    Access™ Series 14AWG CL2 Rated 4-Conductor Speaker Wire, 100ft

Get the most out of your home audio system with high quality, oxygen-free, pure bare copper speaker wire from Monoprice!

This speaker wire features four conductors made of high purity (greater than 99.95% pure), oxygen-free bare copper. Pure Bare Copper is a superior conductor to the copper clad aluminum (CCA) conductors used in most other inexpensive speaker wire. CCA is only about 68% as conductive as pure bare copper. This additional resistance is added to the impedance of your speakers and can negatively effect the sound.

For the wire to have no audible effect, the total wire resistance should be no more than 5% of the lowest impedance of your speakers. Even speakers rated for a nominal 8-ohms, may dip to as low as 4-ohms at some frequencies, which further reduces the total cable resistance allowed in the wire. Using Pure Bare Copper speaker wire ensures that the total load put on the amplifier remains as close as possible to the impedance curve of your speakers.

For example, a 16AWG 2-conductor Pure Bare Copper speaker wire has a total resistance of 0.803 ohms per 100 feet (both directions must be considered). By comparison, a 16AWG 2-conductor CCA speaker wire has a total resistance of 1.181 ohms per 100 feet. Assuming 4 ohms is the lowest impedance of your speakers, a speaker wire run can be no more 0.2-ohms total. 20 feet of 16AWG Pure Bare Copper would be 0.1606 ohms, well under the 0.2-ohm limit. On the other hand, 20 feet of 16AWG CCA would be 0.2362 ohms, well OVER the 0.2-ohm limit.

Each conductor is jacketed with color-coded PVC for easy polarity identification. The entire cable assembly is jacketed in a white, CL2-rated PVC material. The CL2 rating indicates that the cable complies with fire safety and insurance requirements, making it safe for use inside the walls of residential class buildings.

    Completely Satisfied
This cable is excellent and is performing well in an in-wall stereo installation. Works well with monoprice banana plugs too.

What It, Got It, Get It.
I got this 4 conductor wire so I could double-up on the speaker connections. I use to think that just any old two wires were good enough for speaker connections. But then I used the dreaded Google search and opened Pandora's box. Who knew that there was an entire science (or maybe it's a cult) devoted to all things involving speaker wires.

Long story short, I found some advice on internet and decided that double 14 AWG connections was good enough for me. So here I am writing about it. Good luck with your project.

    Excellent wire
Excellent wire for a great price. Can't imagine any better cable. 4 conductor is fantastic for installing volume controller box.

    Great for bi-wiring
You can buy a 10 ft Monster bi-wire cable for $85 (which I did in the past, and you'll need 2 for a pair of speakers) , or you can buy this 100 ft cable with Monoprice banana plugs for a fraction of the price. It took less than 30 minutes to prepare the cable to bi-wire my stereo system, a Denon AVR-2805 receiver and a pair of B&W 802-S3 speakers + B&W ASW650 subwoofer (also connected with Monoprice coax cable). I will never buy a pre-made cable again.

    100ft 14AWG CL2 Rated 4-Conductor Loud Speaker Cable
Got this to run for my bedroom speakers. By-wired the surrounds. This is great cable and highly recommended not only for the price but the quality of the cable. Don't hesitate to get this speaker cable. Monoprice rocks

PROS: I bought this to run wire for my speakers in the bedroom. This is great speaker wire. I have used this and the 12AWG before. Very good quality cable. Highly recommended

Like the other reviews state, speaker wire is flexible, yet strong. I ran about 30 feet and have no distortion/interferance. A note to the prior review, the insulation is easy to strip because there is a small string bundled in the 4 wires that you pull the string back as far as you need to strip the outter sheething off. Pretty handy, especially for the price!
