3ft 18AWG CL2 Premium 3-RCA Component Video Coaxial Cable (RG-6/U) - Black
Component video, also known as YPbPr, produces the highest quality analog video. This cable includes conductors for each of the three component video channels (Red, Green, Blue) and is ideal for connecting the analog video output of DVD players and VCRs to the corresponding inputs on your TV.
This video conductors in this cable are made from RG-6 coaxial cable, with 18AWG cores and shielding to prevent EMI and RFI interference from disturbing your video signal. The connectors are gold plated to ensure smooth, corrosion-free connections. The connector housings have color-coded, knurled rubber rings for easy identification and a perfect grip when installing or removing the cable.
This cable is CL2 rated, indicating that it conforms with fire safety and insurance requirements, making it safe for use through or within the walls of residential class buildings.
- Color Coded: Green, Red and Blue
- Triple heavy-duty super shielded RG-6/U coaxial cables to maximum signal transfer and minimize interference.
- Gold plated RCA plugs to improve conductivity.
- Color coded and labeled for the luminance (Y) and chrominance (Pr, Pb) Signals.
- Solid center conductor: 18 AWG (1*1.02) Super shielding: 120 % aluminum foil + 9*16/0.12 Braid
- Fully molded construction. Excellent quality.
For a 3ft. component video cable, RG6 wire is total overkill.
RG6 cable is much heavier gauge than RG59. It is good for very long cable runs where signal loss may be an issue. My original thinking in purchasing the RG6 component video cables rather than the RG59 cables was that 'thicker is better'. In reality for a 3ft. cable the thickness of the cable causes more problems than any advantages it might provide.
Due to the stiffness of the individual cables, fact that there are 3 of them connected together, and the short 3ft. length, the cable will not stay plugged into the TV and DVD player. Due to the weight and stiffness, the cable pulls itself out and has to be reconnected on a regular basis.
If the connectors on the cable were made to grip stronger, they would be too hard to press on and would run the risk of damaging the connectors on whatever component they were connected to.
I gave this cable a good rating because the build quality and raw materials used are all very good. This would be a great cable for long distance runs over 25ft ***IF THE INSTALL DOESN'T REQUIRE ANY SHARP TURNS***.
If you need a component video cable to connect a DVD player that will be located less than 25ft away from your TV, buy MonoPrice's RG59 version. Over short lengths, there will be absolutely no difference in picture quality.
If you've ordered this cable before reading this review, I would suggest pulling the three individual wires apart, as that helps somewhat.

Love Monoprice.com - top notch quality .. for peanuts. Youll wonder how they can afford to sell this stuff so low. Or.. it makes you wonder why other companies charge so much.
You wont regret buying this
I have bought several cables from MonoPrice. Never been disappointed.
However, the price is amazing compared to retailers like Best Buy and 6th Ave.
MonoPrice.com is my destination for cables from now on.
