Mini DisplayPort Coupler (Female to Female) - Straight Type
This Mini Displayport coupler will allow you to connect the male ends of two Mini Displayport cables in order to make one longer cable. This is a straight type coupler that will work great for most standard applications.
Mini DisplayPort is a miniaturized version of DisplayPort, the newest digital display interface developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). | Mini DisplayPort Coupler (Female to Female) - Straight Type | | | Question: My adapter and/or cables are connected to my Mac but I don’t have any picture, even though the Mac recognizes the adapter? | Answer: You may need to adjust the display settings on the Mac before you can see any picture on the tv.
Try the following:
1.) Go into the System Settings
2.) Go into the Display Settings
3.) On one of the Tabs in the Display Settings Window there will be a button on the lower right hand corner that says “Detect Displays”. Click on it.
4.) On one of the other tabs in the Display Settings Window will be a list of different resolutions, such as 1920x1080. Try them all until you find one that works, it can vary from setup to setup depending on the devices.
5.) On some models of Mac’s you can disable the discrete video card. When discrete video is disable the external display does not work. Re-enabling discrete video fixes the issue. To check if it is enabled go into the system settings and it will be under the energy saver options in the upper left hand side.

6.) Run the graphics and EFI updates.
Some firmware updates for Intel-based Macs may not be displayed automatically using Software Update. If they do not appear in Software Update, they must be manually downloaded from the Apple Downloads site. If you are unsure whether your computer needs a particular update, simply download and open the update installer. The installer will alert you if the firmware update is already installed or not needed. | | Question: When I connect the mini dvi/mini displayport adapter to my mac my wifi signal drops or completely stops working. | Answer: There are several things that can cause these symptoms. Try the following:
1.) Ensure the adapter is connected and straight, not being bent or angled in any way. Having the Mac on a stand which causes the adapter to hang freely can cause issues as well.
2.) Try swapping the cable connected to the adapter.
3.) Try changing the channel of the wireless signal on your router. It may take several attempts to find one that works for your network. Some that have been reported to work the best are: Channel 1, 5, 6, and 8. |

Cons: Doesn't work - at all.
I didn't read reviews before buying this because it's a coupler. I'm using this to be able to quickly swap between two apple devices, one PC and a 27" QHD monitor. I've tried several different cables of various brands (and tested them direct with the coupler) and it's definitely the coupler. How could a coupler not work? Doesn't make any sense - these need to get pulled from the market - they're just non-functional.

| | works on displayport only | Pros: Female-Female coupler. Hard to find for mini displayport
Cons: Flaky connection, sometimes I have to re-seat the connection to get my mac display back.
It works fine for MINI DISPLAYPORT on my 2008 cinema display (video only). This is NOT a thunderbolt product. I just wish it was more reliable.

| The coupler is well made cables snap-in nice and secure. It would be a 10, but...
I need to get from the standard DP on my laptop docking station to a Mini-DP-to-HDMI cable (a male mini-DP end). I also got a DP-to-mini-DP cable. Everything plugs together just fine, but no picture or sound.
No config changes I can find on the laptop fix this, but the problem is almost certainly NOT the coupler. Still highly recommended.

Cons: Absolutely does not work. Useless even for a paperweight.
After reading all the negative reviews I still decided to take a chance on this item thinking that my situation was different than the other reviewers. The item came, I plugged it in and no dice. I double checked all of my other related connections and they proved out. Even after an extensive chat with a tech I still did not get the correct replacement part. In fact, of the two couplers I ordered they sent me a replacement for the one that did work! I should have listened.

Cons: Apple Thunderbolt connections will not fully seat in the connector.
Using to do a VGA connection from a PC to Apple Monitor, neither end of the connector would allow the Thunderbolt connector to fully seat. Not sure what the interface problem was, just gave up.
