    Great price works as advertised

    Pros: Cheap
    Works as advertised

Cons: Doesn't give me free money or fold my laundry for me.

This was not only the lowest price USB-Serial cable I could find, but it also works flawlessly. I plugged it into my laptop, which immediately recognized it without any drivers (Windows 10). It worked great for the project I was working on.

Works great without the need for drivers in Windows

Pros: *Price compared to other manufacturers.
*No drivers required when using with Windows (10, 8.1, 8, 7... not sure about older versions).
    *Seems to work without issue.

Cons: *Comes in a blister pack that has to be cut open. Not a big deal but I'd love to see this form of packaging grow out of favor.

I have bought a total of five of these to use for consoling into Cisco routers & switches in my home CCNA study lab. They seem to work great with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 without the need for additional drivers. They show up as a "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port" devices in Device Manager as they utilize a Prolific chipset. I have an older, non-Monoprice adapter that cost probably three times as much and uses the same chipset and has lasted me four years without issue. I have a feeling the Monoprice adapters will be just as reliable.

Pros: A great cable at an exceptional price. Works as advertised.

    Cons: None

This cable was instantly recognized as a Prolific Chipset using the driver from Monoprice cable 2607, (http://downloads.monoprice.com/files/drivers/2067_Drivers_Win_XV7_071128.zip).

    Was nice while it lasted

Pros: Lasted beyond the 90-day return period.
Was useful for devices with serial consoles.

Cons: Died 2 weeks after the 30-day return period.

It worked great for about 3 months. Pulled it out of my bag to work on a misbehaving router and it would not work for anything. Not helpful at all.

    Hello Sam,

Thank you for your review and my apologies for the issues you have encountered with PID 3726. Unfortunately, it sounds like you may have received a defective product. If you try plugging it into a different USB port does the same issue occur? Also, if you test it out with a different device does the issue still occur?

I've tried with different ports, and on different computers running different operating systems. It does not work.

Sorry for the delayed response. Thank you for that information. It sounds like it is just a bad cable. There could possibly be a short in the cable. If you would like I can set up an RMA for a replacement on the defective cable. Just let me know and I can get that set up.
