5x1 Enhanced HDMI® Switch with Built-In Equalizer & Remote Control

Enjoy the easy switching life with the Monoprice 5x1 Enhanced HDMI® Switch!

This switch allows you to connect five HDMI inputs and direct them to a single HDMI output. It fully conforms to the the HDCP standard and includes support for all 3D formats.

Four of the inputs are in the traditional location on the back, while the fifth is on the front panel. This allows you to easily make temporary connections, such as from a phone or tablet, without having to reach behind and locate the plug by feel.

The switch includes a remote control, with an on/off button, five direct access buttons, and a pair of directional buttons to cycle between available inputs. Whenever a device is turned off, the unit automatically switches to the next device in the chain, the same as if you had pressed the "next" button on the remote or pressed the "Touch switch" on the front panel.

The switch also incorporates an amplifier, which automatically regenerates the HDMI signal to full strength, allowing you to use longer-than-normal HDMI cables from the input devices. An external 5VDC power supply is required and supplied with the unit.

Note: Monoprice strongly recommends the use of minimum 24 AWG HDMI cables when connecting a device, such as this switch, between the source and destination devices to ensure minimal signal loss and maximum High Speed signal reliability.

    works great
I purchased a TV with only 2 HDMI inputs, and ended up with a Blu Ray, an Xbox, a streamer (redundant with the Xbox) and my cable box, and wanted a remote HDMI switch box. Thought I'd end up paying $60 or more on one that did what I wanted and found this one.

    Works perfectly.

PROS: very easy setup, remote is easy to use

CONS: LED's are insanely bright. I ended up using transparent red tape to dim them.

PROS: very good. Chromecast can use it.

CONS: None. Maybe the blue led too bright

Works like a charm, smart switching feature is surprisingly good, LEDs are blindingly bright.

PROS: - Smart Switching feature is really nice I like it more than I thought I'd like it.

CONS: - Front LEDs are a tad bright (-1)

    Adequate features and GREAT pricing!
Nice and easy to use platform right out of the box. Port 1 is in the front for ease of access which is nice if you have something that you quickly want to connect and disconnect. The front L.E.D's are nice and bright so you can easily tell when you have switched ports. Some were complaining of the brightness. I don't find it terribly distracting as my HDTV 1080P Plasma is mounted high on the wall and somewhat to the left of my components. This brightness is probably attributed to the 4v required to illuminate a blue L.E.D. as opposed to the normal 2V so they tend to have a higher wattage output than another color would have normally. I catch it in my peripheral vision. Blue is more soothing than a red, wouldn't you agree? ) The unit amplifies low signals from my downstairs located 400 DVD units. My older universal remote did not have the preset option available for the remote control. This is minor as it is a learning remote and I was able to take another remote setting and reassign the keys to my liking. The touch sensing front panel switch is a neat feature as opposed to using a micro switch like I have on my other 2 hdmi switches now. It is a self searching 5 port unit which allows a single unit self switching option so you don't have to change it. I made some labels so I won't forget which ports are accessed by my components. I like that you can turn the power off to the unit if you are not using it. This is an upgrade to my existing switch that has a burned out port and bad power supply now. It was also self searching, but when the power supply went out of it that feature no longer worked. So this new unit is a nice upgrade to my home theater. I only needed the switch because there are not enough ports available on my home theater receiver. Seems to work fine with my PS3, up converting DVD changers, and my blu-ray player. Nice product and only had to pay $35 including shipping. Best Buy has something comparable for $200. Only had it 2 days. Let's hope for the best. I do not have any 3D components so I cannot comment on that feature. On a last note, the AC power cord is a little shorter than my last switch so I had to move the location of the switch from where I had my original one.

PROS: Easy to use right out of the box. 1 port is right in the front of the box for ease of access. compact design. touch sensing button instead of micro switch to change ports on front of switch. amplifies low signals from longer cables. supports 1080P and 1.3 for 3D. 5x1 ports, YAY and bravo!

CONS: Not a full sized remote. Credit card style remote. This is really a minor issue. AC power cable is a little short. This is also a very minor issue.

compact switch that I have so I only put one cable to projector on ceiling (have conduit). I run cable to one connection and blue Ray to the another. Has worked very well, probably didn't need as many connections as it has but it has a simple remote that has worked very well. I'd recommend this.

    PROS: compact

    CONS: none

    5x1 Enhanced HDMI switch
I would suggest this to others. It is one of the simplest solutions I have found.

    PROS: It works as advertised

    Easy to use and setup

CONS: Yes it has a bright blue LED. It will light up your room at night. I lay the remote in front of it. Problem solved.

    Nice little switcher
My TV is 25 feet from my A/V cabinet, so I need one HDMI cable that reaches far across the room. I have 2 or 3 video sources I want to keep in one spot, and a minimal amount of work to switch between them. This box works great for that.

The only source I can not get to go through this switcher is the 1/8" audio jack from my phone. For that (or bluetooth) I have to get out the soundbar remote and switch audio sources. Otherwise, as long as we have the TV on the correct source, we can have Live TV, DVD/Set Top Box, Laptop, etc all from one HDMI cable, then the TV routes the sound through an optical cable to the sound bar.

PROS: As soon as a source turns on, it becomes active
    Minimal setup
    small footprint

    CONS: BRIGHT LED lights
    HDMI only

    A great product great price
bought this because my TV has only two inputs. We have a WII game, Blu-ray player and now Roku for the second input. Found out that this Switch works with our Harmony Remote. So now we just push a button to do any activity on the TV.

    PROS: 5 inputs
    great Monoprice Price

CONS: my wife says LED's too bright

    HDMI Switch the Tops
Overall I recommended this HDMI switch. The quality and price can not be beat. It works great and as per usual Monoprices quality and pricing are the best!

This switch will give you a perfect picture, no distortion of break down or picture quality. It allows for a clear HD picture in 3DHD. It also allows you to be lazy. If you are too far from the remote and you turn on your device it will automatically switch to the channel of the device you turned on. Plenty of inputs and its small size allows for easy concealment.

The power lights, bright blue for on and red for off are extremely bright LED's. In fact they are too bright and are distracting. I had to hide the switch behind my entertainment center which then doesn't allow me a clear shot for the remote when I want to turn it on. It is so bright in fact that it lights up the wall behind my entertainment center so that even though it is hidden you can still see a glow from behind. Very distracting and needs to be toned down a bit!

PROS: Switches channels to powered on devices automatically. Compact size. 5 inputs. Price!!

CONS: LED display is way to bright and distracting!
