STP stands for Shielded Twisted Pairs.
The ethernet standard uses data packet transmission and error correction. Unlike streaming data transmission, this standard simply buffers and repeats until it has a complete instruction set which compensates data transmission errors.
Since UTP was cheaper in the beginning, it generally became the standard. If you are using the cables for ethernet connections, either should work. The problem is that some manufacturer's cut costs by using Copper Clad Aluminum wire for their conductors. The aluminum has a higher resistance, which causes more heat and can thereby present a fire hazard. "Bare copper" is the term used in the National Electrical Code, Underwriters Laboratories, and the Communications Cable and Connectivity Association (CCCA). Our use of the term is intended to communicate our total compliance with their standards for Ethernet cable construction. |

Cons: Different colors couldn't be bundled together to lower overall price.
The only reason I lower my rating at all is not because of the product. I bought several different colors of this cable to color-code which devices they were going to. Lower bundled prices through are available on items of the same SKU, but different colors necessarily have different SKUs. It would be nice if items that are only different because of color, could be price bundled, too. Otherwise (let's all recite it again together now, shall we?), it's a good, short, cheap cable that integrated into my network setup very well, as expected. I will submit this same review for each of the colors reviewed (good thing copy & paste is easy…).
