    2x2 Matrix HDMI® Switch & Splitter

Switch, split, and amplify your HDMI® signal with this Monoprice Switch/Splitter!

This Matrix has two HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs, so you can switch between two input source devices and send the signal simultaneously to two displays. No setup or special configuration is required, simply connect the input device(s) and output device(s), then start using it!

The unit also has a built in, automatically adjusting amplifier. This means that you can use longer than normal HDMI cables running to the inputs. The built-in amplifier will then regenerate the HDMI signal before sending it to the outputs. This lets you extend your HDMI beyond the normal range (25 feet) for High Speed (1080p) signals.

The unit supports up to 1080p resolution, 12-bit per channel color depth, and high definition audio signals, such as DTS® Digital, Dolby® Digital, DTS-HD Master Audio™, and Dolby TrueHD™, as well as standard LPCM stereo.

Note that you don't have to have two inputs and two outputs to use this device. You can use just the switching function if you only have one display or just the splitter function if you have only one input.

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends the use of minimum 24 AWG HDMI cables when connecting a device, such as this switch/splitter, between the source and destination devices to ensure minimal signal loss and maximum High Speed signal reliability.

    Works Perfectly.

    Pros: Cheap Price
    Solid Build Quality
    Small Footprint
    Works Perfectly

Cons: None so far. I will update if it seems to die quickly or something.
Just make sure you know the difference between a Matrix and a Switch/Splitter.

I bought 1 of this unit first to test, since I had a bad experience with another ~$35 2x2 switch/splitter, and was very pleased with the unit. I bought 2 more for my needs, so 3 in total. I've been using them for about 2 weeks now.

I use these for a church worship projection environment where we have 3 display outputs: Main, Projector, and a Stage Display. Both the projector display output and the stage display output are split into monitors at the production desk for easy control in the back. Not only that, our facility is lent out to other Christian organization that also uses similar software, but require that they use their own laptop for it, thus needing the switch function.

The unit does not impede the picture quality in any way, and even has no problem sending signal through a 75ft run that we have to the projector (we use a passive HDMI to Cat5e adapter).

The power adapters for the unit extrude perpendicular to the two pins, and thus does not interfere with the socket below. The 3 adapters for mine fit nicely side by side on a power strip.

Solid build quality, and the LEDs are not blinding like some other small devices. They are red, in case that matters for anyone.

Does what it should - One nice "Hidden feature"

Pros: Simple, works as it should.

    Cons: None

I didn't see this mentioned, but the switch defaults to input one if there's no signal on input 2. This makes operation simple - I have an always-on computer hooked to 1, and a DVD player hooked to 2. if I turn on the DVD player, it switches to 2, and when I turn the DVD player off, it automatically switches back to 1. i never actually use the switch.

Installed in my customers motor home that had Directv and a Blu-ray player plus two TVs. Worked perfectly and was easy for customer to learn usage.

Pros: Good splitter/amp. Works as described

Cons: Does not do matrix switching.

Despite the title stating this is a matrix switch, it only offers duplication and switching of a single input at a time. Does not do crossover as a matrix switch should.

Many other reviews re-iterate this, dating back to 2012. The misleading title still hasn't been fixed. Can't return due to shipping (Aus), should have read the reviews more carefully. Disappointed Monoprice.

    Mostly Good

Pros: Makes a good amplifier. I have a long run from my receiver to my projector, and was using the Redmere cables. It would work, except that about 10-15 minutes in, the signal would "blip," sometimes dropping entirely. Restarting the receiver would bring it back, but it was annoying. With this receiver in-line, I can use my Monoprice 23 AWG flat cables (which I love, by the way) for the run. I no longer have the problem with the signal dropping.

Cons: When the power goes out, the splitter goes out. I spent about 10-15 minutes trying to figure out why I got no video, when all systems appeared to be go. Then I remembered this... Another issue, which has more to do with the inherent stupidity of the HDMI spec than their product, is that it "thunks" the HDMI signal down to the lowest common denominator. I have a 3-D capable, stereo sound, projector. I have a 2-D, DTS-capable receiver. When using this as a splitter, the receiver gets stereo sound, and the projector gets 2-D video. Why? Because the "proper" implementation of the HDMI spec is to only provide the signal that all devices can handle - the lowest common denominator signal. In this case, that means stereo sound and 2-D video. It would be wonderful to get a splitter that provided the proper signal to each device, and reported the highest common denominator signal (the BEST that all devices can do) to the source.

See Pros and Cons. Summary: Good amp, doesn't automatically come on, follows HDMI spec.
