw type:
Or if you're looking for closed screw type:

If you would like, I can assist you with setting up an RMA for a return on the PID 5973 speaker pin plugs. Please let me know if you would like to continue with the RMA. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in the matter.

    not as snug

    Pros: it works

Cons: need a screwdriver to open and seal the wire into place

it might not be a snug fit. you probably have to add a cm so that the screw-in pin that holds the wire into place creates contact or i dont know that you can call it "snug", as there seems to be spacing between the inside core. i haven't tried pulling the wire or anything, but unless you screwed it back more tight than one would expect, it's possible it can wiggle out/not create the best contact.
