| | Good Value for Price | Pros: Inexpensive and sturdy
Cons: Bulky. The minimum height of the unit I received seems to be around 8 feet, so keep that in mind if your vertical space is limited (using it in normal house situations)
This stand is large and sturdy with plenty of places to attach lights and other accessories. I can't vouch for it's full practical height or weight limits, but it holds enough for my purposes (I've got it set up at about 8-1/2 feet tall and holding about 70 lbs of lights and equipment).
Monoprice seems to have listened to previous reviews, as the unit I received had instructions with images to help identify the parts. The instructions could certainly have been clearer, but it wasn't too hard to figure it out and get the whole thing set up.

| | Same or Better than overprice lighting stands from Guitar Center Ect. | Pros: This lighting stand is well constructed and completely as advertised. I've use similar lighting stands from Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, and American Musical Supply and this stand is of the same quality or better and at a much cheaper price.
Cons: As with all the other lighting stands I've used from competitors there is a bit of rusty dust inside part of the telescoping piece of the stand.

| Pros: Seems to be solid once it's assembled. Price is great, less than a single stand elsewhere.
Cons: No instructions included. Took some trial and error, as well as referring to pictures online to get it assembled.
As mentioned in the above "Cons", it took a little bit of time to assemble the first time, but once completed, this system seems to be solid and does what we need it to. Purchased for a church youth group to use as backlight for a portable stage. So far, it has endured the weekly set up and teardown. (Have been using it for about 3 months at time point. I've used other brands similar product, and the Monoprice one performs just as well. I would not hesitate to purchase again when the need arrises.

| | OK, not great | Pros: The price is right. It's stable, and tall, once you get it together.
Cons: Cumbersome to assemble. The fasteners used strip VERY easily. The quality of steel in the fasteners is really bad. There is one section that slides into the other section, and the way the shoulder is, it gets wedged in there very easily and is nearly impossible to pull apart again. Some of the holes don't line up very well either.
This was disappointing because usually monoprice mounting hardware is very good quality in my experience. The entire stand is made from butter-soft steel. This wouldn't be too bad if the fasteners they give you weren't also made of mushy soft steel. As I mentioned in the cons, the place where two parts "slip fit" together binds up very easily, and can become nearly impossible to get apart. The design isn't faulty, it's a decent design, it's just the materials used were clearly sub-par. To continue using this thing, I'm going to have to replace all the fasteners and design some sort of collar to keep the slip fit sections from binding together. I'm only using this thing to hold a sign up, I wouldn't trust it with anywhere near the weight that it's "rated" for, that's liable to get someone killed when the ultra-soft steel fails.
