Excellent solution for Mac - with the appropriate drivers
I've purchased about 50 of these things primarily for use with late model MacBook Airs. After a few weeks now, they have all been functioning perfectly with not a single issue. They ARE NOT plug and play for any Mac ~10.9 as Apple did pull built in support for non-Apple branded USB ethernet adapters around then. A quick Google search for: "AX88179 Drivers Download" will get you what's needed.

    Monoprice comes through again!

PROS: Inexpensive, USB 3 with Gig ethernet - what's not to love?

CONS: Smallish con, but certainly not the fault of manufacturer or Monoprice is the need for 3rd party drivers. It would be nice if there were a link on the product page and an explanation these WILL work with 10.9+ if the proper driver is used.

    No problems, so far.
Works as advertised. It would be better if it had several more USB connections.

    Works Great with Windoes 10
Was delivered right on time. Added the software as instructed. Plugged into my new HP 15 Pavilion Laptop SS (3.0) USB plug. Plugged my Docking Station into one of the 3 additional 3.0 plugs in the MonoPrice adapter although the docking station is only a 2.0 USB. Works as advertised. I have Time Warner Cable 300 Mbps if plugged into the Ethernet. I got 351 Mbps Download on Ookla Speedtest and almost 24 Mbps Upload. Without the adapter I was getting 38 Mbps Download and 20 Mbps Upload.. Surprisingly my brand new HP 15 Laptop with Dual Band AC for Wireless does not have a GB Ethernet Card but only the "Fast" 100 Mbps card. I am surprised they would not put GB Cards in all new computers.

PROS: Works as advertised. Easy to install-I have an Optical Disk Drive for the software. Size and weight appropriate. Great to have the 3 additional 3.0 USB ports.

CONS: Might be more difficult if you do not have access to a Disk Drive. Maybe you can download the Drivers online.

    Pleasant Surprise finding this!
Ordered new Desktop computer, basic for tracking check book, pictures. No ethernet connection, so I tried out the Wifi which worked great for a week, then saw it would drop the connection. I had ordered this item, so when I lost my connection longer than for a few seconds, I plugged this gem in and WOW, works like a charm!
Now I don't have to worry if it is my Wifi or just losing contact with the company!

PROS: Nothing bad to say, works great!!

    Great Hub / Ethernet Combo
This product works great. I am happy to now have more USB 3.0 ports and Ethernet on my rMBP 13. All the ports work, and ethernet works at 1Gbps. Does require drivers found on cd to work with Mac, so make sure you have another computer around that can use to pull the drivers off the cd from.

PROS: Works as intended (tested on Mac OSX 10.10 and Windows 7 Pro).

USB 3.0 ports offer faster speeds over USB 2.0

Ethernet works well with OSX and Windows

CONS: Drivers are only provided on CD, which can be a problem for some Mac's as they don't natively come with dvd drives anymore. Providing a driver database would be very useful for customers.

    -does require drivers to work

Overall a good solid solution that works well. I am receiving expected speeds, and it was plug and play with my PC running Windows 8.1.

PROS: USB 3.0 ports, works as expected

    CONS: Bulky

    found drivers, now works great
revising earlier review... This works like it's supposed to on OSX 10.10.2 once the driver is installed. During installation it updated itself to fit my system. Thankfully someone posted a link to the driver here in the reviews, because there was no indication in the product description how to find it, nor in the packaging (which was just a plastic bag, no documentation). I doubt I'd have found the driver otherwise. Glad to have it working now.

    PROS: lightweight, adds ports

CONS: driver not included, could only find it by searching reviews

    As advertised
Works as expected. Makes it possible to connect the Surface Pro to a wired port. It did take a few tries to get it to install correctly.

Excellent complement to Macbook Pro with no ethernet port
I have a new Macbook Pro running OS X (10.10.4 Yosemite), which does not have a native ethernet port. Sometimes I want the security and speeds that can only be had over ethernet, so I purchased a similar 3 port USB/ethernet adapter on Amazon but it turned out to be unreliable on my Macbook Pro. So I returned it. When I realized that Monoprice had this 3 port USB/ethernet adapter, it was a no-brainer for me! Of course I read through the ratings, where I discovered that in order for this thing to work perfectly, you MUST download and install drivers. I thought it was very generous of some reviewers here to post the link for the drivers in their reviews, so I will do the same. you can download the Mac driver here:

    http://www.asix.com.tw/download.php?sub=driverdetail&PItemID=131

I purchased it and got the quick, reliable delivery that I've grown accustomed to from Monoprice. I ripped the package open, plugged it in, downloaded and installed the driver - all within 5 minutes! It worked beautifully! I decided to use it every day for a few weeks before posting my review. The results are - This thing is SOLID AS A ROCK! ...with one caveat. Please read on.

Now, I knew prior to purchasing this that it was not likely going to be able to power all of my external USB devices sufficiently. But I went ahead and ordered it anyway because in the product description is says "optional AC adapter (not included)". Great! I figured if I wanted the AC adapter down the line, I could just get it at Monoprice. I have a Windows 10 VM on an external SSD and a very power hungry portable HDD and found right away that I absolutely needed the AC adapter if I wanted to use those drives on this hub. I searched Monoprice's website and couldn't find one. So I called customer support and was informed that they don't sell the optional adapter nor do they know where I can get it. All they could tell me was the power specifications for the adapter, which is 5V 2.5A. I was a little disappointed, but went ahead and did an Amazon search for "5V 2.5A adapter". A few options came up and I just selected one and ordered it. When I got it, it turned out that the barrel of the tip was too big to fit in the hub. So I explained the situation to the seller and sent them a photo of the hub's port. They were awesome and sent me a short converter cable that plugs into the AC adapter and the other end plugs perfectly into the USB/ethernet hub! All my external USB devices now work great in the hub and all ended very, very well!

Because of my situation, the seller went ahead and created a listing on Amazon for the adapter that works perfectly for this hub. Just go on to Amazon and do a search for "Charger Adapter Cord for Monoprice Ethernet / USB". Not sure why it does not come up first when you do that search, but it does come up 3rd or 4th. I really hope this helps the many who need the power supply for this very awesome USB 3 port gigabit ethernet hub!

The bottom line: This is a great combination USB 3.0/Ethernet hub. Very nice modern look and high quality build. Works flawlessly on a Mac - all at a great low price! I wholeheartedly recommend this product!

    PROS: - Gigabit ethernet speeds

    - USB 3.0

    - Works perfectly on Mac (after downloading and installing drivers)

    - Quality build, look and feel

    - Great low price

CONS: - Optional power supply not available at Monoprice & was a hassle to find (see my review for solution)

    - Mac driver required but not included and no mention of where to get it (see my review for solution)

    Good
Once I was able to get to an optical drive and get he drivers to my laptop and installed works great. Any one that needs drivers for this product should be able to download the drivers for it without having to hunt down an optical drive to get the drivers from a disk. I think i will find a place in the cloud to host these for every one that wants to find them. Since Monoprice tech support does not have a copy of the drivers to hand out either.

PROS: Works great once the drivers are install

CONS: Drivers on physical media, didnt have a optical drive when i needed to install the drivers.
