| Mini DisplayPort Male to DisplayPort Female Adapter | | | Question: Q: Does this adapter carry audio? | | Answer: A: Yes, if both the source device and receiving device both support the displayport audio format. | | Question: My adapter and/or cables are connected to my Mac but I don’t have any picture, even though the Mac recognizes the adapter? | Answer: You may need to adjust the display settings on the Mac before you can see any picture on the tv.
Try the following:
1.) Go into the System Settings
2.) Go into the Display Settings
3.) On one of the Tabs in the Display Settings Window there will be a button on the lower right hand corner that says “Detect Displays”. Click on it.
4.) On one of the other tabs in the Display Settings Window will be a list of different resolutions, such as 1920x1080. Try them all until you find one that works, it can vary from setup to setup depending on the devices.
5.) On some models of Mac’s you can disable the discrete video card. When discrete video is disable the external display does not work. Re-enabling discrete video fixes the issue. To check if it is enabled go into the system settings and it will be under the energy saver options in the upper left hand side.
~ Should that not work ~
6.) Run the graphics and EFI updates.
Some firmware updates for Intel-based Macs may not be displayed automatically using Software Update. If they do not appear in Software Update, they must be manually downloaded from the Apple Downloads site. If you are unsure whether your computer needs a particular update, simply download and open the update installer. The installer will alert you if the firmware update is already installed or not needed. | | Question: When I connect the mini dvi/mini displayport adapter to my mac my wifi signal drops or completely stops working. | Answer: There are several things that can cause these symptoms. Try the following:
1.) Ensure the adapter is connected and straight, not being bent or angled in any way. Having the Mac on a stand which causes the adapter to hang freely can cause issues as well.
2.) Try swapping the cable connected to the adapter.
3.) Try changing the channel of the wireless signal on your router. It may take several attempts to find one that works for your network. Some that have been reported to work the best are: Channel 1, 5, 6, and 8. |

| | Broke immediately | The Connector worked initially, but after 1 or 2 insertions into my computer the contacts on the mini dp port stripped out of it and now it is completely useless. It lasted not even a few days. The side that connects with the full sized displayport is pretty solid of a connection, but if any angle is on the other side it seems like it will easily break this part

| | Works but... | Works as intended, but cost about the same as a 6 ft cable.

| | Save your money | Pros: Small and compact
Cons: After reading several reviews on this adaptor I decided to take a chance on it. Unfortunately it lived up to the disappointment so many others had expressed. Nothing! The MacBook didn't acknowledge the adaptor was even connected.
This adaptor needs to go back to the drawing board. Save your money and shop for a different adaptor.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Thank you for your review and truly sorry to hear about the issues experienced with PID 5714. If I may ask, did you try going into the display settings to see if the monitor was being detected? You may need to select the "Detect Displays" button when doing this. What length Displayport cable are you using in this setup? Have you tried swapping out the cable to see if any difference was made? Also, has this been an issue since you first received the adapter?
Please let me know if the problems still occur. If they do, I can assist you in obtaining a replacement to see if it will work better or a return RMA. We have a one year warranty on this adapter and obtaining the replacement would be of no additional cost. If you want to continue with an RMA, please let me know if you wanted to return it or obtain a replacement. Thank you!

by Anonymous Hello Gabby,
I had tried detecting the displays several times with no luck. I don't have an exact measurement on the Display cable but I would estimate them to be 50ft. The environment is a conference room with monitor controlled through a Crestron media center.
We have confirmed the conference room equipment works with laptops equipped with display ports.
Thanks, Josh
by Monoprice Administrator Hi Josh,
Just to verify, were you able to test it with any shorter cables just to further isolate what the issue may be? I recommend trying a 15ft or shorter cable if possible. Please let me know if you still have problems detecting the display and if you wanted to proceed with a replacement or return RMA. Thank you in advance!

| | Stopped working | Worked initially with my Display Port to VGA adapter. Probably after the 8 or 9th time it was plugged into my Macbook Air it stopped working. Adapter is still good and another mini-Display Port to VGA cable works.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello,
Truly sorry to hear about your experience with PID 5714. To clarify, have you tried switching out your DisplayPort cable used with the adapter? Also, for to troubleshooting purposes, have you tried connecting to a different source or display? Thank you for your cooperation in the matter.

| | Exceptional | Pros: I was looking for a similar item in Canada and could not locate on at a reasonable cost, all vendors were 4x the price. Even with the cost of shipping included, this is a great value.
Cons: Took an extra day or two, but well worth the wait
Excellent experience, exactly what I wanted when I wanted it. All at a reasonable price
