| | became a cordcutter | This works fine as my indoor antenna, placed near the window. I got all the major networks, CBS, NBC, ABC , FOX and 30 other channels - Spanish, Chinese, Korean, and shopping channels. Easy set up, good price. would buy again, to encourage family/friends to cut the cord.

| | Pretty good in metro area for a great price | Pros: - Amplified - Great price - Easy to set up and use
Cons: - Probably won't work across large distances or if trees and buildings are blocking your signal
This is a pretty good HDTV antenna if you live in a metropolitan area. It's amplified so I get all of the local channels, whereas my previous unpowered antenna barely got any channels. Definitely get amplified.
Radio Shack sells an inferior antenna for $50 so Monoprice, as always, is a great deal!
I live in Oakland (SF Bay Area) so the broadcast stations are pretty close to me (about 7 miles from SF "as the crow flies"), so take that into account. I am also in the top floor of my building, so take that into account. I doubt this antenna would work if you're in a ground floor apartment, blocked by trees and/or buildings, or the broadcast stations are dozen(s) of miles away.

| | not happy | Pros: doesnt work. I tried every setting and followed all the instructions, and i get no picture.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Tony,
Thank you for your review and sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with PID 7976. Our antennas will only work with green/yellow signals (UHF 470-870 MHz and VHF 47-230 MHz) up to a 50 mile radius from the antenna. Please verify that your area receives these types of signals at the following website: https://www.tvfool.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29
If it shows that you can receive channels be sure that when scanning for channels that you are selecting "Air" or "Antenna". Also, you may have to try re-positioning the antenna to get a better signal.

| | Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna | Pros: None.
Cons: - doesn't seem to work indoors. All I get is a lot of snow. Never tried it outdoors - not sure if the product is faulty or what.
- doesn't seem to work indoors. All I get is a lot of snow. Never tried it outdoors - not sure if the product is faulty or what. - Another brand antenna that I purchased locally pulls in over a dozen stations indoors. So it can't be the location.
by Monoprice Administrator Hi Bernard,
I am truly sorry to hear of the reception issues experienced with PID 7976. If you haven't already, I suggest checking antennaweb.org to see which stations broadcast in your area as well as the direction of broadcasting towers. Our antennas will only pick up green and yellow signals so they will not pick up any other signals such as red, blue, or violet.
Now, if I may ask, is the antenna angled towards the direction of the nearest broadcasting tower in your area for the best possible reception? Is the power inserter connected in this setup? If so, is the red LED illuminated while the antenna is in use? Also, if at all possible, can we try placing the antenna outdoors or even by a window to see if the snow clears up? Please let me know your results from there so we can best assist you in resolving this issue. Thank you.

| | Good value small/inexpensive antenna | Pros: It's small, the post is flexible and it comes with parts to attach to a mast (which I did not use). The antenna is not very directional (which is good in an area with multiple broadcast antenna locations.
Cons: It's a compromise from a big antenna. It's okay, but don't expect it to bring in stations on the fringe of an urban area especially if it's in the attic.
I've used two of these antennas. One is at a vacation home with signals coming from three directions. The antenna It works great and pulls all three signal locations in fine with no problems. (Tower distance is 4 miles, 3 miles and 15 miles and antenna is aimed at the 15 mile towers). This antenna is mounted in the attic. This one has been installed a couple years with no trouble.
The second one is about 40 miles from the LA stations. I use it in a spot where I could not run cable from another antenna easily. The small antenna was mounted in my attic initially and picked up almost nothing (probably due to roofing/stucco building materials). I moved it outside and it now picks up all the stations my normal Yagi outdoor antenna gets, but with a lower but acceptable signal strength. This one has only been recently installed, so I do not know how the antenna will hold up in the elements outside.
I would certainly use this antenna for a quick/little/inexpensive easy to install pop up antenna.
