| 8 Channel CCTV Camera Power Supply - 12VDC - 13Amps | | | Question: Why does the Amp rating on the distribution box's differ? | | Answer: It is because it is expected that when you have that many cameras, you will be mixing & matching IR and non-IR cameras. Non-IR obviously doesn't require nearly as much power. |

| | It's just ok. | My old power supply stopped working on my 8 camera (with IR) system. I had good experience with monoprice products in the past (I'd rate most things 4-5 stars), but this one was somewhat disappointing in comparison. This product works on my 8 camera system and restored all cameras, thus deserving 3 stars. However, several channels now have intermittent horizontal lines, kind of like static that distorts the picture - I didn't have this with my previous power supply. The other issue I had with installation - thin/flimsy metal box with poor workmanship on the cutouts required me to use a drill to open up the hole. I initially tried to bang through the cutout with screwdriver/hammer but that just caused the box to deform. I think the cutouts were not cut at all. Finally, there's no lock.
In conclusion, I probably would choose another product if I were to do this again. I'd rather pay a little more for a better product.

| Pros: easy connections, work with no problems
Cons: box is somewhat flimsy but gets the job done
I have used a couple of these for CCTV systems along with the 16 channel version and both have worked just fine. First couple have been in operation for approx. 1 year now and no problems. It sure cleans up the cable mess vs. using the individual power supplies.

| | I bought it for the output amps | Pros: Works great.. The output voltage is adjustable via a pot located at the bottom right-hand side of the power strip.. A definite plus but not documented in the product description.. Auto reset output fuses for each of the 8 loads.. Red LEDs for each of the 8 loads.. Consumes only 8 watts 120v input without a load.. No hum.. A/C D/C converter stays cool to the touch.. 13 amps for only 8 loads which is exactly what I needed in order to run both cams and ir illuminators..
Cons: Would have been nice to have had a built-in lock or at least a knockout for a lock.. Would have paid additional for a lock option.. Leads from converter to separate load terminal PCB cut extremely short, had to disconnect temporarily in order to wire-in A/C leads.. A/C lead only 2 wire (no ground), replaced cable with 3 wire and tied ground to chassis.. Most important, outer case is very small, minimal interior room, not all mounting knockouts are accessible, had to completely remove all internal components to mount then reassemble in-place..
Please read the pros/con's for my review

| | Bad Batch??? | Pros: PTC resettable "fuses" and the price
Cons: Won't handle more than four cameras on an eight channel supply
We connected 5-cameras (.75 amps each) to the eight channel supply, which over taxed it, creating a roll in the video. We removed one camera and all the others cleared up. We tried this with various cameras connected to make sure it wasn't a camera bringing the system down, but this only happened when we connected the 5th camera. I would say it was a single issue, but we experienced the same thing in both of the buildings we were working on with this project. We installed a second supply and the cameras are now working properly. For the price, I would suggest using the 16-channel (cheaper) and only connect about eight cameras, which is what we did in the second building with no issues!

| Pros: Great PS. So far, haven't had one fail. They seem pretty solid and I certainly don't miss the old school fuse design.
Cons: Could use more punchouts on the other sides, and wish the doors were removable for wiring in tight spaces. Otherwise, no complaints.
