STP stands for Shielded Twisted Pairs.
The ethernet standard uses data packet transmission and error correction. Unlike streaming data transmission, this standard simply buffers and repeats until it has a complete instruction set which compensates data transmission errors.
Since UTP was cheaper in the beginning, it generally became the standard. If you are using the cables for ethernet connections, either should work. The problem is that some manufacturer's cut costs by using Copper Clad Aluminum wire for their conductors. The aluminum has a higher resistance, which causes more heat and can thereby present a fire hazard. "Bare copper" is the term used in the National Electrical Code, Underwriters Laboratories, and the Communications Cable and Connectivity Association (CCCA). Our use of the term is intended to communicate our total compliance with their standards for Ethernet cable construction.

I got 2 of these and 2 of the green version (3429) for wiring up some home entertainment devices to a wifi bridge.
Very happy with performance and reliability. They have been in use for just over a year now without issue.

| All cables worked. As others have mentioned the boots are a little odd, but they're functional and keep the cables from snagging. Would definitely recommend over more expensive alternatives.

| | Cat6 Cables - Functional | Pros: These are functional Cat6 cables. No protective boot, feels okay, but not extremely burly. Length and color are as specified. Each is individually packaged. With larger orders, 10 individual bags will be bundled in another larger bag.
I ordered around 80 cables, used many of them with no failures.
