19inch eSATAp to SATA 22pin Cable - Black

Do you want a simple, easy-to-connect, temporary external drive solution for your eSATAp equipped desktop or laptop PC to a internal SATA drive? This is the cable to get!

This cable has an eSATAp (powered, external SATA) connector on one end and a standard SATA internal drive connector (with power) on the other end. You can easily connect any internal SATA drive to your PC's internal SATA bus from outside your PC by using this cable and your eSATAp port. Your PC will see the drive the same as if it was installed into your PC, without requiring any software installation.

This cable will support 2.5" SATA HDDs on any system equipped with an eSATAp port. It will also support 3.5" SATA HDDs and 5.25" optical drives on a desktop system equipped with a 12V eSATAp port.

Although this isn't ideal as a long-term solution, because of the exposed drive circuits, it is an excellent way to quickly transfer data to or from an internal drive without going through the hassle of installing it into a PC or an external enclosure at a lower cost than a SATA docking station.

Warning! Because the drive is not enclosed, the circuit board is exposed and can be easily shorted out if you allow it to come into contact with a conducting surface or object. DO NOT place the drive on a metal surface or allow metal objects (such as screws) to come into contact with the circuit board. It is best to place the drive circuit board side down on top of a nonconducting surface. The box for this converter cable serves as an excellent surface on which to place the drive.

At first I used this to clone my Lenovo's HDD to a new SSD. SSD was connected with this cable to my laptop's "eSATA + USB" port, which provided power and data. No problems at all, just plug it in. also used on another Lenovo and a Toshiba for the same purpose, no problems with those.

Used it once for a different purpose: my friend's Macbook Pro was having problems so I needed to get some files off her hard drive. I attached her HDD to my laptop with the cable and used a program to read the files (I'm on Windows so I had to use a program to read Mac OS X format). no problems with that either!

very satisfied. make sure your eSATA port provides power. search for "esatap" on google for some useful information about that.

PROS: easy to use, works flawlessly

    CONS: none

    Ridiculously Easy!
Had to replace a small hard drive and I did not have Windows disks - researched and determined that I needed to 'clone' my old hard drive, with Win 7 intact - wasn't sure this was without problems, so I got this tool with some trepidation - but it turned out so easy it was laughable. Got a new WD hd and used the free Acronis software that WD provides - Not a thing to worry about.

    PROS: Simple to use

    Inexpensive

    Will probably use again

CONS: ??? Let me think about it for awhile

Good Build, Awesome Price, Incredible Product
I bought the same cable before it was being offered by Monoprice from a different website for almost 20 dollars. Although the build quality of the product was really good - but at the price it was being offered at Monoprice it reallys doesn't matter but still the quality of this cable is good.
If you have a powered eSata Port on you PC/Laptop - this cable just makes so much sense. I use it mostly to do weekly copy of my 2.5 HDD to an identical 2.5 HDD using the eSataP cable. The speed at which the eSataP connection works is incredible. You can almost try out any new OS without even opening a screw on your machine. Just use this cable attach to an 2.5 HDD and boot from this drive. You will barely notice the difference in boot times.

Anyway, I highly recommend anyone looking to buying this product. It's a must have accessory.

PROS: Affordable, Durable and Works Just Incredibly well

    Excellent for quick backups w/ThinkPads
Have used a number of these cables with various W520 and W510 ThinkPads that have the matching eSATAp combo port. Makes it easy to plug in a un-enclosed hard drive for fast backups or to clone a hard drive. Have even used with a SSD. Under Win7 you can hot swap drives provided you remember to use the system tray icon to dismount the drive and don't just unplug them (better for your filesystem too). Was going to buy USB 3.0 enclosures for the same purposes/speeds but this is simpler to use and likely a lot faster. Another great and cheap Monoprice product!

PROS: - Easy way to connect to raw hard drives on the road
    - Compact and light - easy to carry on the road
    - Connects securely, no danger of accidental disconnects
    - Fast file copying and disk cloning via eSATA
    - No need for an external power adapter or multiple USB ports for 2.5" drives

CONS: - Wish there was a choice of cable lengths
    - Would like to have a way to connect power for a 3.5" drive but not if it made these larger

Great way to add hard drives.
With the passage of time, I have been accumulating more and more media for my home theater PC. I needed a way to add hard drives to the computer, but I had no more internal hard drives bays available. I did have 2 extra 1TB hard drives that I was not using, so I put them in inexpensive cases ($10 each) and I bought a Koutech PESU220 Power-Over-eSATA PCIe card for the computer. But I still needed a way to connect the PCIe card to the hard drives. These cables did the trick. Monoprice was the only vendor I could find that sold them. The cables work great. They allow the hard drives to function just as well as if they were connected to internal SATA ports. I got the system working just in time to record the entire Sochi Olympics!

PROS: Work perfectly. Powers 3.5" hard drives without problems. Fast data transfer.
