| Question: The picture from my switch is constantly flickering, even though I have 24AWG or thicker HDMI cables. | | Answer: The issue could be caused by a device or cable nearby the setup,or in the setup causing interference. Try rerouting cable paths and distancing devices from sources of interference, such as moving routers and other networking cables away from the switch setup. |

| | HDMI Pigtail | Pros: Small form factor, reasonable cable length, clear picture
Cons: Auto-switching feature may not work for you
Does what it says on the tin switches between three HDMI inputs to let you connect more devices than you might otherwise have space for.
Unfortunately, mine doesn't seem to do this automatically like it's supposed to when a new device is powered on. I have a cable box, an HTPC, a PS3, and a Chromecast, but my receiver only has three inputs. Tried it in a few different configurations, like putting the cable box and PS3 on the switch, the PS3 and the Chromecast on the switch, the cable box and the Chromecast on the switch, etc. Never automatically switched from one to the other. (The Chromecast and the HTPC are always on, so those wouldn't be expected to work with this.)
The button to manually switch works, but I've got this all tucked away behind my entertainment center so that's not really an ideal solution.

| | Seems Fine | Pros: Works as advertised.
Cons: None so far!
Ran out of HDMI inputs even though I have four on my current TV. So far I've noticed zero degradation of quality in picture or sound (optical out from TV... HDMI in from PS4) using this switcher. I have it for the PS3 and PS4 to share one HDMI input.

| | Works Great! BUT Be Careful Using Longer HDMI Cables | Pros: Works as stated. Very easy to install.
Cons: Does not work with longer HDMI cables unless the cables are 22AWG or 24 AWG.
I bought this Monoprice product from Amazon.com. First of all, I will say that this device works. Set-up was easy - I plugged my Samsung Blu-Ray into Input 1, and my PC into Input 2, then plugged the 3x1 Pigtail into my RCA 42" TV. My Blu-Ray was detected immediately, and the 3x1 Pigtail switched to it. The picture looked great. No problem. Then I set my PC to detect other monitors, and my PC detected my TV, as usual, no problem. I saved the configuration with the TV attached to my monitor set-up. But the problem is, there is no picture on the TV. The 3x1 Pigtail did not switch over, either. So I tried the manual switch on the 3x1 Pigtail. Still, no picture. After about an hour of unplugging and replugging things into the 3x1 Pigtail, turning things on and off and on again, same thing - no picture on TV. I then tried plugging my PC direct into the TV, and then I had my picture back. I tried my wife's laptop direct into the TV, and there was a picture, but when I plugged her laptop into the 3x1 Pigtail, it went back to detecting the TV, but no picture. I then read the ad for the 3x1 Pigtail on Monoprice.com for this product, and it states "Note: Monoprice strongly recommends using 22AWG, 24AWG, or active HDMI cables with Redmere technology to achieve the best results and to ensure minimum signal loss over longer distances." Amazon does not state this. At least Monoprice does. I am using a Monoprice Select Metallic Series Standard HDMI Cable with Ethernet, 15ft, which is 28 gauge. So, I am suspecting I have to buy a 24AWG or 22AWG cable or a Redmere. So just be aware of this issue if you plan on using longer HDMI cables. And I wish Amazon would have stated that, because I just ordered another 28AWG for my wife to use with this 3x1 Pigtail.

| | Works beautifully in my setup! | Pros: Flawless switching of inputs when devices are powered off and on. 1080p passthrough.
Cons: Red LED lights are a little bright (nothing electrical tape can't fix). Wouldn't mind if the cable were just a little shorter.
My Sony TV was purchased back in 2006 and only has two HDMI inputs. I recently got a new Apple TV for my television upstairs (which is connected to an AV receiver with plenty of HDMI inputs), so I decided to move my existing Apple TV to the basement. Of course, with the Blu-ray Disc player and TV receiver already occupying both HDMI inputs on the Sony TV, I needed a way to connect all three devices with minimal fuss. This dandy little switch came up on Monoprice, and am I ever glad it did! Works brilliantly! I connected the Blu-ray Disc player and Apple TV to the new switch, and set up my Harmony remote to power off devices when they're not needed. The switch is intuitive enough to switch to the proper device when I select its corresponding activity on the Harmony remote (i.e. shutting everything else off and just leaving the desired component on). Don't even need to use the switching button on the adapter! Don't know if it would have worked as well if I connected my TV receiver to it, as it is always sending a video signal whether I'm watching something or not, but the way I have things set up, it's perfect. I should note that I'm only using this for video signals (all my audio is routed through TOSLINK cables to the receiver, which, being produced in 2001, has no HDMI ports), so I can't say how well this handles audio through HDMI.

| | 3X1 Pigtail Switch | Pros: easy to use
Cons: it would be nice if the cable was a little longer
This is a great product and it automatically switches to the device that you have powered on. The only caveat is that if you have a device that is always powered on you'll have to use the button to select the proper device
