106-inch, 16:9 Matte White Fabric Motorized Projection Screen
Give yourself the gift of a true Home Theater system with this Motorized Projection Screen from Monoprice!
This screen is made from a high-quality four-layer fabric. The surface layer is embossed with PVC microdots, which produces a 1.0 gain across an extra wide 160 degree viewing angle. The second layer is made of PVC, followed by a fiberglass layer, and another PVC layer to complete the screen. The result is a smooth screen surface with a stretch rate of less than 1%. By comparison, traditional chemical treated fabric screens have stretch rates as high as 33%!
The screen can be mounted on the ceiling or on a wall. It is raised and lowered using a Somfy motor with an RF remote control. Somfy is the leading manufacturer of specialty motors, which provide ultra-smooth, silent operation and are known for their durability and long life. The screen measures 106 diagonal inches and is sized for a 16:9 aspect ratio. The package includes hardware to mount the screen to a wall.

| | Good screen, poor shipping options | Pros: Great screen, mounts nicely, functions without issue, great in a bright room, if matched with a capable projector.
Cons: Watch out for shipping costs item now ships separately from the rest of your order.
This is my third purchase of a Monoprice screen (second of this model). I live up in Canada and have a customs broker to handle the cross-border shipment (I find the costs for Monoprice to ship to Canada outrageous). The broker charges a brokerage fee with every shipment that comes in doesn't matter the number of cartons, just as they all come together, from the same shipper.
The first two of my screen purchases arrived with the rest of the order (i.e. Monoprice shipped the order, along with the screen, via UPS freight), however the latest one was shipped standard UPS and the screen separated and shipped via UPS freight individually.
So this means that not only do you now have to pay additionally for the shipping of the screen ($150 in my case, to Washington State), but you'll end up paying separate brokerage fees because they're now splitting the shipments up!

| | Great Screen, Great Price, Ceiling and Wall Mount | The screen is HEAVY! It was not too bad to install though honestly. It does take 2 people, and you will want to have a level handy, but the pre-installed brackets allowed me to mount it to a wall with little difficulty (actually mounted it in a vaulted ceiling).
The remote is great, allowing for Up, Down, Stop, and minor adjust up and down. I will say that the minor adjust would be better if it was more granular, but it is certainly acceptable.
I would absolutely buy another one of these if there was a room that could use it.

| Pros: Huge Screen, easy to install, looks great with the Epson 8350
Cons: Shipping (UPS freight sucks) and the remote doesn't work
This screen is all and more. It is perfect for the room I have it in (was going to go bigger, but it wouldn't have fit with the speakers I have). Other than the remote not working (tried new batteries and had the remote right next to the box) will try a few more things, but with where I'll be mounting the box, it won't be that big of an inconvenience. Was able to adjust the drop distance within minutes and had it set to where I wanted it and it doesn't try to rip the kinect off the wall.

| | Good Screen, how to adjust drop limit | Pros: Good price, relatively easy install, works well so far.
Cons: No trigger input. Does not connect to Harmony remote.
Chose this because of the cost. The screen is great, picture quality with an EPSON 8350 is very good. The projector has a trigger out which sends a trigger to a screen so the screen can come down when the projector is on. This screen does not have that input - not a big deal. If you want to connect to a universal remote such as Harmony 900 chose the IR screen.
I learnt how to adjust the drop and the retraction limit (manual asks to contact manufacturer to adjust), here is how to do it: Face the screen, on the left corner of the screen you will find two yellow sockets (on the inside). The top one adjusts the drop limit and the bottom one adjusts the retraction limit. Note: If you adjust the drop limit you have to adjust the retraction limit otherwise you may damage the motor. Using the yellow wand that came with the projector (or use the bit of a phillips screwdriver) turn the drop limit socket (this will need some deft finger play and patience). By trial and error keep dropping the screen till the desired height is achieved. Next adjust the retraction limit by turning the socket for it (lower one) till the screen retraction stops just before hitting the frame. Note: One way to tell if the retraction limit is not sufficient is that the screen will retract and stop with a thump meaning that the motor is not stopping on its own. When properly adjusts the screen will retract and stop with a smooth click meaning the motor stopped by itself rather than when the screen could not be retracted anymore (thump sound).
Hope this helps, overall very pleased with the screen.

| | nice screen | Pros: Great build quality. Easy to mount. Adjustable drop that's very granular. Comes with mounting hardware and brackets. Quiet and fast motor. Screen is a thick material that can block sunlight from the window behind it.
Cons: Needs to air out the first few days because of a powerful chemical stink. IR remote didn't work. low gain.
A nice screen. It takes 11 seconds to drop the screen. 12 seconds to go back up. Too bad the remote didn't work. Good thing the screen also has a wired control box.
