| | Not as advertised | Pros: none
Cons: a total waste of my time and money
I ordered this product to extend a security monitor just over 200 feet from the source. After installing using Cat5e wiring the product did not work. I called Monoproice support who then informed me that longer distances required Cat6 wiring. This info was neither on the website nor in directions included with product.I had to return another day and run Cat6 wire. My monitor worked for about ten minutes then quit.It never worked after that. I resorted to buying a 230' fiber optic HDMI cable which did work,

| | Failed to get HDCP link | Pros: Arrived quickly
Cons: Didn't work out of the box.
This device while it did give me a link and power light, refused to even acknowledge HDCP. Used 2 different computers, setup with a short cable run. And no signal. Simplified my whole setup down to just the HDMI extender - 12ft CAT6 - receiver - projector. And nothing. Put a voltage inserter from C2G in place (thinking maybe there was a drop in signal level), still nothing. Get on with chat, and they tell me that they have noticed some problems running everything using short (under 3 ft) cables. I am using Monoprice's 24AWG commercial grade HDMI cables. And that chat representative didn't have a clue. Now I am out of time and have to come up with an alternative solution in 10 days!! Thank you for not helping Monoprice. Going to give the HDBaseT item a shot, hopefully it works.

by santa As a followup, the HDBaseT DID work in my setup, however I still had to simplify my setup (would not work with a HDMI Splitter beyond the receiver device.) If you are not sure which one you need, spare yourself the hassle do not get this item, get PID 10225. It cost a little bit more, but it works SO MUCH better.

| Pros: worked well for 4 weeks 5th week started losing signal
Cons: reliablity
was having to unplug ethernet cable and reconnect worked for a few days not we cannot get it operate any more follow some of the other tips about unplugging power an re connect nothing seems to work now
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Thank you for your review on PID 8122. I sincerely apologize for the recent signal issues experienced with this extender. Just to verify, were there any recent changes made to the setup prior to when this started to occur? When unplugging and reconnecting everything, did you happen to start with the display and end with the source? Can we try testing out the extender with a different source device (cable box, bluray player, etc.)? What about with short (~6ft) ethernet cables just to further isolate what the issue may be? Should those steps not work, please provide me with a bit more info such as the devices connected, the lengths of the all cables (both HDMI and ethernet), and the order number. Thank you and I hope this helps!

| | Flickering image/audio. Cheap | This product did not work right out of the box. I connected it to a camera and ps3 (using a 3 foot patch cable to test it out) The image and audio flickers every 3-5 seconds. After reading other reviews, I decided not to gamble on another one. Sending this one back to monoprice.
