Does not fit

Cons: Fragile- if dropped magnets may break. Does not fit the specified cable gauge.

Do not purchase with heavy gauge cable.

Got rid of sparklies on a 25ft cable

Pros: I ordered 2 pair because a reviewer said a pair was the 2 halves of one ferrite core. But no, one pair means one core for each end of a cable. So now I have an extra pair. Easy to snap on a cable.

Cons: Are loose on my 24 awg hdmi cable but I got them this big because so many complaints of the 24 awg being too tight to secure, so there you go. But they worked!

I saw that another reviewer said it helped with the sparkle problem. I have a new projector that also produced sparkles on blueray from a 25 foot standard-speed hdmi cable that I meticulously ran under the floor in the crawlspace of my house and dreaded changing out the cable for a highspeed hdmi. So I tried these hoping not to do the snake belly crawl again and they worked! no more sparkles!

Tight but fits

Pros: * they *do* fit item 2804 50ft 22AWG CL2 Standard HDMI® Cable - Black

Cons: * do not try to tighten with pliers! you'll crack the ferrite!
* difficult to get them to snap together with just your hands

Another review said they couldn't get them to fit the 22AWG cables, but it does work... it's just difficult.

Don't try to use any tools other than your fingers to get them to snap because you'll crack the core.

good for fat heavy-duty HDMI cable

Pros: easy to use

Cons: sometimes hard to pry open, impossible to do one-handed.

I pulled a bunch of 25 and 50 foot HDMI cables through the walls of my house and then use these on the ends of the cables. Worked fine, but I saw no real difference in video quality with or without these cores.

Got rid of defects (sparklies) on a 75ft cable

Pros: Actually work, got rid of my sparklies
Snap on over existing cables without moving or unplugging them

I am driving a Sharp LCD TV with a Mac mini from a different room using the Monoprice 75ft 22AWG HDMI cable (item 2893). I was seeing defects when displaying black on the left hand side of the screen (white sparklies). I tried with another source device and the defects went away, so I blamed the output power from the Mac mini and figured I'd need a signal amplifier.

I went ahead and picked up these ferrite cores at the same time because they were cheap and I'd heard they might help. I put one of these on on the source end and immediately the problem disappeared! This was before even unplugging the cable. I was very impressed, and now I have an extra HDMI amplifier. Next time I'll just buy these.
