Make your own professional quality Ethernet and other network cables to the exact lengths you require using this Professional Networking Kit from Monoprice!
This kit contains everything you need to make Ethernet cables, except for the cable itself. It includes six 8P8C RJ45 and six 6P6C RJ12 plugs, a crimping tool designed to fit both plug types, a punch-down tool for 110 type terminal blocks, and a UTP/STP flat cable stripper/cutter.
A cable tester is also included to ensure that your finished cables are fully operational.

| | Included Cable Tester is not worth getting |  Pros: The kit looks nice.
Cons: The tester in the kit is very cheap and not worth it.
Spent days testing and troubleshooting 10 lines dropped down to wall plate keystones and patch panel. The tester gave OK readings on 5 of my cable drops, and strange readings on the other 5. I fully inspected the punch downs on the keystones and the patch panel and everything looked great. Still the same problem with the tester. Re punched all the keystones and patch panel again. Same results. The tester gave no clue as to why the bad cables, just strange flashing light readings not described in the poorly written user guide.
The rest of the tools are OK, but I purchased the kit to have a continuity tester that worked for me. I wouldn't recommend this kit. Just get any of the other tools you need separately.

If I may ask, can you further elaborate on the strange readings that occurred when testing the five cables? For the base unit, which LEDs lit up specifically? What about for the remote? Did you happen to test those cables with any devices to see if they were working properly? Please let me know so I can best assist you in resolving this matter. | | I love this kit | Pros: The cable stripper is fantastic. The Continuity tester works. The kit contains what I need.
The case is tough, and I just toss it into my car, or bungie it down to the sides.
Cons: Very few connectors included. Pretty minor.
The crimper is kind of cheap, but then nice crimpers cost more than this whole kit.
66/110 punchdown tool works as expected.
I love this kit. It does everything that I need, and once the cable stripper is adjusted, it is incredibly simple and effective to use.
I prefer higher end crimp tools when doing a lot of work, but then they cost more than this kit does.
For what it is, this kit is a fantastic deal.
Make sure to order more RJ45 and RJ11 connectors.

| | A must buy | Pros: After I received this kit I immediately quit wondering whether I would regret paying the price I did. Well, these tools are much better than the cheapies my friends have bought. They are sturdy and do their job. The cable testers work, which is more than I can ask for.
Cons: Not the most comfortable to hold, but that is a small gripe.
One person in a review wrote: "The wire cutter kept cutting the individual strands of my cat5e cable. It was extremely frustrating to have to keep cutting the cable further and further back until I finally gave up and just peeled off the cable myself with a razor blade."
I have always had trouble with those cutters and I know many seasoned IT people who say the same. It is crucial that the individual strands do not get cut, so do yourself a favor and don't rely on a tool like that. Do it with manual precision and ensure that things are done right. This is not a job that is worth cutting corners on.

| Pros: This kits contains the tools to perform networking, phone wiring, and even work with coax. This kit has good components that added up to much more than what I paid for it and it is in a nice case that makes it easy to carry.
Cons: Smaller pieces can easily fall out when case is opened.
If you need networking tools, consider this kit. The quality of the components appear to be good. I have only had it for a short time so I cannot comment further than that,
