Tube Overdrive Mini Pedal (Limit 10 per Customer)
Add overdrive to your pedal board with this Tube Overdrive Mini Pedal from Monoprice!
This mini pedal produces a simulated tube response for a warm, vintage sound. At low drive settings, it generates a vacuum tube-like overdrive effect, while at high drive settings it generates a screamer clipping-fuzz effect. The pedal features true bypass, so it won't alter your tone when not actively in use.
The casing is metal for long term durability. It is powered using a 9VDC power adapter with a negative tip/center, such as our 9V Power Supply for Guitar Pedals (PID 611690). Note that the manual erroenously lists the DC connector size as 3.5/1.1mm. The connector is actually 5.5/2.1mm, which is the same as that of the 611690 power supply. The manual will be updated and posted here as soon as possible.

| | Sounds as good as a TS-808 | Pros: Price Sounds good Small Bright LED Quiet Low/High knobs Sounds great
Cons: Not completely metal, but at this price I'm not sure you can really complain about that.
I used to own a reissue of the original TS-808 and this thing sounds as good as that pedal did. It actually sounds better with my strat than my King of Tone pedal from Analogman.... I literally replaced my King of Tone overdrive with this thing yesterday for a gig next week. I powered this pedal with my onespot and it was completely silent. I don't play noiseless single coils either so I think it's safe to say this pedal is quiet, no humming or buzzing at all in my experience. Play this baby with a decent tube amp and a strat and it sounds very SRV like, set the Gain at about 9 O'clock and turn the level up past 12 o'clock to your liking.

| | Definitely a contender in this price range | Pros: Has a fairly buttery sound.
Cons: Plastic side construction.
This pedal has a very good sound, particuarly at this price point. It's got very little noise while 'on' but not playing the guitar. The only nit is the 'plastic sidewalls' of the thing. Otherwise, this is a strong contender in the 'budget 808 overdrive pedal sweepstakes'.

| | Noisy in more ways than one. | Pros: Inexpensive, small footprint, solid.
Cons: Noisy in more ways than one.
Wanted to like this small footprint, inexpensive overdrive. Pretty noisy pedal, which in general is not that unexpected in an overdrive pedal, but it's a bit much for my taste. The low rating however is mostly due to some weird shielding issue whereby any tapping on the case (even just moving the cable attached) can be clearly heard on the amp. Too bad, as it is otherwise built solidly.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Thank you for your review on PID 611602. I see that you also have PID 9441 on this order:
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=115&cp_id=11509&cs_id=1150901&p_id=9441&seq=1&format=2&rep=gab
Just to verify, is this the cable being used with the pedal? If not, what is the Product ID of the cable (if purchased from us)? Please let me know so I can best assist you with resolving this issue. Thank you in advance!

by Anonymous Hi Gabby - it's not a cable issue I've tried different cables. Just tapping on the case makes an audible noise.

by Monoprice Administrator Hi Jon,
If using general audio cables such as PID 9441, please note that the shielding and build of the cable would be different than instrument specific cables and can pick up movement/tapping. PID 9441 would work best for high-end, low-noise performance and recording setups such as for connecting speakers to an amp or mixer. For an instrument cable, please see PID 601406 instead:
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=115&cp_id=11509&cs_id=1150901&p_id=601406&seq=1&format=2&rep=gab
Please let me know if you have any questions. Or, if unsatisfied with the pedal, I can assist you in setting up a return RMA for store credit. Thank you for your response and I hope this helps!
Regards, Gabby V. Tech Support Associate
by Anonymous Gabrielle, I believe the defect is in the pedal and not with cabling. So, sure, please let's go forward with an RMA for credit.

| | Little Green Monster | Pros: Metal casing, over driven tones that make me happy, relatively low price point, small form factor
I've been using the overdrive pedal daily for just over two weeks. The pedal was smaller than what I would have expected but that isn't a bad thing. I was able to add it to an already full pedal board with ease. Remember too that this pedal doesn't take a battery so you will need a power supply of some sort. I'm using a filtered Joyo power supply and do not get any unwanted hum out of the pedal when in use. However, when I just used the monoprice 9v power supply I did get quiet a bit of hum and hiss (old home wiring), so its best to use a filtered power supply. Tones are great and exceeded my expectations at the price point, you'll need to spend at least double to get anything similar from a different brand. For the price this pedal is well worth a go, enjoy!

| | May I say, as good as Ibanez Tube Screamer | Pros: Warm, creamy overdirve with lots of articulation. Tone adjustments are a great touch, and level adjustment allows for use as a rhythm effect, or turn up the level for a solo boost pedal.
Cons: That Monoprice didn't make this thing available earlier.
I have an Ibanez Tube Screamer ( the original Overdirve pedal), and this pedal sounds as good or maybe even better than the original real thing. The tone adjustment is helpful when switching between Humbucker and single coil pick-ups, since single coils can sound a bit thin without adjusting the tone, and having tone adjustments on the actual pedal, saves you from re-adjusting your amplifier (finding that sweet spot for the tone controls on your amplifier can be a tedious, time consuming exercise if you are as particular as I am). This thing works great in a tube based amplifier. I have not tried it in a transistor based amp. I love the tiny size, since real estate on my pedal board is always at a premium. All I can say is, if you are looking for a "REAL" Tube Overdirve Pedal, that gives honest "Overdrive" tone, then this will fulfill that search. At Monoprice's price, just buy it. Don't forget the power supply (not included with the pedal) .
