6inch SATA 15pin Female to Molex 4pin Male Power Adapter

Got a new SATA drive that you need to connect to a system with an older power supply?  Here's a solution.
This is an adapter is for connecting internal storage devices that require 15 pin SATA power connectors to Power supplies that only have 4 pin molex  power connectors.  i.e. YOUR DRIVE IS A NEWER SATA, BUT YOUR COMPUTER IS AN OLDER ONE WITH MOLEX.
Warning:  Molex connector provide 12V and 5V power lines, but not 3.3V required by some SATA drives.  Make sure your drive does not require a 3.3V power connection before purchasing this adapter.

    Simple and effective
Great way to extend the life of your computer's case/power supply, by allowing you to use SATA hard drives with an IDE power supply. For some reason my computer has only one SATA power cables (and four IDE) and four SATA connections. This was just what I needed and it was the usual great price.

    PROS: Works
    Cheap

    CONS: None

It's a simple adapter with an appropriate price. But in my experience, it's not meant for frequent reconnections because the pins of the Molex end tend to move within the plug, making it difficult to connect without maneuvering the wires slightly. For my use, this is a non-issue, but should be noted for those expecting silk-smooth connections.

    PROS: It works. It's cheap.

    CONS: Minor pin alignment frustration.

    Good, inexpensive
These work great as intended, no issues. If you need two SATA power connectors, Monoprice item 2195 is the best general fit, and item 5185 works well if you need the 90-degree connectors with the powercables coming up from the drive.

    Cheap and works
If you've got a SATA drive that you want to power with a power supply that doesn't have SATA power connectors, this product is for you. Just beware that in the future SATA drives will supposedly require 3.3v and this adapter will not supply that. Just read the power requirements listed on the drive. If it lists 3.3v, I wouldn't use this type of adapter. It might work but it's surely not a good idea.
