Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter
This adapter will allow you to use standard DVI-D cables with the mini-DVI port found on some laptop computers.
Note: This adapter will only support DVI digital connections for use with DVI-D or DVI-I digital monitors. It will not support DVI-A analog monitors.

| Question: What is Mini DVI? How is it different from regular DVI? | | Answer: Mini-DVI is a smaller, miniturized version of the DVI connector most commonly found on devices made by Apple Computers. It has the same functionality of DVI but is a more compact connectors so that less space is taken up on the body of the computer. | | Question: Does this adapter support audio? | | Answer: No, like standard DVI, the mini-DVI does not support audio functions. | | Question: My adapter and/or cables are connected to my Mac but I don’t have any picture, even though the Mac recognizes the adapter? | Answer: You may need to adjust the display settings on the Mac before you can see any picture on the tv.
Try the following:
1.) Go into the System Settings
2.) Go into the Display Settings
3.) On one of the Tabs in the Display Settings Window there will be a button on the lower right hand corner that says “Detect Displays”. Click on it.

4.) On one of the other tabs in the Display Settings Window will be a list of different resolutions, such as 1920x1080. Try them all until you find one that works, it can vary from setup to setup depending on the devices. | | Question: When I connect the mini dvi/mini displayport adapter to my mac my wifi signal drops or completely stops working. | Answer: There are several things that can cause these symptoms. Try the following:
1.) Ensure the adapter is connected and straight, not being bent or angled in any way. Having the Mac on a stand which causes the adapter to hang freely can cause issues as well.
2.) Try swapping the cable connected to the adapter.
3.) Try changing the channel of the wireless signal on your router. It may take several attempts to find one that works for your network. Some that have been reported to work the best are: Channel 1, 5, 6, and 8. |

| | Worked very well for 1.5 years... |  Pros: Worked immediately and flawlessly for 1 year, 5 months, and 4 days.
Cons: Has gradually degenerated over time.
Bought 2 of these for office laptops in September 2014. Both setups are mostly stationary, but about a month ago displays started flickering, a couple of weeks they started cutting out if the adapters were jostled. Now, any significant movement will cause the video to cut out completely and the user has to fiddle about with the adapter to find the "sweet spot" for video to return. After testing with other monitors, DVI cables, and computers, I've isolated the problem to the adapters. Still, for 1/10th the price of Apple's adapter, I believe the computers in question will be retired long before I need my 3rd or 4th adapter!

| I bought this to hook up a second monitor to my iMac, works as expected. Not really much I can say about an adapter, it either works or it doesn't.

| | a solid piece that does its job | Pros: feels solid, fits well on both ends, longer cord than the original from Apple
This item came quickly and I cannot imagine expecting more from a connector (a back rub would be nice). I did not give it a ten because I cannot predict if it will somehow breakdown too soon, and I have only had it a couple of weeks.
