| Commercial Series Professional Standard HDMI® Cable, 100ft Black | | | Question: What is AWG? | Answer: AWG stands for "American Wire Gauge." It is the thickness of the wire inside the cable. The lower number AWG denotes thicker wiring and thicker overall cable. Thicker cables are recommended for longer cable runs because they offer less resistance along the signal path.
| | Question: What does the gold plating refer to? | | Answer: Gold plating refers to the connectors. Gold plating provides resistance against corrosion that would otherwise impede signal transfer and could damage connections on equipment. | | Question: What is the performance benefit of Tin and Silver Plating? | Answer: Tin and silver plating refer to plating on the copper wire conduits inside the cable. The plating is to control the "skin effect." The skin effect is the tendancy of digital signals to travel along the surface of a wire and be more suceptible to surface disipation. The plating is suppose to lock the signal in the copper core.
Silver is a better conductor of electricity than tin and therefore offers better signal integrity. | Question: These cables say "For In-Wall Use." Does that mean they can only be used in wall? What is CL2? | Answer: "For In-Wall Use" refers to the CL2 rating these cables receive from Underwriters Laboratories (UL). It means that these cables have a slow burning outer jacket, should meet most fire codes and are safe for in-wall installations.
The CL2 rating does not affect the appearance or performance of the cables. They can be used in or out of wall. | | Question: How do I know if I need male to male cables or male to female? | Answer: As a rule, consumer electronics devices ALWAYS have female ports on them. (a protruding male connector would break off too easily) So, for connecting two devices together, you need a male to male cable.
Male to female cables are used to extend existing cables. |

| Pros: This is probably the best price for an HDMI cable in this length that you will find...anywhere The product worked out of the box, with no surprises
Cons: The only con is the rigidity and girth of the cable. I was expecting a regular "skinny" cable when I ordered this, but when I opened the box It looked to be a direct burial cable. I was a little concerned that the cable would not be able to be fished through some of the 90 degree bends in the conduit running under the floor and through the walls, but it worked out finewithout lube :-)
I would recommend this to a friend, and I would purchase the cable again. As a matter of fact, I have already ordered two 50' runs of this stuff for two other rooms that I need A/V equipment in.

| | Multiple HDMI split, very long runs | From a central wiring closet, I have 4 hdmi cables going through out the house. A 100ft run, 75ft run, 50ft run, and a 30ft run. I have 1 source fed through 2 splitters (1x2 way, 1x4 way). The source goes into the 2 way, 1 input to the 4 way splitter and 1 into the 100ft run. On the end of the 100ft run, I have a repeater (and added the optional power adapter). It took this exact setup for the 100ft run to get the feed, but at the end of the day it all worked. Every single bit of equipment (except for the power adapter for the repeater) was purchased through monoprice and all of it worked perfectly! I can have 4 tvs all share 1 source on at the same time. No sparkles, no drops, video and audio working perfectly! Thanks Monoprice for such excellent quality equipment at great prices.

| | PS3 problems | Pros: High quality as usual
Cons: I wish it would have worked for all my components, now I'm back to buying another one and hoping it works
Would not display my 1080p PS3 signal. I tested the PS3 slim with other shorter cables and works perfectly so if you going to use this with a PS3 then I would save the 100.00 bucks. The cable worked perfect for me connection my pc to receiver and then receiver to TV but the PS3 is the only device that will not work, the signal is degraded and keeps going blank on screen.
by Monoprice Administrator Hello Chris,
Thank you for your review. For testing purposes, have you tried outputting to a lower resolution on the PS3? As the PS3 may not be able to push a 1080p signal at 100ft, so if you can try 720 or even 480p to see if you can get a signal of some sort, you may require a booster instead. Please let me know, thank you!

| Pros: Very long
Cons: Needed to buy booster with it
It's not really the cable's fault or anything, but at 100', I needed to buy a repeater in order for the signal to actually make it. Again, that's not the cable's fault though. Be CAREFUL this is a THICK, MONSTER of a cable!! You will need to buy some "cable savers" with it or it will DESTROY whatever you plug it into.
