Before it gets shipped to you, each Monoprice guitar undergoes a setup, tuning, and inspection process by Master Luthier Roger Gresco here in Southern California. The setup ensures that the neck is straight, the action is right, and that it will stay in tune. To protect your investment, it comes with a 10mm padded, zippered, gig bag with shoulder strap and a truss-rod wrench.
Pros: Beautiful finish. Great intonation. No jagged fret edges. Perfect action. No additional setup needed for mine.
Cons: Cheap pick guard but who cares. Looks great without it. Difficult to dial in a good sound through an amp. I found I got the best sound with my Fishman Loudbox by pushing the presence all the way up. Heavier than most other acoustic/electrics. Bag is thin but at least there is a bag! Cheap input jack needed to be replaced. Add that to the price of the guitar and it is still a great deal at $100.
For the money, this is a great guitar. The intonation, action, frets are all perfect. Intonation is better than my Taylor 100 series. This is not a warm, rich sounding instrument but you can get very good sounds through an amp with it. I play in a band that does Beatles covers and it is perfect for those early Beatles tunes that have acoustic on them. It gets a clear strumming sound, very percussive, but it does not get in the way. I took off the pick guard because I thought it looked cheap. I brought this guitar to two guitar shops and found nothing better until I got to the low end Martins and Taylors. In other words, this was better than anything under $600! I have had this guitar for a year now. I replaced the input jack because the cable would fall out. Fortunately that is an inexpensive fix. Still happy I bought it!

Unbelievable value for the price
Pros: Value Sound Quality Action Looks great 2 strap pins Pickup
Cons: MonoPrice "M" on the head of the guitar.
First of all, I'm not a professional guitar player, but I have a very good friend that is. I read the reviews online and decided to take a chance on this guitar. I had taken a few lessons on my own several years ago but didn't own a guitar. I had borrowed someone else's instrument for my lessons. Well when I had to return that one, my lessons fell off quickly. So here I am thinking about starting up again.
This guitar is an excellent guitar for me. The action is low and the sound is nice and full. I've tested the pick up (to make sure it worked), but I haven't had it hooked up to a nice system yet. But the sound out of the guitar, just as an acoustic is great. I was apprehensive to show it to my friend as I thought he'd tear it apart with his comments, but he kept saying, "You paid what for this? I can't believe it." He started playing it and was very impressed. He commented that he'd played $800 guitars that didn't sound as good as this. YES!!!
My only issue was one of the bridge pin heads broke off. MonoPrice offered to exchange the guitar for another one, but I was so happy with it, I didn't want to stop practicing to wait for the replacement. So I went and bought $3 worth of bridge pins to replace it when I replace the strings. Which will be a while. The pin is still functioning fine, the only part that broke off was the round head.
I play the guitar every day and only have to do minimal tuning. I use the MonoPrice tuner as well that clips on the head of the neck.
Also, I haven't had any trouble with the buzzing that some mentioned. If I hear a buzz it's usually because of my technique and not the build of the unit.
Again, I can't stop singing the praises of this guitar. Great buy.

Love it.
Pros: Looks and plays nice. Best 100 dollar guitar ever.
Cons: None
Shipped quickly. Arrived in perfect condition. Plays really well, no complaints with setup. Neck is straight, electronics sound great. I am immensely happy with this guitar and would not hesitate to highly recommend it. I saw a post about someone having to add a strap button, but this does have buttons at both ends. Headstock has a big M now instead of Monoprice, which is fine by me. Have not used the case yet, but it seems fine and has nice smooth zippers. I am comparing it to my old Ovation round back electric acoustic. Acoustically about the same, which I think is good. Electronics are way better. The string action is also better on the Foothill. Thanks Monoprice!

A Bit Disappointed in The Flatop Acoustic/Electric So Far
Pros: Very glad to see the "Monoprice" text that appears on the headstock of other Monoprice guitars that I purchased has been replaced by a simple "M" logo on this one..
For the price point it has a good finish with only minor imperfections.
The inexpensive equalizer works surprisingly well. Would be nice to have built in tuner but I knew that going in. Not a big deal since I have the clip-on Monoprice tuner that works well.
The included gig bag seems a bit more padded than the flimsy bags included with the Monoprice electric guitars.
Shipping was fast and FREE and guitar was packed well.
Cons: The guitar I received was not setup well - strings buzz, sound dull, and intonation is off a bit. I will swap out strings with a high quality set and adjust the truss rod and hope that makes the instrument playable. Otherwise I am sure that the excellent Monoprice customer service will take care of me as they have consistently done for me on prior orders. That had issues.
This is my 5th Monoprice guitar but the first acoustic model I have purchased. I am satisfied with all of the solid body electrics I purchased but they all required some tweaking to make them playable. It looks like this acoustics will too. The jury is still out on whether I will keep this one.
First the good stuff: shipping was fast and FREE! The guitar was double boxed and also stuffed inside the included gig bag. Packing was adequate and the guitar arrived safe and sound. The finish is nice with only some imperfections, understandable for a mass-produced Chinese product at this price point. I have this guitar plugged into a Fender Acoustasonic amp. The equalizer has a fairly wide frequency response and works surprisingly well for such an inexpensive device (Iit can be ordered as a standalone kit on the Internet - not from Monoprice - for under $10).
Now the not so good stuff: I find it hard to believe that this guitar underwent a setup by a professional luthier. The strings buzz annoyingly and intonation seems a bit off. The included strings also sound dull - either unplugged or plugged in. There is little harmonics to be found up the fret board. I will attempt to swap out the strings with a high quality brand name set and will adjust the truss rod to see if that eliminates the buzzing and helps with the intonation. If that doesn't work, at this price point I do not think it would be cost effective to pay a local pro guitar tech try to make it playable and I may instead return it. Based on other great reviews it looks like my experience is the exception. I know this will work out for me one way or another. I still will recommend Monoprice products including their guitars to anyone who will listen to me.
