Avoid having excess Ethernet cable lying around by building your own cables to the exact length needed using this Bulk Ethernet Copper Cable from Monoprice!

    • Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Category 6 Ethernet cable

    • CMP (Plenum) fire safety rating
    • 550MHz bandwidth

    The Good Stuff

Well made plenum rated cable. Slightly better that it's 23 gauge vs. 24 for POE applications. I bought 5,000' of this and wired-up 4,966'. I like that the cable has the length marked on it in 2' declining increments. I have not connected it yet so I can't comment on speed. However, there is an"x" insulator separating all four pairs and the pairs are tightly twisted (as should be for CAT6). There is also a pull line for stripping back the outer jacket.
The dark colored cable will show a deformation mark where a loop has been pulled down on itself tightly. It happens. Plenum rated cable is cannot be super flexible. The mark is a whitish spot on the jacket and a bump shape at this pinch point. The twisted pairs are slightly spread open here. It helps if you massage the cable back to a smooth shape.
This cable is excellent. The negatives I mentioned are just to make you aware of what to expect with any plenum rated CAT6 cable.

    Cat 6 550 MHz cable

    Pros: Coloring was above expectations.

Cable is as described. It is clearly marked on the section we tested. Coloration was vibrant and not difficult to discern. Will purchase again.

    Very Pleased

Pros: Thick, high quality jacket material
    Zero transmission issues

We recently purchased a box of this to run additional lines for new workstations at our business. The cable was easy to work with and even with a few accidetal kinks in some of the runs there were no conectivity issues. The cable seems to be very high quality. We will buy this again.

    Good cable

Pros: Has plastic x piece in the center to keep the pairs separated.

Cons: Color coding on white pairs is a little faint. In bad lighting you could easily confuse the white wires if you don't keep them sorted well after untwisting.

Great wire for the money. We did a 250' run. No signal problems. Tested good with Fluke gigabit cable qualifier. I'd definitely buy again.

    Worst Cat 6 Ever

    Pros: Good Price for Plenum

Cons: The cable does not have a plastic spleen core.
    The cable kinks very easy
The overall wire is thin, but the individual wires are thicker than normal
    The jacket rips and tears.

It is harder than it should be to cleanly strip the jacket. Look at Monoprice's picture for a good example of a good strip. You can also see how thin the jacket is.
Dressing this cable is almost impossible, it kinks and turns bad.

I purchased 12 boxes, and started in on a small job. I hated the cable then. Now I am finishing off the boxes and remembering how bad this cable is.

    Not worth the money saved.

This is the worst purchase of more than $10,000 I have spent on Monoprice.com.

The installation was harder than it should be, but once installed, the cable is works 100%.

There are no unused boxes to return, we only have partially used boxes left.
